Lots of odd comments on this video. It's interesting to see what a purpose-built 125 cc bike can do against what looks like a stock 1000 cc bike. But, about the reaction time of the stock bike rider... do people understand what happens if you pop out the clutch on that bike trying to beat a bike with drag bars on the back? The bike might be catapulted to the finish of the race, but the rider will still be at the starting line. Maybe he could have been faster, but he can't just launch like the drag bike. Still it looks to me like, if that's a quarter-mile track (which why wouldn't it be) the 125 did about 10 seconds, which is crazy.

My count was about 8.5 seconds but I agree, a purpose built drag bike will always beat almost any street bike.

Many years ago I had an old Yamaha 125 trail bike with a 175cc barrel and head. The engine was ported and modified and the engine produced so much power I had trouble making the clutch bite. Its RPM was off the rev counter and on the road it would easily out drag bikes like the one above. It was stripped of everything to keep the weight down The engine was tuned from a 2 stroke tuning book and lots of work in my shed. :-) Two stroke engines can produce insane amounts of power.

That looks to be a standard handicap (bracket) race. Base on previous runs, the slower vehicle gets a head start so both arrive at the finish line near each other. Pretty common setup for local strips. They're racing against time, not really each other. You could get someone in a mobility scooter crossing the finish line first. It could've been closer but people discount how mean those tiny 125cc nitromethane two strokes can be.
You ever seen those tiny little RC cars flying down the highway doing 70mph? They have like 5cc engines and make like 4.5hp. That's because they're running nitromethane, and it's a two stroke.
That shit is super volatile though, I think Top Fuel dragsters might also run a nitromethane blend.
So it's more so the bike than the rider, unlike you flowing through corners better than the competition again and again and again.
@@ihateeverything3972 Actually my track bike is completely built; it has a full Norton Racing setup. I didn’t realize you were in my shop looking at my bike so I’ll inform you. The bike has almost nothing stock except the factory trellis frame; it’s a Norton built bottom end, Spears racing ported head package, Norton cams and springs, Norton air box with a DNA filter, it’s on a 420 chain drive, Vortex sprockets depend on what track I’m running, mirror deletes, signal deletes, fender eliminator, I run HotBodies full race fairings, I have a custom titanium stepped 2-1 header that cost 1/5th of what the original bike cost itself with a Norton slip on finishing it off, adjustable rear sets, passenger peg deletes, Galfer Superlite big brake kit, Barnett Hd clutch kit (non slipper), Ohlins S36 rear shock w/ reservoir, K-Tech front fork cartridge kit, OX Piega wheels. See where I’m going with this, the bike is FAR from stock. Also, I do real racing, not 1/4 mile junk.
@@ihateeverything3972 You have to realize some people actually like racing that depends on rider ability, not just a fast machine. I run a small displacement twin cylinderclass, 299cc-649cc displacement limit- so you have anything from Ninja 300s and 400s, R3s, CBR 300 and 500s, Ninja 650s, SV650s and lots of other bikes that fit that category. And trust me, even on a stock Ninja 400 I would still place top 5 because the biggest mod I spend the most money on is seat time, and I handle my bike very well. I’ve also been known to embarrass plenty of big bike owners on the street. 130 through a corner is 130 whether you’re piloting a liter bike or a scooter. Power only helps if rider ability is already equal.
@@kennethpowers8995
I don't know why you're so pressed. Sounds like a badass build.
Didn't expect someone to build out a Ninja 400, but that makes sense if you're competing for cups. I figured you were just some talent taking the right steps and working their way up to the 600 and 1000 class.
I don't like drag racing either so you ain't gotta tell me, I got bored of flying in straight lines @ 17, two years of experience riding street. I'm after the apexes and I'm gonna get this welding money and buy myself a paddock to live in haha.
Either way my point doesn't really change. Like I was saying the gap is massive, and a ¼ mile is more dependant on the machine than the rider. Yeah a good rider makes a difference, but man how much? Not enough to make up for that gap I don't think.
Like you said, some racing DEPENDS on rider ability. This ain't that, this depends on the vehicle's ability, and only one aspect of its ability.
Roadracing and track riding is a whole different animal, the guy on the bike is what makes the bike.
Hope to get an RC390 one day and keep up with 600cc bikes in the corners if not take em, they'll just slingshot past me but no worries. I'm not really after racing the smaller bikes, just want to take it back to step 1 and make sure the fundamentals of my technique are sorted out.
Where I really want to be is on 600s and 1000s, and on road circuits.
@@kennethpowers8995 A track build and a strip build aren't really the same though, both the bike and the skill set are optimized for the primary task they'll be engaging in. As much as I prefer road racing and oval racing over drag racing trying to gatekeep drag racing as some how not real is just silly.
Because it's so hyperfocused suddenly all those details that don't mean as much in a longer race suddenly matter a whole bunch. Think about what the margins are in a drag race, and how little time you have to recover from even the most minor of imperfections in your run. It requires a degree of perfectionism and consistency that isn't seen in any other motorsport, even if the duration is absurdly short. Every motorsport discipline involves a different balance of skills, but they all involve skills.
That sounds like a killer bike btw.
Damn! The little bike didn't do much of a burnout... Then! Big Guy gave him a head start 😅 Never again! Hey Greece 🇬🇷 ! Nice Dragstrip!
To be fair the 1000cc driver had a very poor reaction time and he missed a gear shift as well.....
He still would have lost...Ethanol super 250 built for straight-line acceleration.
@@wideyxyz2271 Not even close. First, its a 125. Second, AUW would be about 650 lbs for the liter bike and about 350 lbs for the 1/8th liter bike. The most powerful 125 can't overcome that. Third, this is bracket racing. Consistency wins, not speed. Look it up.
1000 cc build for long drag race or road race not short drag race , 125cc just 1/4 -+ to get top speed accleration
@@haywirexxxi9062 Again, the 125 was not a faster bike and the liter bike was not slow to react. This is bracket racing. I'm tired of explajning it to you newbs, so just look it up.
Plus, Weight is matter in Racing
The power of amazing 2 stroke engines
Power to weight ratio

Καταρχάς 1. δν υπάρχει περίπτωση παπι να ξεφτιλίζει 1000 άλλαξε την περιγραφή που έχεις βάλει 2.Το μηχανάκι είναι του casper όπως ξέρουμε όλοι και 3. i will hands down respect the guy on the 2 stroke , hes knows his business much respect , although other rider is a novice , he didnt see it comming on take off just saying
1000cc (no modifications) = 220 kg
125cc (modified for racing) = 65 kg.
1000cc remember?
Gixxer maybe 190 at best
I see wheelie bars on one bike, and none on the other bike. I totally expected this.
"stock" 1000cc vs "fully made for drag race" 125cc
Beratnya?
Itu knp ada istilah "your money can't buy driving skills" kinda like that
The tree lights weren’t at the same time, 125cc light was green way before the 1000cc
@Dimas Putra Hes saying the 125cc is a gun in a knife fight, and your saying the gun is only a 22 "small bullet" . Its still a gun.
@Dimas Putra You missed the point. Yes, it is a 2 stroke 125cc. Looks like its off a motocross bike. Probably making around 39hp. That drag bike is a 22. its going to stop a man with a knife "the gsxr1000" dead in it tracks. Due to power to weight ratio, traction to power ratio, wheelie bar to keep the bike down at WOT, gear ratios ect. That drag bike vs a circuit bike in a drag race who do you think is going to win? Think if the drag bike raced in the circuit race.
Wow !! I did not expect that !! Amazing.
(You don't expect this) completely takes the fun out of the video.... it hints that something unexpected is about to happen and as there is only 2 bikes... one low power the other high power.... so from the get go you are expecting the 125cc to somehow win.... so therefore we do expect this!!
The you dont expect this is what made this video millions of views. There are thousands of youtube videos uploaded every day, if u dont attract people's attention u wont get any views
It's simple. You can push the power of the 125 right away. But in 1000 you cant. You'll fly 😂✈️. Try rolling start.
agree
Not with a two stroke. You also will fly away with 125 two stroke drag bike if you go full throttle from the start.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo9ii
@@m5a1stuart83 lol, then try to give more distance. Or do top speed😂 you'll see
@@nanokenzo well we can try 500cc two stroke vs 125cc four stroke long distance.
You will see too...
😁😁😁
Would help if they both started at the same time , was like the 1000cc had a 3 second delay start 🤔🤔
How does that thin tire put down power into the ground? I'm surprised it didn't have any wheel slip give the power it's putting down to be able to get to sub 10.
Lower center of gravity, 2 stroke engine (more power strokes), better weight to power ratio. YEAH, NO DOUBT. Keep safe everyone ✌
totaly wrong concept
GSXR had the worst start I've ever seen in my life lmao
That's the magic of low end torque 😍😍😍
Huh? 125cc two strokes have basically fucking zero low end torque, all power is completely on the top end. Moot point anyway because the 1000 would've destroyed him if he didn't take a smoke break before launching.
@@nunyabusiness896 hahaha, exactly! The guy was tripping and the OP's comment is wrong.
You mean high rpm horsepower. That’s the only way a 2 stroke will make power. Low end torque would be a diesel or a fucking 🚂
first, there is a big gap in "P to W ratio",
2nd, the homie on big bike shift like a grandma 😂😂😂
Seems there's a difference in skill too
@@Freedm762 ya, the big bike guy can't shift like a pro
@Dimas Putrathere are no moron/stupid bikers, especially racers. but there are beginner ones. also there maybe some technical issue on starting grid. we never know
by the title i guessed the 125 would be quick, but it was still a lot quicker than i expected - crazy
Those 125cc drag races are pretty common in the Philippines
2 stroke power ♥️
Yes
Yes, I love my 185cc Suzuki 2 stroke
When you see a little bike with a wheelie bar you know it's fast so yea i expected it
