    Anyone here after New York 2024 😂. Didn't know about this until he got banned from New York races. He is some bullshitter.

    Hey, Matthew. I heard about what happened in NYM. I am glad they banned you. Remarkably, some hope the banned would be lifted, maybe. Your team could have hurt someone, let alone hinder other runners' PBS. All it takes is one mistake causing an injury after months of training. The fact that you didn't consider this and still had your crew on the course is pure selfish. I had to jump over someone's dog in a half marathon in a trail run event. I landed awkwardly on a root and tweaked my ankle. The owner didn't say anything. I believe you're a representation of this from my personal experience. Maybe the ban will be lifted, but I hope you learned and really care for your fellow runners. You have a gift of running, do it right.

    I'm a serious runner and I respect the sport a 100%. Honestly, I'm all for ppl selling or transferring bibs. People pay for their races, life happens, they get injured, or sick, or whatever and they're put down for getting their money back or buying someone else's bib. Nonsense. Now, the right thing to do is to come clean with it but that's another topic.

    • @pushtherun
      @pushtherun Год назад +4

      There's definitely a path to transfer the bid properly through the RD. He for sure does not get it. His belief for what he thinks is right is definitely wrong.

      @@davidarroyo8895 As he says in interviews, his belief is that a lot of long time runners and those who follow social media won't like him or the way he puts out content. He does put out some good content AND can do very good things for the sport in attracting the younger crowd to the sport. However...content creators still need to use proper ethics.

    Uplifting to see that so many of the comments are calling Matt Choi's actions out. Matt Choi clearly knew what he was doing and that it was wrong, and obviously doesn't really care about the negative impact and negative influence he has by sharing his actions on socials.

    Sorry Matt but we want joe Schmo to start running. We just hate it when someone comes in and starts trying to monetize the shit out of it, to the point where the whole culture is just saturated with a capitalist type mentality. Elite athletes work hard to get a sponsorship, where as you can get joeschmo an iphone and all of a sudden Nike is knocking on the door. And the comment that you dont rely on what everyone else thinks of you is total false. If so then you wouldnt feel the need to post about it daily, because at the end of the day youre an influencer and at the top of it all, an entrepreneur.

      You say you want a "Joe Schmo" to start running, but then complain that he's a Joe Schmo who just starts running with an iPhone... you can't have your cake and then complain about it too.

    okay, was what he did technically wrong? Yes. Unethical? i mean, if you take running as a religion, or something, than yes. I think he ran a 3-hour time or something like that. Is that going to leapfrog someone else into the elite status of runners & sponsorships? I don't know, you tell me. Who did he harm by running w/ someone else's bib? In my mind, the only thing wrong he did was not pay for the actual race. So, i think he owes the Houston Marathon organizers $100 or whatever the fee is. I believe he also put some kind of apology response online, so what more do people want him to do about it? I think he's more a net positive on the running community than anything negative, to be honest. If you want to knock on him for pushing all his sponsorships, then okay, i understand that angle because that's pretty much the goal of majority of influencers online.

      Well he got a Boston Qualifying time (something lots of marathon runners try and fail to get) for his friend. He clearly knew what he was doing. Go watch videos of him running normal marathons and look at his bib - it's safety-pinned to the outside of his shorts. Now look at the bib in the Houston marathon video. It's underneath his shorts and the very bottom of the bib, where it said the runner's name, was folded backwards.

    • @blackbelt2000
      @blackbelt2000 Год назад

      The bib he ran under was already paid for by the person he got it from so he doesn't owe money to anyone.
