As a life long single digit handicap with some years only playing a few times. My #1 drill is tempo. I don't hit it more than 230 but having that consistent tempo makes shots more predictable and constant.
If you want the TLDR: 1. Get a coach 2. Lose weight and get healthy. If you're tired, overweight, and out of shape, you're going to have problems with your swing and you will get tired easily. When we are tired, we make mistakes more often, it's harder to stay mentally focused and in the right frame of mind. 3. Practice one or two drills 5-10 minutes a day for 20 days, vs hitting the range twice a month for a 1 hour+ 4. Repetition, repetition, repetition of that drill. Consistency is key.
I'm 6'2" and 220, I'm the build you're talking about, legs are fine, bit of a gut and love handles, I think I need to lose about 30, and the truth bomb you dropped hurt me in a helpful way. It's the kick I needed. Please keep up the good work. you gained a subscriber today. Keep up the good work.
You don't need to lose weight! Don't listen to these idiots! You might need to modify your training to make your body type work. But, I am 6' 210, a bit of a gut, love handles, but I know how to use my body to create force. I am consistently around 185 ball speed on the course and 195+ right now in speed training. Learn to use your body! It's not the quick fix hack they are pushing, but you don't need to change. You got this! I am 35 for reference, played college baseball, and can actually throw harder than I did when I was in college. Force=mass ×acceleration! My gut hits bombs, and so can yours lol!
Good video. I am a 2.4 handicap and my most impactful change was attaching my ego strictly to the outcome and accuracy of my stock shot, vs the yardage of my stocks. I used to be that guy that hit his P wedge 155 just because its "further than average". Now my P wedge is 135, 10 up per club. My stock swing now is very smooth and revolved around consistency in contact and flight control, vs distance. Just knowing what to expect from my swing gives me confidence i never used to feel.
The weight is EVERYTHING. Then I tried that stack system as a band aide and injured both wrist. I have to get this weight off me to play better golf. Everything you stated during that segment hit home!
My handicap starts with +0. and I don't break 80 always... I'm never happy about an 80 but they do happen once in a while and anyone who says they don't either stops keeping score on their bad rounds or they're playing on the tours...
I'm 42 I've been playing my best golf the last 3 years and now I constantly shoot in the 80s I've been trying to break 80 the last 3 years I've been close 14 times and just can't seem to do it lol and I no I can. For me it's the back 9.
Might be a combo of factors. But yes I can see how the back 9 might be an issue. If you’re ever looking for coaching happy to see if I can help. Dm me on IG @coltonkalkanisgolf
My swing speed is 108-112 typically. I only hit the ball 255-280 typically. My spin is 4000 range. I tee the ball kinda low because I lose the ball (slice or pull) is its teed up higher. What in the world should I do. If I tee it lower with that 4000 spin.. in 8 of 10 fairways. It's kinda crazy. But I want to maximize my distance.
Just need to make sure we spin it between 2400-2600 for that speed. Just need a consistent strike. Happy to see if I can support. Message me on IG. But we need to ensure we are having a consistent pattern.
I've never had the problem of being outdriven. 270 is on the low end and 330 is on the high end with an average of 295+ I'm 6'1, 225lbs. i DO have a probelm with keeping it straight on the fairway and not losing my ball int the trees, water or what have you. And frankly that costs far more strokes than leaving it short.
Always exceptions to the rule. However. Does he ever walk? Or always ride? What’s his actual biomarkers are like ? Quality of life? Actual health markers. He would gain a lot of speed too if he lost weight.
@@coltonkalkanisgolfYou really think John Daly would swing faster if he lost weight? Craig Statler was one the longest guys on tour. Rahm could theoretically drop some pounds. Young Nicklaus was chunky and outdrove everyone. Fat Perez is pretty extreme, but some people just carry more weight well. I remember seeing a triathlete that was a husky guy. Big was just in his genetic code apparently.
@@-Thunder Nonsense. Nicklaus also lost weight and it extended his career. Daly is a massive underachiever. Obesity is destroying our health system. Too many fat people.

you guys are kinda punks. haha Laughing that a 60 year old hit driver past you. Don't you want to hit it long in your 60's? You will be 60 some day so hopefully you are also hitting it longer than a younger player. And that is the beauty of golf - a 60 year old can compete with much younger golfers. Love your clips talking golf
Well guys, these are some very, very, very unpraised ways to get better at golf. With a focused consistency, simply maximizing health and small drills will improve your game immensely. (I’m a scratch golfer, I have a BS in Exercise Science, an MS in Exercise Science, and a TPI Lvl 1 certification.)
