    Sir h1 is the centroidal distance. But considered it as difference between CG of I section and NA depth. I.e. h=364.21-300 = 64.21mm. Can u please clarify it sir

    How do you get value 64.21 in step 5? You said you get it by subtracting 235.79 from CG of I-section but it is not 300 you got it as 364.21. The ans should be 128.42 right??

    Step 1 me jo impact allowance hai, vo EOT and hand operated cranes ko different hota hai na.. agar hum ko kounsi operated crane ki specify nahi kiya thn which type of crane should we imagine?

    Hello sir. I am facing problem in finding bending moment in a question. I request you to help me with this.
    Design a simply supported gantry girder to carry an electric overhead travelling crane for following data
    Crane capacity 320 kN
    Weight of crane and crab 300 kN
    Weight of crane 200 kN
    Max approach of crane hook 1.20 m
    Distance b/w c/c of wheels 3.20 m
    Distance b/w c/c of gantries 16 m
    Span of gantriy girder 4 m
    Weight of rails 300 N/m
    Height of rails 75 mm
    Yield stress of steel 280 MPa

    Hi Sir , In My Example all values are same but the span of gantry girder is 5m . Than for calculation B.M. in step (2) . Distance calculated as per concept is greater than 0.65L than what should i do ??

    in step 2
    you wrote self wt. of rail section = 0.300 kn/m. (please clarify why you did this)
    In Breaking force
    you took static wheel load = 160.40 but i think it should be taken 200.50 as we use factored load

    In step-4 the value of Zp req.=3820cm3 and for ISMB Zp=3510.63cm3. so how can we take the section of lesser Zp than the req. One??? Plzz explain

    At 21:14 tumne kaha tha ki jo section hum assume karengai uska Zp zada hona chaiye Zp required se.
    Lekin jo tumne section liya hai ISMB 600 uska Zp tou kam hai Zp req. se.
    Tou iske baare mai thoda Clear karoge?

    Thank you sir. Your explanation is very good and helpful. But as gantry girder is a laterally unsupported beam, so the formula for moment capacity shouldn't be the one you have used. There's one another formula for calculation of moment capacity in IS 800. Isn't it?

      Look, there are two conditions given in IS:800, 1st is on page 53 (that we have used) says that, if design s.f. is less than 0.6xVd, then Md shall be used according cl.8.2.1.2.
      Now the condition which you are talking about is on page 69 & 70, which says that if there is high value of s.f. which exceeds 0.6xVd, then only we should have to considered Md as per cl.9.2.2.

    From step 6 , input the values and complete the design, and with respect to this design, detailed drawing has to be revised.

    In the question the self weight of rail section is given as 300kN but in step 2 you have taken 0.3kN/m how is it possible.

    In question the weight of rail section already given 300 KN then in solution it's equal to 0.3 KN/m and then summation equal to 1.9...????How??

      Thats because the self weight of gantry has been assumed as 1.6 which was added with the weight of rail.
      1.6+0.3=1.9KN/m.
      Hope it helped.

      b=3.5(given) and by dividing 3.5/2 you will get 1.75

    in calculating wheel load for impact you increased actual value by 25% while in calculating surge load for impact you calculated 10% of actual value and not increasing it by 10%.....can you explain why ?

    bro 7th step AV ke keya hai uski value keya ha
    8th step(fbd) ke keya value hai
    9th step (tw and fcd) ke value keya hai
    10th step (VA) ke keya value hai

    Design load on each wheel
    Increase wt by 25% i.e. 0.25 for impact
    (IS 875,Part 2,cl 6.1 P. 15)
    But you taken
    1.25*160.40 ( load on each wheel)
    How?? Explain once.

      You can assume it under some reasionable values. Like you can also assume it as 2kN/m or 2.5 or 3...but assuming it too much large or too much small is not advisible.

      Agar aap 160.40 + (160.40x0.25) karonge aur 1.25 x 160.40 karonge to answer same hi ayenga.
      Because dono cheeze same hai bus method thode alag hai.
