    I always like to learn as I had a lot of learning experiences , so I get a chance to watch one of your videos I appreciate it . I don't have a nx5600 mine is the I assume the first design of the g56 . I had it rebuilt in Fort Worth a couple of years ago .. one thing I did not notice till I got it home from a fellow stated it was out of a wrecked truck was the out put shafts splines were worn exclusively. Or just worn . I remember watching a video of transmission shop in Amarillo and there again the splines were worn enough to cause problems in a automatic. So when I installed my g56 I used a lot of anti seize copper on both surfaces. No idea how long that will work. Soon as it warms up I try to send you some pictures of my conversation

    So, what do you guys think on the Tremec 4050 5 speed behind the Cummins ?? And what kind of power is this trans capable of handling? because at some point these NV’s are going to go obselete.. such as like you said.. the cases breaking etc.

    That mainshaft nut is 2 1/4” correct?

    What about the 4.10 ring gear as in my 2001.5 H. O. Unmolested Cummins. Can I cruise in 6th? I always have. I down shift to accelerate. Not for 6th gear but for engine internals and to lower wide open throttle strains. When I first started hauling tomatoes back in 88’ the truck owner taught me to gradually add fuel as RPMs increase (not peddle to the metal) driving. My transmission has 187,000 miles and two oil changes using Pennzoil Synchromesh. I shift with the clutch as smoothly as possible. So far the transmission has been smooth and quiet. Another thing I try to avoid is sudden throttle changes so I don’t cause backlash. This 6th gear towing issue is new to me. Gross weight camper and trailer with Polaris General is is about 12,000 lbs.

      If you're smart about it, you should be fine. Just use 5th on big hills.
      I would change the transmission oil a little more often though...

    Who do you recommend for a proper rebuild when you live in northern Arkansas? My 6 gear grinds and lots of gold in the fluid.

    Theory question: Say Dodge 3500 stock dually tires, towing 8k up a 4% hill at 65.. What gear ratio would be better on a NV5600 ? A) 4.10s in 6th.
    B) 3.42s in 5th

      Any gears in the "3"s are not really for towing, they build up a little more heat and you lose some off-the-line performance. I'd stick to the 4's and still plan to downshift accordingly so you don't burn up overdrive.

    Where does one go if the 5600 and 4500 units keep failing. Whats next up? Is there a smaller big rig trans that can be used?

    • @TorqueKingTV
      @TorqueKingTV  8 месяцев назад +2

      First I would like to know what is failing and why. After that, a ZF6 or NV5000 may be recommended.
      For high loads and power, it's almost better to go with an Eaton transmission, then use our transfer case divorce kit for 4x4 applications.

    So do all Torque King mainshaft 6th gears come welded?

    • @TorqueKingTV
      @TorqueKingTV  Год назад

      At this time, no, however the vendor we use has better factory welds than most other sources.
      We are reproducing some items to make a full master overhaul kit that would be as comprehensive as our NV4500 kits. A welded 6th is 1 thing we plan on adding.
      Still a little ways out on kit release, but it's coming.

    Any idea what would cause a nv5600 to loose 5th and 6th gear?

      I'm gonna tag @longrangegear on this one

      Main shaft failed at the neck down from 4th to the 6th gear snout… that’s what happened to mine… funny enough the small 6th gear is fully intact… the drive gear on the counter shaft has 3 chips

    what fluid do you recommend for the nv5600

    • @TorqueKingTV
      @TorqueKingTV  10 месяцев назад

      Pennzoil Synchromesh (OE fluid), or RedLine MTL I believe is what LRG uses.

    Is it possible for a G or NV to live behind compounds and gross combined 31k lbs?

    • @TorqueKingTV
      @TorqueKingTV  11 месяцев назад

      If you don't bang on it, or pull uphill in OD, and change fluid regularly, a properly built 56 or 5600 should hold up quite a while.
