Adam, you have my favourite driver swing in golf. No other swing taught me the important lessons. This game isn't about perfection, it's about enjoying this incredible sport and making the most of our own tool kit.
completely agree, i'm a big guy who hits big numbers with bad aim, toned it down and playing much better because of adams play and teachings. Consistency is key!
You have a follower for life!! You quoted one of my all time favourite sci-fi movies. Green - Super green. You should, when you hit a bad shot, say "Grandfather say, it not rain everyday"... please 😂
I played Puerto Los Cabos and Cabo Real while there. The tacos and drinks at the Puerto Los Cabos comfort stations were fantastic. Both courses were tough.
The ball doesn't care that your swing looks like a newborn giraffe trying to climb aboard a tricycle. The fact of the matter is that your swing path is a straight line (all swing paths are a straight line), so as long as you manage where that path is aimed, and where the face is in relation to that path, you will have a great swing. With your path going 9-ish deg in-to-out, and your face 3-ish deg closed to that path, it means a push draw that is very useable. Golf isn't golfswing. Golf is golf. And a golf swing is a golf swing. Golf doesn't really depend all that much upon your golf swing. You play to a great handicap becasue of your course managment, good short game, and most of all an over-the-top positive attitude.
I like the way you think. Course management is so important. I play with guys that immediately go into par 5's and have to get on in two or hit driver every hole. They don't play to certain areas of the fairway. If I steal they way you create your game play because I will be eventually showing my game play, I really like the way you do it personally. One of my favorite channels to watch.
Like the videos man. Just saying, we would all be single handicap if we played off the ladies tees :) Also, you are a great putter, best part of your game!
I love playing by myself and talking over each shot. I think it can really make you play better. Also, it's related to why I always get frustrated when I hear players discuss a strategy and then laugh it off or undermine their thought process by saying something like, "Oh, sure, like I can just do that," or, "If it was that easy, I'd do it every time." No matter your skill level, having a goal and trying to confidently accomplish it, will make you play better. Or get better. Or both! Even if you might not be able to pull of everything you try, try it as if you can!
you are my favourite golfer to watch on youtube. you have ups and downs and you analyse so well on what you think you did wrong. started watching you when you were in the double digits and it’s so fun to watch you in this single digit area. you have really helped me elevate my golf game 🙏🏽🙏🏽 keep up the good videos bro

Awesome! This was my bible: ruclips.net/video/aSSs7krl2SA/видео.html As mentioned by the Playa in Chief, your first few videos will suck. Accept it. You'll miss shots, get bad angles, etc. But you'll improve quickly! As for pace, I think you'll be surprised to discover that it doesn't (or shouldn't) hold up or interrupt play. In my case, I'm generally pretty fast over the ball tee-to-green (on the green I do settle in, though) and can easily play rounds in ~3 hours while filming, if the course can run that pace...

Thanks Adam, that was cool. Nice consistent swing action on every shot. And, good point about planning vs execution. That’ll be my takeaway. I’m probably very similar in game, also serviceable. Similar yardages. I think I hit a few more greens but chip and putt a little worse. I’ve bounced between a 6.7 and 9.0 the past 10 years, so it makes sense to watch your videos. Great advice to not focus on your swing but on planning when playing. I used to be single diget handicap and now I am struggling to shoot in the 80s consistantly. I keep trying to remember what I used to do back in the day. Well I only can play twice a week, where as I used to play like 5 days a week back then. So maybe i should be patient. I enjoy your videos.
5:47 This shot and the next go where your feet are aligned with. I know that some players are pull hitters, but on this drive, your feet are aimed 150 yards right of the target you picked. Next approach shot, your feet are aimed well to the right and on the pitch, well left. 7:44 you are perfectly aligned and hit it right at the pin. I just wanted to share the observation. Great videos.
The one time we went to play there, we got on the range, I hit 10balls and the bottom fell out and rained us out because of our flight time. But glad I got to see the course on here! Cheers! 🎉
great theory on the difference between driving range and on course.. you really shouldn't hit more than 50 balls max in a single range session.. and it shouldn't be all one club. Random practice is best, changing clubs and targets every swing or every couple will translate to the course better
Great video, as always, Adam! One thing I did notice. Especially when you struggled, but a few other times as well, your alignment is off. You aim, for example, at a palm tree but at setup your feet are aimed way right of that line. Closing yourself up a lot. When you do aim correctly (Club face at target and your feel left of that), your ball goes exactly where aim - like on the 13th. You swing more freely also. Something to keep in mind. Let me know if you ever come to South Africa for golf!
@@NotAScratchGolfer definitely. I don’t think we ever stop working on the game love so much. I’m figuring out so many things myself to the point that it almost takes the joy out of the game. Hey Adam. Been following you for a minute, maybe two. Either way, enjoy the videos and I like your thought/theory on the driving range and then to go play when hitting the driver. I'm kinda new to golf too. Been playing for 2 golf seasons and the reason I call it golf seasons is because of where I live. North Dakota, where there is snow for 6 months of the year and where I live is 100 miles from any indoor facility to practice golf. I have taught myself by watching videos and figuring things out and one of the things I learned was the tempo/Rythm of the swing, ball striking and what I noticed about the driver, when playing; like you said about the range, there are times that I have a 15 minute or longer wait per hole where on the range I can swing every few minutes. So my theory is that to remember form and tempo, few practice swings before hitting the ball but remember form and tempo.
Love the Vid Adam. Always have enjoyed your vids, but Great to see a longer length video. I like to watch the practise swings before you hit your shot, and hearing you talk about your round. Cheers

I'm *always* happy to be on the golf course. But like I mentioned in my video, the only rules of golf I think people ought to observe are: maintain pace of play & respect the golf course. Re-attempting a putt 5 times while the course backs up behind you is disrespectful, IMHO. Skill level doesn't enter into it.
Great round! You keep your anger in check so well on bad shots. I need to learn to laugh at them more and use goldfish memory. Any news on the Bandon videos? They’re beginning to feel like the lost tapes haha
grass is probably some combination of bermuda and paspalum (Bahia grass). paspalum does well in more arid climates and isn’t finicky as far as salinity of the water it receives which is often desalinated ocean water or grey water
The grass there is Bermuda, which makes sense, it's the most resilient grass in heat. Most of the Cabo courses use Bermuda for greens and fairways, but some use paspalum. It also helps explain why the practice green was slow and the greens very receptive. Bermuda tends to be spongy vs the bentgrass you would play back in Vancouver, which in summertime plays like glass.

Great round Adam, despite the slow back nine hurting your rythm. You naturally draw the golf ball (and I think it's your most consistent contact) so you tend to set up right of target. Whats your distances on 3hybrid and 5wood? Last season I chose to take 5wood out for 3 hybrid because they were within 3yards total carry, but was more consistent with 3hy and also I felt it had more uses than 5wood.
What you said about range rats was perfect, manage to hit 300 on the sim and on Sunday 6 topped/shanked drives that went OB, better off just playing 3 wood
It’s funny hearing about the beverage lady on courses. I’m in the UK, and I’ve never played a single course with a beverage lady. Must be a American thing.
This was on Feb 27th. This was my first time in Cabo and I don't know what conditions are like as the season progresses, but I'd imagine only good things :p
Next time you go as a single could you play balls from several tees to help demonstrate the differences and how it’s important to choose the right ones?
hey Adam would you consider putting a 7 wood in your bag instead of a 3 hybrid? i just did and it works wonders. it was very easy to hit and ball flight was much higher with same distance. i use it a lot cause i also strike my driver poorly
Spotted a putter change and had to ask how it's going so far? I really considered a 2 ball 10 when I was replacing mine last year but went with a phantom x 7.
I like the 2ball for alignment but found the 34" length to be difficult. I could have cut it down an inch (or an inch and a half) but I chose to abandon the experiment and go back to my normal gamer.
Yep. if I drive it well on flat ground at sea level, I hit it only 240-250. And depending on conditions (elevation, wind, turf), I can theoretically hit a "good" drive that goes 200 or 300+. I think it would benefit a lot of guys I play with to know the former number I referenced (i.e. how far they hit it on flat ground at a normal elevation). I don't *really* hit it 270, which is good for me to remember.
A quality conversation with beverage cart lady is my happy place.

Next time you go as a single could you play balls from several tees to help demonstrate the differences and how it’s important to choose the right ones?
Love this idea. Thank you.
hey Adam would you consider putting a 7 wood in your bag instead of a 3 hybrid? i just did and it works wonders. it was very easy to hit and ball flight was much higher with same distance. i use it a lot cause i also strike my driver poorly
I demo'ed a 7-wood on range a few months ago. I generally prefer the hybrid but might give it another go at an upcoming fitting day at my Club.
You had a tremendous round going until Marta came around!
She made the long back 9 easier to take. Indeed, killed the scorecard though.
Did I catch a Fifth Element reference in there?!?
Multipass
Adam, What's in your bag?
These days, the bag looks like this:
Driver: PXG 0811X 10.5°, Evenflow Riptide CB 50g 6.0
Wood: PXG 0341X 16.5°, Evenflow Riptide CB 60g 5.5
Hybrid: PXG 0317X 19°, Riptide 80g 5.5
Hybrid: PXG 0317X 22°, Riptide 80g 5.5
5-PW: PXG 0311 XP, UST Recoil Dart F3 Regular
Wedge: Vokey SM7 46°, S300
Wedge: PXG Sugar Daddy (ugh, what a name), 53°, V2 Elevate Tour S
Wedge: PXG Sugar Daddy, 57°, V2 Elevate Tour S
Putter: Scotty Cameron Futura 5.5M, 33"
Nice! Okay PXG 0211 myself. Great video, gain so much insight from watching you. Thanks from the UK!
@@NotAScratchGolfer just switch to the 0811XF based on watching you. Feel like it's a great switch for me. Cheers!
What’s your ball speed?
Looks like Bermuda grass, it takes getting used to for sure.
cacuya grass...nice job kid
Thanks! Is it kikuyu?
120 for me is a pw , full swing/take back but no power on follow through
Out of curiousity, what is your thought process with where you dropped on 6? Doesn't seem like you were anywhere near the "lines" for lateral relief.
Very confusing hole. My ball was in the desert basically parallel to where I hit it from.
I heard the guys on PGA radio say Kakuya grass about 15000 times a few weeks ago. Maybe it’s Kayuya grass
haha it could be. Although I played on kikuyu in SoCal and this grass seemed different. Think it's predominantly Bermuda but I'm not sure.
Duncan Paspalum?
I just googled Mexican Grass golf course, now I’m probably on a list somewhere.
Always having trouble to adjust, when you have a feel at the practice greens and it turns out that they are really different from in the course.
True, this is the worst.
You drove 270 on #3?
Yep. if I drive it well on flat ground at sea level, I hit it only 240-250. And depending on conditions (elevation, wind, turf), I can theoretically hit a "good" drive that goes 200 or 300+. I think it would benefit a lot of guys I play with to know the former number I referenced (i.e. how far they hit it on flat ground at a normal elevation). I don't *really* hit it 270, which is good for me to remember.
the grass in Cabo is Mota :)
lollll
Seems like you had a few margs at the turn. The driver swing on 11 was very not Adam.
I admit to nothing
What do you use as a tripod ?
It says "Optex Black" on the side but I believe other companies white label them. ~$100 at Best Buy :)
😁🤣feeelin' loose!
;)
I think it is Bermuda grass.
Thanks, his was my assumption but I wasn't sure.
Does he play blades? Is that why he doesn’t hit the ball far?
Nope, just a short hitter by nature :p
@@NotAScratchGolfer you’re a helluva golfer!
Did you rent the clubs for $70?
