I grew up in Brampton in the 80s and 90s. The furthest main road on the North end was Bovaird and South was Steeles, West was McLaughlin, and east was Airport. It has grown insanely in the past 20 years. The traffic became horrendous, and insurance rates were intolerable. I finally escaped in 2019 and don't miss Brampton one tiny little bit.

I grew up in Brampton also since 1969 (kindergarten), the 80s and 90s were definitely Brampton's best years. Brampton still wasn't too big but it had a big city feel to it in places, the party scene was great because Brampton was loaded with bars back then and there was never any trouble beyond the odd drunk picking a fight and getting thrown out, unlike now where it's not unusual to hear about someone getting shot or stabbed. I also escaped about the same time you did and don't miss it either.

I’m with you. Have been living here for four years so the kids could be close to family and also I made a promise to my spouse of taking care of my elderly in-laws. But once they’re gone, no more reason to stay. Family can hop on a car or plane to see us if they feel like and vice-versa. We’ll be much better off financially elsewhere.

As an Indian myself, I agree. Not just Indians but south Asians in general. Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshi and other countries in south Asia. People wanna move forward here for a better life but they don't wanna change themselves. Not Indians are like that. I'm from south and I don't like this small mindset of many folks especially from regions like Punjab, haryana and Gujarat.

      2) People can criticize a city that is awful if they'd like. There's nothing wrong with that. It has nothing to do with judging others. It's talking about how badly something is run. Brampton is awful now.
      3) Being positive is great, but telling other people they have to be positive all the time is judgmental in and of itself.
