    Kate Mulgrew needs to reprise her role as Janeway in the Picard series or get her own thing! Picard and Janway are the best captains!

      Picard yes, and so was Janeway in certain ways, although I think she made some questionable decisions as a captain. Particularly her way of sticking to her principles to an extreme at the expense of getting her crew out of the delta quadrant. I think out of all of them, I'd rather serve under Benjamin Sisko.

      @@PipenFalzy: Celebrities are people - nobody is perfect. Most of my encounters with celebrity have been either cordial, polite or rushed and a few have even been truly awesome and memorable. But there have been a few - George Takei (beloved as he is) and Peter Frampton (legend that he is) spring to mind - that were truly distasteful and I try not to let my limited time in their presence cloud my perception of the otherwise amazing people they may be. Some people have reported similar experiences, some not. With celebrities, as with any other human, your mileage may vary.

    • @mikearchibald744
      @mikearchibald744 5 лет назад +3

      @@notsofunnynowisit Dude, thats one of the most reasonable comments about celebrity that I've ever seen on RUclips. Imagine, celebrities are people too! And maybe not everybody who likes to act, like to have an in depth (or any) conversation with every single person who thinks they only exist to have a conversation with. Neil Peart said it perfectly "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend". There are SOME celebrities whose insecurities thrive on adulation, there are others who didn't get into acting to be a celebrity, they like the industry and have to eat, end of story.

    truly not just a first woman captain, but an eloquent and passionate spokeswoman not just for Star Trek, but for the Sci Fi genre as a whole. Quite right about fantasy and sci fi being different genres, thank you for taking note of that. Altheimers is a terrible thing for entire families, and if it robs you of a moment of your memory, or your passion; your Star Trek family will grieve that day immensely.

    I started watching this vedio think I love kate and this is going to be wonderful. But when kate started talking about mother nature and how when you fall down you get back up again because we're human. It made me realize that I did fall and I'm afriad to get back up again because I don't want to fall again. Kate fell alot for many different reasons, she is my reason to get back up again. She is my idol and everything time I fall over a hurdle or lose in a race or I just think I can't do it because I'm tired, I'm going to think of kate. She will be my strength and my courage espically when I go to perform in my musical and straight plays. All I have to say is thank you to Kate for being the wonderful person she is and for playing the role of Kathryn janeway.

    Steven Segal is fun to watch because you can't help but think "is this guy really as slow as he's eluding to by how he's speaking and answering these intereview questions"? Kate Mulgrew however is the exact opposite: Smart, educated, thankful, willing, and witty! I don't know what it is like to be an actor but as a fan (Janeway is my favorite captain and Kate Mulgrew did such a wonderful job playing her) there is nothing more awesome than the actor being just as smart, witty and talented in real life as the character they portray onset. The icing on the cake is when the actor is willing to give back to their fan base. Kate was always noted as being one who showed up on time and was thankful to have such a wonderful job.

    Kate is a wonderful person, she's insightful, she's incredibly smart, and with that, I loved her as Captain Janeway. I've not seen her much since her very brief role on ST Nemesis. I may have to check out Orange is The New Black. Whatever role she plays, I'll always remember her as Captain Kathryn Janeway! Captain of the U.S.S. Voyager! I hope to see her on Star Trek Picard.
    I wish Kate all the best. I'd have a shot of Whiskey with her anytime!

    She reminds me so much of a female Shatner-type that I've always longed to see them on screen together as Captains. You can she is dramatic to her very core and extremely intelligent. Her portrayal as Janeway was so under-rated and so many of my fav. episodes were centered around her. Voyager had the strong female character without banging you on the head with in your face feminist rhetoric. She was the boss and that was that...it didn't matter what gender she was. And she led a ship really and truly "where no one had gone before" which perhaps embodied the most Star Trek themed series since the original one. Leadership, science, unity and exploration. That's Trek to me.

    • @xenomorphlover
      @xenomorphlover 5 лет назад +2

      I agree , her acting was superb and most of the times superior to any other captain. And yeah, Im happy that back then the whole crazy feminazi agenda was not that mainstream (you know woman good, men evil...) and that's why I never in those seven years cared that she was a woman or a man, she was just a fine captain who cared deeply for her crew.

    I really liked the interaction between Janeway and Chakotay. They respected each other, had become good friends with a small amount of unresolved sexual tension. Just about perfect. When 7 of 9 came on board, that dynamic changed. I would like to have known what the stories would have been without 7. I don't have the same affection for the shows once 7 became part of it. I have nothing against Jerri Ryan as an actress, it's the Star Trek characters and stories that I'm talking about.

    I adore this woman. Another fine actor taking the captain roll to new heights. I love Picard, but Janeway was sturdy and sexy.

    Looking back at Voyager or DS9, it really was a stupid decision to forcably end these shows after just 7 years. Look around these days, shows go on far beyond 10+ years, seasons 14 or 15 sometime. And the premise would have allowed it. Voyager could have easily spent 10 years in the D Quadrant and DS9? It's a space station(!) where everyone comes and goes. Kira took over, a few new people, let Ezri Dax shine more than just one season.... The final episode offered such an open field of new directions. ... Both ended too soon while these days shows easily get their seasons 11, 12, 13, 14 ... on and on and on ... long after they had become repetitive in ideas... Had they only continued longer ....

      yeah but the whole point of voyager was to be in the delta q. so once they got home, the show should have ended

      @@thebuckrogers22 You missed the point entirely. If the should had lasted longer of course the getting home moment was to be postponed as well. I never suggested they'd return at the end of season 7 and then go on for more seasons as this clearly would not go well with the shows premisse. You must have misinterpreted my words somewhere while reading. Pay more attention next time ;)
