I found it super interesting that the .5 second exposure wouldn't wreck the whole image like it would in a daytime shot. Shows I still have lots to learn!
I've learnt so much from this video...... I've always felt so scared of flash shots and of not being good enough (or even being frightened of asking someone more professional than me to help because I don't want to look stupid) ....but I can't thank you enough for showing the simplicity of the shots and how to trial things and have fun with images!!! You're a wonderful teacher and your work is fantastic! Have a happy new year ♥️♥️
Awesome man! You got some of the best how-to's I've seen. Been learning so much from you. I just bought your CTM presets and have been absolutely loving them. If anyone is looking into Chris's presets, get them!
Thank you so much. But how do you set your shutter speed? And other srttings in manual mode? I always miss this type of information in a lot of these videos on yt
Hey CT, ever thought about doing some "critique the wedding photo" show? Maybe you can start by explaining how you got a particular shot and then critique other photographs?
Awesome Chris, this is exactly what I needed. I have a wedding coming up in Oct on the GC and have never used a flash in my life nor shot a wedding (yes I'm freaking out lol). Thanks so much.
Hi Chris thanks for such a wonderful video. In your video you said to set F9 and have camera on manual focus and manually set the focus to 2m. is it something you can only set on Sony. I own NikonZ6 and not sure how set focus manually at 2m. Thanks
Hi Chris, amazing vid again! In the video you use just one godox v1 on camera, but I know you shoot with 2 cameras. Does your second camera have a v1 or trigger? How do you manage consistent lightning when using 2 cameras in the evening ?
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer these images are amazing ! Thanks for doing these videos. I’m just a keen amateur using a Canon 5d mark 1 yes the old one, would you recommend something like the A6000 from Sony as an upgrade (cannot afford much more than that) or a more modern crop camera to improve resolution, better iso performance etc ? Thanks Scott
Hi Chris, thanks for this video. The dance floor settings part is very interesting. Could you tell us how you get good shots at a wedding, when taking pictures od people sitting at a round tables (let's say ten people around it). Which lense, what distance, which aperture? I never find the right angle, can't get everybody in focus and people at the back are always in the dark. Thanks for your help. Thomas, Switzerland, Geneva
Lol, what a coincidences again... same camera, same lens, now also the same flash. When I've just been wondering if ordering the godox v1 was a good idea Chris comes around.
Hey Chris! Awesome video as usual - love your content! Do you use the ad200's for the first dance crosslighting, or do you use a single flash on camera like you do for general dancing (obviously without the shutter drag technique). Love the presets btw - bought both the V3 and originals :)
Would you consider turning your presets into a mobile version for lightroom? I know not all of the modules are available, so tweaks would have to be made on your end, but I'm in love with the look of them so much... So much so, that I'm actually in the process of re-editing all of my prior family photographs to have a consistent edit for future album creations. I would love to be able to apply your presets to my travel photos when I'm not able to edit on the computer.
This is like the Harry and Meghan photo of them in the rain holding an umbrella. But I'm not sure how they got that lighting in the background because it's not set up shot. it's a more candid shot. I do love these types of photographs.
Hey Chris, question...I'm pretty new to flash, and I had assumed the Godox AD200 was a continuous light (like the CameTV lights), but have ben told it's just a flash...so when you set up on stands behind the speaker, in front of the bridal table, across the floor etc, is it going off only when you hit the shutter? So not on all the time like a continuous light?
It’s not a video light no. Flash is always just flash. Continuous light is a different thing entirely. You have to shoot like you normally would so you can freeze motion with continuous lights. Only flash
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Ok, so no need to be concerned about it being a continuous light or not then, because ill be using it for speeches, dancefloor, and then creative style shots, so I guess as long as it triggers remotely, I am fine? I already have 2 x GODOX TT685s speedlites, which I use primarily for on camera flash (dancefloor mainly)...so thinking of keeping one of these for on camera, and getting the 2 x AD200 on stands to set up as off camera during reception! Thoughts?
@@jameswhite7850 I would learn more about it before buying stuff. They are two entirely different tools. Go on a RUclips binge on off camera flash vs continuous lights
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer I kind of have, and have spoken to others in the industry, but they tend to be videographers, so they obviously want continuous light, not flash. Based on this video (and speaking to HYPOP...a camera gear store), the AD200 should easily help me work a reception and create a bit of depth (as opposed to what I do now, which is just boost my ISO and get the speaker exposed that way).
Great video man - thanks so much. Quick question, I just got the AD200 w barn doors yesterday and can’t seem to get the barn doors off the flash head! Any tips?
Newbie here . I didn’t realise you could set a focus distance on manual ? Is that done on the manual ring that goes to infinity? Love your content mate
You're awesome Chris! Thank you for your work. Just have one question: do you use AD200 outside during the day? Was wondering if it is powerful enough to fill shadows even just a little.
How can this channel still have only 29K subs, it's just unbelievable.
Was thinking the same!!!!! He is too good!
@@SirTenoch Easy to understand explanation, engaging, no bs & knowledgeable! This "guy is good."

Only when using flash anyway. Think of the flash as a seperate exposure to the rest of the image.
This is gold 🙌📦 didn’t know I was going to get a free course on RUclips today ❤️
Found this quite informative and will give the settings a try at the next wedding if they are on the dancefloor.
Such an informative video. I really appreciate it! I’m new to adding flash, but I love this idea for the dance floor! Trying it out today!
Great video! Thank you! Wedding this weekend... excited to use the technique!

Fab video. I love dragging the shutter on the dance floor. Lets hope wedding dancing will be allowed again soon here in the UK.
Great tips! V1 shooter myself. Gonna use this now in a Golden Hour. Thanks, mate!
That photo is really something special
One of the best videos with great details on the subject. Thank you sir, and phenomenal photos you created!
Again, such a stunning photo! Thanks for the amazing review, and for putting this up so quickly!
Cheers! Thanks for explaining this in an effective and easy way to understand! Great video.

Are those flashes waterproof or do you have to try to protect them?

Ever gel your flashes, CT? While my passion is landscape photography, event photography can be tremendous fun, eh!
Hey Chris, If you only had one Godox flash for the reception, where would you put it in the room?
Hi, would u share your camera settings for reception lighting?
Looking jacked af
Killer video, as always!
😂
Great video mate! 👍 Thanks!
Excellent video. Thank you
Great video (again); very helpful, thanks!
Great video Chris!!!
Chris...... What shutter speed would you use for rain shots?
Prob doesn’t matter too much cause you’re using flash but maybe 1/60-1/250
Hey mate , do you have any BTS of that Indian wedding that you shot ? or even photos ? would love to see that one. thanks in advance.
I have shot heaps yeah. No bts videos

Great tutorial! Thanks!
If you set yourself up for back ambient, then use flash on the backside how do you get a decent exposure on the camera side
My images are not coming out very well with flash. I cant get the auto balance right. Any tip?
Picked up one of these and a V1 too haha damn you make me spend money LOL

I don’t usually but I have before, works perfectly fine if your close enough. Like an 80cm octa will work fine
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Thank you, good sir
Chris, do you change to Mechanical shutter when using flash?
Yeah you have to. Won’t work otherwise
Is the flash waterproof? :)
I don’t think so, but not sure. I think I’m just lucky. Really what you should do is just put a plastic bag over it but I always forget
Was going to ask the same 🤭. @chris thanks so much for this
Thank you, great tutorial!
