    Hace un año me encontré éste video y gracias a él, el 10 de agosto de 2016 viví uno de los momentos inolvidables de mi vida en compañía de mi hermano gemelo ciclando hacia el Padre Teide.
    Gracias por abrirme los ojos a tan maravillosa ascensión.

    Great video. Great (smooth) roads for road cycling and a great challenge to ride at high altitudes. Now I see why the Canary Islands are so popular for Pro cyclists.

    In the winter my parents live in Tenerife (Los Gigantes) - and that climb to the top is incredible. We descended via the route you take up here- amazing long descent! Also the hard route over Masca to Buenavista del Norde is absolutely incredible. Good work again Mike!

    Love this climb. Done it from Los Cristianos in the south and also on a 185km ride with over 5500m elevation around the coast from Los Cristianos to Puerto De La Cruz and then up from that side. Legs were smashed that day but it was a great day.

    Excellent ride! Question for you Mike - I am 60 years old and upgrading to a Canyon CF SLX, either the 9.0 with Dura Ace or the 8.0 with Ultegra. Your thoughts on Dura Ace vs Ultegra? Going to be spending time in Europe doing some of your climbs - perhaps even the Haute Route.

    • @TheColCollective
      @TheColCollective  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Kelly, it's hard to fault Dura Ace and Ultegra, both work super good from my experience. Overall Dura Ace is that bit more refined, a little lighter and I've found it to be more durable. If you can stretch to it I'd go for it, but as I say Ultegra will definitely still get you up plenty of mountains! Hope that helps. Enjoy! Mike

    Lovely ride, professional production (except for the captions, 2:10 - There are* six routes to Teide, 6:33 - where the pros* choose, plural, no apostrophe) down to the sponsor representation. It is surely pure coincidence that the pro team passing by rides the same brand of bikes as the presenter.

    • @TheColCollective
      @TheColCollective  8 лет назад

      +larry barman Hi Larry, super happy you enjoyed the vid! I'll be honest, I don't use power data so much these days (kinda got a bit obsessed and found I spent more time looking at my stem than the scenery which is the main reason I ride). That said I may dig it out again one day. I'd love to get out to Mallorca to bring some of those roads to life, including Sa Calobra. Just need to get the budget together, personally I'd like to do every climb / region that comes recommended to us but we have to be realistic too. Stay tuned, more vids to come. Thanks for your support. Mike

    Teide isn't a mountain, is a sleeping volcano. and is the biggest volcano of Europe (3718M) followed by Volcano Etna (3329) in italy.
    We don't call the sea "a big river" or the plains "flat mountains", let's call it by its own name. Volcano Teide.

    Its not the undisputed master of continious climb in Europe.
    Pico de Veleta in Siera Nevada is longer and has a lot more altitude (almost 2900m from bottom to top) - It tops out 1000m above Teide at almost 3400m !
    In the Canaries Roque De los Muchachos on the Island of Las Palma also has more altitude 2423m and - plus its a hell of a lot steeper no matter from which side you chose to climb it + it carries more wind than Teide.
    Both climbs are exeptional in the manor that you climb to the top of the mountain. It's spectacular to ride on the mountain ridge to the top - thes tto the top of an Ultra.
    Teide is still a tough climb and the sceneray is spectacular. The toughest way up is from the East (Granadila) via Arafo. Not from the south... Secondly the highest pavement is not inside the Caldera but at the observatories next to the nothern route just befor you decend into the Caldera.

    • @TheColCollective
      @TheColCollective  8 лет назад

      +Morten Reippuert Knudsen Hi Morten, thanks for the info. There are definitely longer, steeper, harder and higher climbs (many of which are on our 'to do' list including the great Pico de Veleta :-) Teide's claim is that is has the most climbing 'continuously' in Europe without a descent (sea level to 2,100 metres in 37km in one go, before you descend into the crater rim and climb further towards the Teide plateau). Although Pico de Veleta has more overall elevation gain there are a few short sections of descent at times so it's not continuous elevation gain. We chose to ride it from the south as it's one of the most popular routes up. Beautiful climb, hopefully many more to come. Ride safe and enjoy. Mike

    • @mortenreippuertknudsen3576
      @mortenreippuertknudsen3576 8 лет назад

      +The Col Collective - Roche De Los Muchachos from Santa Cruz de La Palma: from sea level to 2321m in 34km without decent - after that you reach a little palautau on the edge of the caldera rim followed by a short decent before you climb again from 21-2200m (base of the observertories) until you reach the paved top at 2412m (approx 39km). This is the top of the island without shelter so windspeeds comming down from the noth atlantic can be ridiculus. (not like Teide which are sheltered by the volcano and caldera)
      From the other side the last 16km are Stelvio/GrossGlockner steep on a rediculus curvy twisty and narrow road - (max 20%). -One of the few i really don't like decenting on carbon rims.

    • @TheColCollective
