Good tip on the chipping prior to the round... gonna use that next round. Also going to co-sign on the launch monitor in the off season. I used the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro this winter and I've noticed a huge difference in my first few rounds this year.
Nice video I subscribed about a week ago I am also a lefty played 27 years straight as a single digit handicapper. That was a while ago I still have a clubhead speed over 100 mph now 71 years old so I will try the shorter driver shaft for consistency. By the way my lowest index was 4.3 now a 18 handicapper 😥 you should look into the NALG very good left handed competition.
@@GolfBusters National Association of Lefthanded Golfers they have state,National and International tournaments used to have a couple hundred entries in the National. In 1985 I came in 2nd in the Ohio State tournament 74-78 for the 2 day tournament.
Great video. Regarding putting - if you use the exact same method as for chipping (easy putt and double that stroke length), you have 2 standard distances. You should test those before your round. You then get e.g. 6 and 12 paces for the day, or 10 and 20 for fast greens. Then the rest of the day you base your stroke length for each long putt on that. Will avoid quite some 3-putts.
I like this! I generally am pretty good at distance control but and struggle with keeping it online but I think I may have to start using this method to even better dial in putting distances.
Make sure wherever you go that you ask them to add some lead tape to the head and get the swing weight between D2-D5, other than that it should be simple for any golf shop to do!
Great tips. Totally agree, good golfers have to get their yardage down pat. A tip for you. Slow your back swing down a tad! Is shortening the driver much different to gripping down on it?
Thanks for the tip! I do rush the back swing, and I believe it is significantly different on the feel of the club in your hand, especially with swing weight.
I've been looking at a Taylormade Mini driver but I will give the shorter shaft a go first. I'm down from 24 to 12 hcp and am looking to get to single digits. The pause at the top of the back swing drill is good for slowing down your swing Cheers Eric
How much do the 1 length irons affect chipping around the green? Less takeaway in the swing? Looking at the dark speed one lengths and intrigued to see how they go
I went to 43.5 inches my first year and 44.5 after I got better with my driver. Go to a golf shop ask them to shorten your driver to whatever weight you want and then ask them to add lead tape to the head to get the swing weight to D3
@GolfBusters Pretend you're talking to an idiot, obviously not me, im simply asking for a friend, what does D3 mean and idk what my...I mean my friends weight should be. He drives the ball 250 long, and 250 to the right but slowing the swing down 205-225 straight depending on roll. I wish you had an email.....this would make it easier lol i hate being a 23.3 handicappppppp
Instead of cutting down your driver just grip down an inch. I have a 46 “ driver and on tighter holes I grip down for more accuracy and let it buck at the end of the grip on wide open holes
I'm really intrigued by the one length irons. I'm an 8 HCP been playing 3 years and irons are by FAR the worst part of my game. I like to joke that I'm a scratch short game player but a 15 HCP iron player and it's properly not far off :D My concern however are the wedges. A 7i wedge sound insane and my feel would be totally gone and I don't wanna lose my short game, but will the gapping be too far if they aren't the same length? Bear in mind, I only do full swing with my GW, my SW and LW are only partial/half swings. I suppose I just answered my own question when I think about it :p
I have single length irons and love them. After playing with them for a year I found myself struggling with my short game from 60 yards in. I purchased standard length short game wedges for anything within 60 yards. This really restored my short wedge game confidence. Life is good again!
I think it changes how it is swung with swing weight and such. I really think it’s worth it to cut it down until you feel awesome with your driver and then get it longer once you feel like your cracked with driver
Sweet. Ya I’ve read 10.5 helps for the high handicap/slice and has for me for last couple rounds. But I’ve been wanting to cut my driver down and going to do it tonight.
Really good, unconventional ideas. I love how scientific you are about playing the best score. Reminds me of Bryson. Not sure I am ready to fully embrace a shorter driver, but after how few fairways I hit yesterday it's making me think twice. I've been grinding really hard practicing, playing, and lessons, but I'm still struggling to lower my 16 handicap... Tough game, but I'm determined to get to single digits at some point!
Yeah if I had your mancave with simulator, I’d be on it everyday, I don’t practice therefore I will stay at my index of 24. My goal is to break 90 every five rounds.
It was just my experience on the best tips that helped me become a single digit handicap. I feel that’s more helpful coming from a golfer who was average than one who has been good their whole life.

Great advice
If im going to follow one length irons, which iron length should i copy?
My irons range from 3-9
I would suggest a 7 iron since for most golfers it is in the middle of the stance
Bro those iron yardages are insane. If i hit like that I am sure I would be a 6 handicap, but no idea if I will ever get my 5 iron to go 200 plus lol
Thanks bro 👍 the distance helps a lot for sure
Awesome stuff! Definitely gonna try to shorten the driver, and not beat myself up over it. You’re right…it’s a tough club to hit 😂

Should we shorten irons too?
Nope! Unless your shorter as a person

Just curious, but were you at North Kent golf course driving range a week or two ago?
I was! I had a little baby running around I believe when we met?

Do you play regular length wedges or the one length ones as well? Some good tips
One length! Just put a video out on it!

I choke down on them and I would say chipping is one of my strengths.

2 part question. First, how did you know how short to Cut your driver down. Second how did you get a cut

Would gripping down on the driver help?
I think it changes how it is swung with swing weight and such. I really think it’s worth it to cut it down until you feel awesome with your driver and then get it longer once you feel like your cracked with driver
It will help with accuracy. If my driver starts to get squirrely the first thing I do is choke down and slow my swing
What is your degree set on your driver?
It was 9.5 during this video 10.5 currently
I also play single length irons. Play cobra for years and just built custom TaylorMade P790s with single length KBS 120 shafts.

I think taking 1 inch off will 100 percent be worth it. I’ve felt no loss in distance and feel way more comfortable
@@GolfBusters Nice, thanks! Definitely comforting to know you didn't lose any distance.

He’s back to the short one again
I feel like short game is where the 1 length irons lose me
Maybe 1 length up to pitching wedge then standard wedges
Shorter 4, 5, and 6 irons is very interesting
I choke down on short game!
Shorter driver, consider a mini driver. Already manufacture to short shaft specification, no need to butcher your expensive driver.
That's a great point!
How important are practice swings? I usually don't take em unless it's like partial swings awkward lies and chips
I’m not sure, I always take them to get a feel for the lie
