  • We went for pike to this canal for a first time. Water was very dark, murky. Visibility was just few inches. We knew that fishing gonna be hard but still we managed to catch 2 pikes and lost 2 pikes. Looking in all that , I think we did good.
    Only the problem - my pike heavy rod snapped for no reason. I've never stepped on it or did any another damage. Had this rod just for a bit longer than a year and I didn't use it too much. All I can blame is - poor quality. So yeah, DON'T BUY this rod.
    Looking forward to by another rod - hopefully better 😅

    Unlucky with the rod although I would say you have damaged yourself without knowing who knows. Tight lines fella 🎣👍

      There is a chance of damaging rod without knowing, but very unlikely. I do look after my gear, rods always have their own place and I never put anything on them. But never know, unlikely but could be my own fault too.
      Tight lines fella 👍🎣

    Well Gedis, upload filled with drama !! Many times I've heard buy cheap buy again, the broken rod
    doesn't fit that criteria does it. £100 rod should pay you back for its price tag in years of service
    and quality of build giving you overall satisfaction, but having to revert to your trusty Agility rod
    which I imagine was nothing like that price. My Agility 5-30g rod is fantastic, I bought it as an
    end of line deal £19.99 carriage free, an absolute steal, I love it. Back to business, lovely looking
    stretch of the canal even if a little coloured, does it get much boat traffic, or was it flood water?
    Your trusty lure doing the business once again 👍 great upload as usual, you should give the
    jigfly a try on that canal, I think you may be surprised 🤞thank you for sharing, and taking me
    along. Phil.

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  2 года назад +1

      Yes Phil, i didn't expect that to happen at all. I heard this saying many times too and that is the reason why I usually choose to buy more expensive things. Didn't happen this time. And yes, agility is way cheaper and serving at least double time 😁
      To buy other half of rod costs nearly same as actual full rod. Not buying that one again haha. Canal water colour was due to rains and floods but at the same time we seen many boats cruising through. Not ideal when trying to catch fish. Thanks for suggestion I will definitely be trying jigfly, totally forgot about it's existence. Also Thank You again for watching my videos 😁🤝🎣🎣🎣

      Hi mate 🤝
      Could be some defect or maybe my fault by flicking lure in bad angle and maybe tip bended too much and snapped 🤔
      Thanks for watching 😁🎣

    Huh. Well that's a bugger! Can't say I'm surprised; I had that rod for a while and although I had a few fish with it, I wasn't blown away by the quality of the blank. A lot of Fox Rage marketing going on without much substance! I changed to a Daiwa Prorex XR and then to the AGS. SO much better! Now on the hunt again after shutting a car boot on the AGS! Ooops. I like the look of your SG4 in your other vid...

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  2 года назад

      I didn't expect that to happen at all. This blank wasn't very sensitive and it was a heavy one. It felt like it gonna hold for very long time. I thought that Fox Rage sacrificed sensitivity and lightness to make it bullet proof rod. But as we seen - they didn't 😅
      I bet Daiwa felt much better, not hard to beat this Fox Rage rod 😅
      I'm so sorry for your rod, that's unfortunate 😢 Hope you will find something even better.
      I really like my new SG4, just after previous rod experience, hard to recommend. For me it feels brilliant - just need some time to see how well it gonna hold 😅
      Thanks for watching and Tight lines 🤝🎣🎣🎣

    That's the problem with high-modulus carbon, which is used in the Prism range. It's stiff with good bite recognition, but they can be brittle. Catch it on a bad day and they can go ping for no apparent reason! If you'd done something to it, you'd have been able to feel it in the two fish you caught, a creak or a crack or something. But high modulus can just snap without warning.

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +1

      That's very interesting information 💪 thank you for explaining, now everything makes so much more sense. I did this small flick and probably my tip bended in bad angle, to much sharp bend and high-modulus carbon couldn't cope with it

    • @chrispainter827
      @chrispainter827 Год назад +1

      @@ManAndRod I had one before and that snapped. Not sure I can blame the High modulus carbon; I trod on it! But I was thinking of getting another one and half remembered seeing your video ages ago and thought I'd rewatch to see if you'd done anything to make it snap. You hadn't, so I ordered a Daiwa AGS instead! BTW, love your BG4000; they're superb reels for heavy lure fishing

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +1

      I think you're doing right. Always interesting to test something new. Please let me know how your new Daiwa rod feels. I just checked online - it's like 200£ rod. Should be interesting product for that price.
      And yeah, Daiwa BG4000 is very powerful reel for the price. Quite heavy but for big lures is brilliant. Would be brilliant for sea fishing for some monsters. Shame we don't have sea fishing quality as in tropical parts of the world, where waters are loaded with tuna, snappers, barracudas, giant groupers and another similar beasts 😅

      @@ManAndRod Fishing mad in Lanark have a few of the AGS rods in (clearance section). They're part of the Classic series - basically AGS rods with cork handles. They have 8' heavy setups in both baitcaster and fixed spools Highly recommended. £100 and they're superb blanks and unlike the Fox rods, they have nanoplus technology in it; the rods are bound in a pre-enriched resin that gives them serious strength without affecting the weight. Top rods.

    Cast weight is 3-14g, i bet that lure was way heavier which jn this case, it’s your fault. You can’t work land in a smart fortwo….

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  8 месяцев назад

      Cast weight on this rod was up to 100g. But probably that was my fault anyway. I think my casting angle was wrong and the tip bend too sharp
