Ive always thought a good urshifu nerf would be to make ONLY wicked blow and surging strikes ignore protect, but i also like the 1/2 damage through protect nerf
One I think that isn't really a cheater, but still find it funny, is Iron Boulder and Mighty Cleave. A 95 base power, 100% accurate Rock move (so no immunities) that hits through Protect. The funny part comes in with that since you don't see Iron Boulder that much, people seem to just forget that Mighty Cleave hits through Protect.
There is a trait and effect, in another game, that is similar with Unseen Fist called "Pierce" Pierce is like Unseen First but much, much stronger as in it doesn't care about the enemy's Protections. Imagine Unseen Fist but is Unaware of both defenses and evasion of the enemy(s). And to balance this effect out, most of the moves removes the effect after it has been added. Kinda like this: "Before damage: Applies Pierce to itself..... After damage: Removes Pierce"
There are also some traits that are similar to some of the abilities like Good as Gold (Artifact: Immune to all effects. This includes positive and negative) and Wonder Guard (Totem: Immune to all negative effect. This trait is only on one monster that becomes a sitting duck without allies)
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, it is possible to make Shedinja a lot tougher to beat: 1. Recruit a Nincada, 2. Max out Nincada's HP stat, and 3. Evolve Nincada to Ninjask, the end result should be that you will have a Shedinja with the same HP stat as Ninjask.
Calyrex on a horse not needing to hold a specific item is almost a cheat too. And speaking of items and obscenely powerful Legendary Pokémon. Mega Rayquaza is a Mega Evolution that canonically ate its Mega Stone and therefore can hold anything it wants. Now THAT is cheating.
Ah, if only I had known of this magical button combination sooner. I would have been spared the humiliation of my friend tearing me a new one with the Smeargle + Alolan Muk combo
Great video! I would say Annihilape would fall into the cheater category (however imo would not warrant the need for a nerf) since rage fist's counter is kept even after switching out and back in while regigigas has to restart it's counter. In doing so it incentives opponents to try to neuter it without hitting it, or go for an OHKO move
One small note: at 12:37 you show some moves that smeargle “cannot learn”, however smeargle actually can sketch both sleep talk and mirror move if they fail to copy a move. Idk why they’re there tbh Prior to gen 9 it could also have dark void as a move if it was sketched in previous generations, and would simply fail if smeargle tried to use it in gen 7 and onwards. The other moves shown are correct, sketch will straight up fail to copy those moves.
I never really thought about how dumb it is that Calyrex gets two abilities despite other fusion Pokemon only getting one. That said, I don't think the abilities are THAT big of a deal since Unnerve has the potential to do nothing in a battle (it's not impossible for a team to have no berries on it anywhere) and Grim/Chilling Neigh require getting KOs to activate. It's the stats and signature moves that are the real problem.
I just noticed one way to tell which Urshifu is which is by looking at its head design. Rapid-Strike Style has a black upward-pointing crown and Single-Strike Style has a white downward-pointing crown
12:00 I feel like this would actually nerf Weezing more than anything. If there are no Pokémon that can circumvent this ability, that means that teambuilding will be a lot harder as there are way fewer viable options for this team. The Weezing player can build their team around Weezing and choose Pokémon that aren't affected by Neutralizing Gas, or aren't hurt too much by it. But the opponent's team won't have a team that is built around his mechanic.
Actually, that's a good point. I guess I was thinking that it would encourage the use of Weezing teams to only have Pokémon with actively bad abilities like Toedscruel, Slaking, and Regigigas
@@DjPrimeVideos It would still be a nerf though. You'd have to give up your item slot just so you can actually use your ability. The opposing team really isn't going to be Weezing-proof. But yours will be because you're using Weezing. It's adventagous to have a few Pokémon not affected by Neutralizing Gas as it opens up the opportunity to use those specifically so you can nullify the opponent's Pokémon, but still allow your Palafin to enter its hero form, or get (Sp)Atk boosts with Calyrex. And the Ability shield really isn't a worthwhile item. It won't have to prevent the nullification effect of Neutralizing Gas all the time since Weezing won't be on the field at all times. Making you almost not even have an item if Weezing isn't out.
What the hell was GF thinking when designing Urshifu? Let's give this guy good stats+ a move that always crits and an ability that lets it hit through protect & let's give it an identical form with different moves and typing so if it's a closed team sheet format you gotta just guess which one it is
@@Marvel_vs_Capcom84 Why is it overused by most teams at the worlds then? Protect is a valuable defensive counterplay. Also I don't dislike Ursifu being broken. In fact I don't dislike any pkmn in general. Every mon deserves love

On the neutralising gas thing, Zero to Hero activates while Palafin isn't out so gas won't likely effect it and Mimikyu already has a bad matchup against Weezing, so letting it take one hit from it for free isn't that bad. As one can suck it thought.
Mega Rayquaza being a mega that can hold an item. Not much a big deal in doubles but in singles Smogon format it is. Then Zacian who gets a free +1 on switch in with its alternative form having the BST of Arceus. It got nerfed in Gen 7 at least.
Honestly, if Weezing had the stats to stand up to Goldengo that would be incredible. Goldengo makes status spreading and hazarad removal way too difficult, so having a consistent way of turning it off would be super helpful for singles
Urshifu and Calyrex's Steed is basically saying *"BARF OUT 100 BUCKS & WIN THE GAME!!!* Also; *WHY THE 🐬🐬🐬🐬 DOES GAMEFREAK HAD TO BEND DARKRAI OVER BACKWARDS BY 🐬🐬🐬🐬ING OVER ITS SIGNATURE MOVE?!!!!!!* Making it so that Darkrai is the sole user Dark Void is already a good enough fix!!! )ahem( Sorry, had a tangent back there.
What I find more annoying with the Urshifu's is that GF nerfed the signature move of the Dark one, but not the Water one, the far more popular option both in Gen 8 and 9? Granted, I remember hearing Dark was banned in Singles, but in Doubles, Water is WAY more dominant.
They didn’t nerf shit They simply matched the dark and waters base power It wasn’t intended as a nerf only as a consistency change They’re only attempt at nerfing urshifu is raging bolt
this is giving me flashbacks to when i wanted to do a monotype ghost run in swsh and my friend wanted to use urshifu-s and calyrex-s against me. he figured since they were in the game they were fair use, so i lost a battle. went home and did calcs and came back with counters, colbur berry+body press cofagrigus for urshifu and assault vest+shadow sneak aegislash for calyrex. weirdly enough after beating him once he didn't want to play anymore.
So like in team preview say one of you choose weeding then the prompt asks you “your opponent has chosen weezing you have choosen calyrex shadow rider now you must choose which mon will be in until the effects of neutralizing gas are over”
Quick thing, neutralizing gas used to not effect paradox ability’s (wolfyvgc made a team based on that) and then game freak made it so that it does effect them (they said it was a bug but i feel a little different)
I wish magnet pull and arena trap would ignore ghost types. I think it’s cooler that ghost can dodge shadow tag, flying can dodge arena trap, and not steel can dodge magnet pull. Instead of if you’re ghost trapping moves and abilities don’t exist. Maybe the moves could also ignore the Pokémon of the same type. Like water for whirlpool, fire for magma storm, dark for mean look
I've always felt like Garganacl has one of the most ridiculous abilities in the game. Taling half damage from all Ghost moves on top if not being able to be affected by status conditions is just too much for one ability. Having reliable recovery in Recover and Salt Cure to wear the opponent down, even after it leaves the field, make it really hard to take down. The only consistent way I've found to beat them is baiting the opponent to terastalize something else before it comes out, because otherwise it will Tera Ghost and essentially have only 1 weakness in Dark. I feel like Purifying Salt should work like Shed Skin and you have a chance to get rid of a staus and not a full immunity.
Competitive pokemon is an absolutely dumpster fire, the whole series needs serious rebalancing.... I don't trust gamefreak, and especially not Competitive players to do it.
One thing I will say about Urshifu, making the signature moves high crit rate is arguably worse Due to the absurdity of Urshifu, one of the healthy things about it is also that it always crits, as it adds no randomness and makes damage calculations entirely the users fault. I am much more in favour of half damage through protect as having a 1/8 chance to completely shift the damage isn’t something I want for a mon who ignores protect
Man, I feel like for Urshifu there's really 2 ways to go about balancing it. Either you modify its gimmick, or balance around said gimmick. If you wanna modify the gimmick, then your suggestions work great. If you wanna keep its gimmicks, then its signature moves just need a nerf. Wicked Blow should go down to 65BP. Makes it a respectably strong move that bypasses buffs, debuffs, and reflects, but not too busted. It's also just strong enough that Skill Swap Technician shenanigans won't be a thing. Could you imagine thinking protect isn't worth it then someone pulls a skill swap and now Wicked Blow is a nuke that's stronger than its original power? I mean I don't think it would be a valid strategy, given the opportunity costs, but just in case let's not have to deal with that. And then Surging Strikes should be like 20BP, for 60BP effective. The multi-hit version shouldn't be dealing the same amount of damage as the single hit version, especially with all the gimmicks urshifu already has, bypassing subs is too much for them to have equal power.
Lance is still the biggest cheater. Gen 1- All of his Dragonites are at level 50. Dragonair doesn't evolve until 55. Also, it knows Barrier. It wasn't able to legitimately learn it until X and Y. Gen 2- His Aerodactyl knows Rock Slide. Rock Slide on Aerodactyl isn't possible until Gen 3. Also, gonna say Falkner is a cheat too. His beta team in Gold/Silver beta would have consisted of a level 9 Pidgey, level 10 Pidgeotto, and a level 10 Pidegot. Falkner's team in the final releases are just Pidgey and Pidgeotto. However, Pidgey doesn't evolve to Pidgeotto until level 18
In my opinion, Alolan Muk would be even more difficult to beat if it was paired with Pokémon that has Levitate. The end result would be no weaknesses at all.
The real way to fix urshifu is just to take it out back and put it down. But that’s just me. Or just. Severely nerf it’s ability to make it only bypass protect ONCE since it’s UNSEEN fist. You see the fist when it attacks with a contacting move no longer unseen. Still super dumb. But at least it can’t just do whatever it wants anymore
Gholdengo was one of the substitutes I used once fluttermane and urshifu were banned cause I knew that it can do serious damage without heavy hitters to keep it in check so I used it once regulation h left a power vacuum.
I think it would be funny if Shedinja got a mega that basically deleted its meagre defensive stats in favor of full-on offense. Not like it needs those anyway!
I might be of the little group of people who actually enjoys Urshifu in battles - both to use AND to fight against. Most problems around him come cuse you trying to fight it like a pokemon. Whitch you shouldnt. His personallity and look hint at that greately. Hes more of the martial artist than a pokemon, and should be treated as such. So one word - trading. You try to find efficient strategy or the right move, or counter him - and he punches you in the face while you thinking. You shouldnt treat him as an instrument, like you do with other pokemon, who could be countered by other instruments. Treat him as your direct opponent, a bossfight of sorts, where other pokemon are his minions. When you go with this mentality, it becomes easyer. You dont have to beat player behind Urshifu, you have to beat Urshifu. Most of the teams actually have what it takes to beat him, but tend to overanalyse encounter and lose cause of that. Urshifu is weak defensively, its basically a sweeper who dont have to buff to sweep, but is weaker than a buffed sweeper. So, heres the deal, il tell you if you promise to not tell anybody, are you ready, dear reader? IF URSHIFU FULLY COUNTERS YOUR DEFENSIVE PLAY THEN DONT PLAY DEFENSIVELY!!!!! Like comon, Urshifu has a good stats and can pierce through defence, he WILL atack. 90% of the urshifu players dont even run any kind of defensive moves on them. Its something like WB/SS+Bulk up+ other damaging move X2, or utility. First time Urshifu goes into the battle he has 3 options: Atack, buff, or switch. The odds are, in 9/10 situation player will use 1 or 2, regardless of the opponents in doubles, as Urshifu is capable of hitting at least one for of the 2 for normal or SE 99% of the time. Now... GO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THE BEAR. -If he buffs, its essentially free damage, and he is half dead, or dead if yore lucky. -If he atacks, worst thing that can occur - you will lose a pokemon, but in that case - you will regardless of your actions. Urshifu is fast, but not the fastest, there are plenty of pokemon capable of outspeeding him, and even more - if thats not not speed IV urshifu. Urshifu isnt cheater, its gimmicky, Hes capable of dealing out insane agression, but he isnt capable of standing against it. The moment you start trading or focusing on him, he crumbless like a cardhouse, and loses basically all the benefits of his cheater-like ability and moves. Because it doesnt matter that he can beat you through your defence, if yore not defending. It doesnt matter thah he can deal damage, or kill your mons if he himself is killed. Under preasure - hes just generic phisical atacker with high stats, there are plenty of those and the ways to deal with them. I used to struggle against one of my friends Urshifu when i started SWSH, and it was my first completed pokemon game, and my first compepetive expirience in it. When i tried same approach as i use in souls like pvp - Long slow hard hitting weapon, a lot of armor, health, and smart trading. He hasnt won ONCE using Urshifu since then. And remember, kids - When you see Urshifu getting ready to atack you - you dont think about how yore gonna counter him, you straight up run towards him, and punch his face first. If Urshifu made you question your next moves - hes already won.
only way to beat an urshifu is its very specific counters or another urshifu, the meta is so tight that everyone has one or the other i promise you up until now where urshifu hasen’t been allowed into recent tourneys if i remember.

Honestly, I feel that they need to go full reset with the pokemon on the last two gens. Powercreep has gotten way too intense. This is why I play gen 7 or earlier on Smogon singles. One because, I prefer the possibility of defensive play in earlier gen singles. As well as two, unlike gen 9 doubles, not basically all about putting as many of the most broken pokemon on your team.

@@alexursu4403Yep. Both Shadow Rider Calyrex and Ice Rider Calyrex are like Mega Rayquaza
if the reigns of unity were a held item like the grisous orb that boosts stabs only I feel like that would be fair. OR just make the signature moves 100 damage only
@@bigmonke3348 make calyrex the item.
I know this is a doubles focused channel but a significant singles buff I would like to see for Weezing-Kanto is for it to get defog like Weezing-Galar. It's hilarious they made an ability that lets you defog on Gholdengo but only gave defog to the one weak to steel.
I think once we get out of SV and Tera is gone, people will realize how easy it is to deal with Gholdengo
yea I think it's just an Aegislash stall version
Fun Fact: Shedinja's 1 HP Base Stat breaks the rules of how stats are calculated.
The funny part comes in with that since you don't see Iron Boulder that much, people seem to just forget that Mighty Cleave hits through Protect.
doesnt hit that hard and I think water and dark are better offensive types anyways
@@bigmonke3348 That’s why I said it probably doesn’t count as a cheater.
You're one of my favorite Pokémon RUclipsrs.
Keep it up 😁👍

7:36 don't know if this was intentional but it made me laugh
There is a trait and effect, in another game, that is similar with Unseen Fist called "Pierce"
Pierce is like Unseen First but much, much stronger as in it doesn't care about the enemy's Protections.
Making a weak Pokémon good is one thing but giving a legendary a broken ability and moves is just moronic.
Agreed
imagine instead of unnerve, as one combined basically moxie with unseen fist. probably in the next DLC :)
And they’re NERFING older Pokémon, moves, and abilities that aren’t broken!
Right?
Calyrex on a horse not needing to hold a specific item is almost a cheat too.
And speaking of items and obscenely powerful Legendary Pokémon. Mega Rayquaza is a Mega Evolution that canonically ate its Mega Stone and therefore can hold anything it wants. Now THAT is cheating.
True, I should have included that!
Calyrex should work the same way Dondozo does, IMHO
@@matejlieskovsky9625 true
Ah, if only I had known of this magical button combination sooner. I would have been spared the humiliation of my friend tearing me a new one with the Smeargle + Alolan Muk combo
Great video! I would say Annihilape would fall into the cheater category (however imo would not warrant the need for a nerf) since rage fist's counter is kept even after switching out and back in while regigigas has to restart it's counter.
In doing so it incentives opponents to try to neuter it without hitting it, or go for an OHKO move
I was actually considering including Annihilape when making this video!
tbh i understand why the horses get two abilities and the others don’t, it’s not like they fused, literally just started riding it lol
One small note: at 12:37 you show some moves that smeargle “cannot learn”, however smeargle actually can sketch both sleep talk and mirror move if they fail to copy a move. Idk why they’re there tbh
Prior to gen 9 it could also have dark void as a move if it was sketched in previous generations, and would simply fail if smeargle tried to use it in gen 7 and onwards.
Urshifu is just wack man
The Home X A gag got a real hearty laugh
Ability shield
The Eelektross line has no weakness
What the hell was GF thinking when designing Urshifu? Let's give this guy good stats+ a move that always crits and an ability that lets it hit through protect & let's give it an identical form with different moves and typing so if it's a closed team sheet format you gotta just guess which one it is
@@e94youtube Stop trying to make it seem like urshifu is as powerful as other over powered legendaries just because he can hit through protect.
@@Marvel_vs_Capcom84 Why is it overused by most teams at the worlds then? Protect is a valuable defensive counterplay. Also I don't dislike Ursifu being broken. In fact I don't dislike any pkmn in general. Every mon deserves love
@@e94youtube 2/2. If you want I can battle you in either sword and shield or scarlet and violet and you can bring both urshifu forums on your team and I bet you still won't win.
@@e94youtube can we have a battle in sword and shield? You can use both versions of urshifu on your team
@@Marvel_vs_Capcom84 Dude why act like I hate Urshifu, Did I ever call him names? I didn't, I just mentioned the way GF made it busted. Most of the content creators explained the same thing. Wolfey, Moxieboosted, ElectricWindGirlfriend & more
Personally I would support you through Patreon or Ko-fi if you had them since then the creator gets 100% of the money.
Good point! Maybe I'll make one of those
On the neutralising gas thing, Zero to Hero activates while Palafin isn't out so gas won't likely effect it and Mimikyu already has a bad matchup against Weezing, so letting it take one hit from it for free isn't that bad. As one can suck it thought.
Hard agree on the Weezing buff, nice to see a Gen 1 mon can still have some sort of relevance and stay that way
Mega Rayquaza being a mega that can hold an item. Not much a big deal in doubles but in singles Smogon format it is.
Then Zacian who gets a free +1 on switch in with its alternative form having the BST of Arceus. It got nerfed in Gen 7 at least.
*9 but you hella right everywhere else
Not cheating, “game mechanics”
Honestly, if Weezing had the stats to stand up to Goldengo that would be incredible. Goldengo makes status spreading and hazarad removal way too difficult, so having a consistent way of turning it off would be super helpful for singles
Urshifu and Calyrex's Steed is basically saying *"BARF OUT 100 BUCKS & WIN THE GAME!!!*
Also; *WHY THE 🐬🐬🐬🐬 DOES GAMEFREAK HAD TO BEND DARKRAI OVER BACKWARDS BY 🐬🐬🐬🐬ING OVER ITS SIGNATURE MOVE?!!!!!!*
Making it so that Darkrai is the sole user Dark Void is already a good enough fix!!!
)ahem( Sorry, had a tangent back there.
@@valiantchris6456 Same here. Darkrai is my favorite Mon and they absolutely did him dirty for no reason.
What I find more annoying with the Urshifu's is that GF nerfed the signature move of the Dark one, but not the Water one, the far more popular option both in Gen 8 and 9? Granted, I remember hearing Dark was banned in Singles, but in Doubles, Water is WAY more dominant.
They didn’t nerf shit
They simply matched the dark and waters base power
It wasn’t intended as a nerf only as a consistency change
They’re only attempt at nerfing urshifu is raging bolt
I think the buff wheezing deserves is an evolution and therefore access to evioloite
this is giving me flashbacks to when i wanted to do a monotype ghost run in swsh and my friend wanted to use urshifu-s and calyrex-s against me. he figured since they were in the game they were fair use, so i lost a battle.
went home and did calcs and came back with counters, colbur berry+body press cofagrigus for urshifu and assault vest+shadow sneak aegislash for calyrex.
weirdly enough after beating him once he didn't want to play anymore.
Me and my homies hate Urshifu, Calyrex, and Gholdengo
My guess: regieleki being so fast, it "outspeeds" trick room
Banger
Having unique attributes isn’t cheating.
Gholdengo’s Good as Gold ability, hilariously makes it unable to be Helping Hand’d
True, that is a drawback of its ability
I wish magnet pull and arena trap would ignore ghost types. I think it’s cooler that ghost can dodge shadow tag, flying can dodge arena trap, and not steel can dodge magnet pull. Instead of if you’re ghost trapping moves and abilities don’t exist.
Maybe the moves could also ignore the Pokémon of the same type. Like water for whirlpool, fire for magma storm, dark for mean look
Fun fact the move stamp actually ignores the minimize Evasion boost and does double damage to that target
14:12 Made me laugh
Competitive pokemon is an absolutely dumpster fire, the whole series needs serious rebalancing.... I don't trust gamefreak, and especially not Competitive players to do it.
The rage quit strategy. So much of a method.
To me Zygarde is a good choice for this list due to thousand arrows
One thing I will say about Urshifu, making the signature moves high crit rate is arguably worse
Due to the absurdity of Urshifu, one of the healthy things about it is also that it always crits, as it adds no randomness and makes damage calculations entirely the users fault.
Otherwise known as quitting. 14:17
Mega ray with v create is pretty dumb too

14:19 I use this all the time whenever I find a min min player in smash bros, it's unbeatable
Me when I run into Sonic online
6:05 Honestly, Aegislash, also a bit of a cheater.

Also calarax rider is straight up two pokemon stacked on eachother, that's 7 pokemon on a team!
Gholdengo was one of the substitutes I used once fluttermane and urshifu were banned cause I knew that it can do serious damage without heavy hitters to keep it in check so I used it once regulation h left a power vacuum.
Just noticed Shedninja have more Defense than Sp. Defense, as if it would make a difference
WolfyVGC is not on the list
How did he cheat?
Shhh furry man viewer
only way to beat an urshifu is its very specific counters or another urshifu, the meta is so tight that everyone has one or the other i promise you up until now where urshifu hasen’t been allowed into recent tourneys if i remember.
14:15 Brilliant.
Damn, and Urshifu in Unite is actually (Dark: Balanced and Water: Gutted once again). Unlike VGC/Smogon
Zoroark is a big cheater. It confuses players all the time
I could take out an air balloon electric shedinja using Zygarade. Is signature move knocks flying pokemon to the ground
I think I'm getting confused on why Ghouldengo is on this list. Good As Gold is basically a baby sibling to Magic Bounce, which is a more broken version as it disallows stat moves AND bounces them at the opponent. And the typing is- I mean as said there are a few moves that will easily one shot lol
So, shedinja, ive noticed that alot of decent pokemon these days have acces to dark type moves (bite is especially common)
Love your videos! 🤩
