The oldest car on this line up is the best sounding car, followed by the second oldest, followed by the third oldest.......the latest ones don't sound very authentic. They've tried to fit in the Akrapovic exhaust system onlatest models but I think it still doesn't cut it.

That was possibly the worst one...too heavy and just lazy especially in stock form.
An mk7 GTI would blow past it and to add insult to injury would burn less fuel doing so 🤣
The mk7 R was the first properly fast R model with lots of tuning potential and awesome handling

@@WaseemKhan-iu4bh as true as that might be, I appreciate cars for what they are and try not to compare them.
What you are saying is also true for an e9X M3 vs F8X M3, its all about what you like and prefer bro. The guy buying the 6R has his reasons much as the guy in the 7GTI/R

@@WaseemKhan-iu4bh Too bad the 7r looks like it was completely designed by a corporate suit and looks boring. I'll take a 6r over it anyday of the week(oh wait I did, as I own one alongside an mk6 GTI stage 3)

I'm sure it's been said already - but you're missing the most iconic version...
The MkIV Golf R is really what started it all... Yes, the MkIII VR6 was special in it's own way, but it was the AWD in the MkIV that really changed the game.

Back in the day the VR6 with such a big engine had a lot of expectations which it never delivered. The biggest shocker was the sticker price of R99 900. A milestone price point for a Golf. I guess R1m is just around the corner. Mk3 was also the last of the easy maintenance and reliable VWs. The Mk4 was solid rubbish in reliability and VW like Merc have gone down the tubes from a reliability cost perspective ever since.

There was a R32 MK4 GTI 20v turbo 132 kw sold in Sa (yes not V6), only 100 models made I think , and was awd, in silver only.

Port injected VR6 sounds 100x better than the direct injected VR6 found in Mk5 golf’s and the later direct injected 3.6 Passat engine.
    2.8, 2.9 & Mk4 R32 were the original and best chewbaccas
