If you use a tall narrow jar, or jar with a lid that fits the diameter of 24sc at row 24. Depending on how you want to glue the head to the lid, you may want to add and extra row or two of 24. Then for the body, chain 24 and join to make a circle. Then you’ll probably want to a row or two of 24 before adding the arms for row 25. Then closer to the bottom when you start closing, insert the jar, stuff around it and Finnish closing the bottom. I’d suggest a narrow jar, cause the longer you can go before adding it the easier it will be at the end. 😊 hope that helps! I think I’ll pin this cause it’s already a popular question. Awww 🥰 thanks. I’ve definitely thought about it. My husband wants me to make a tractor. But I have a hard time with square shapes and not having to make them double sided with something inside to keep the shape. I bought plastic canvas to do that with a barn two years ago and still haven’t figured out how I’d video it, lol. Maybe in the future but for now it’s kinda outta my skill range. 😊
I am so excited to start this one for a friend! Thank you for the video! I have seen several others of yours and truly love how detailed you are! Only thing is, as a 30+ year seamstress/crafter, 3 year crocheter, I am absolutely ashamed of myself that I didn't think of using a crochet item as a pin/needle cushion before watching your video! lol Many lost needles later, and I find your videos! So.... thank you for that also! duh! 🤣
Lol, I’m happy to hear you are enjoying them all! In all fairness I’ve crocheted off and on for about the same amount of time, and that guy sat beside me for quite a long time before I thought about using him as a pin cushion. It definitely helps to keep from losing something you just had in your hand! 👍 🥰
Just saw someone make one of these bears and needed to check it out to make one as well. I hope a not-very-skilled crocheter can follow the instructions. Thanks for sharing

Not only for the finished products, but for the tutorials that helped me to understand what I was crocheting. Have learned so much from you. God bless and have a blessed day
You insert your hook in the next stitch, grab your yarn and pull up. Then insert it again in the stitch after that , grab your yarn and pull up. That should give you three loops on your hook. Then you’ll grab your yarn and pull through those three loops. (Does that help? I’m better at showing than explaining) 😊
Instead of going right into the arm row, you’ll want to do a chain of 24 and join it into a circle. At least one row of 24. Then continue with the arms and the rest of the body, and depending On the size of your jar, I’d add it somewhere between adding the legs and closing. 😊
I am puzzled as I continually seem to lose a stitch as I do each round. I cannot figure out why I come up and end up putting the final stitch into the beginning stitch in order to come up correctly?? Like losing a sick in the drier! Where does it go?
Hmmm you’ve got me stumped on that one. Is it possible your starting in the second stitch instead of the first, that’s the only thing I can think of since occasionally I find I’ve done the same thing and my yarn stich marker was hiding it. But I can’t see that happening for every row. If you can’t figure it out, try adding an stitch anywhere but your last increase so you don’t get a bump.
Thank you for the reply. Yup, it is pretty consistent. I am brand new to crochet and I have been trying to do plushies for my grandkid, so the stitches are hard for me to see with all that fuzzy. @@rhondadawnbutler
@@kevinorr6880 oh if your using fuzzy yarn, I can definitely relate to maybe missing a stitch, with the plush yarn I always have to redo the second row more than a couple times cause I never find the first starting stitch. That could be the problem to. I’m usually one stitch off in the second row, once it’s fixed everything else works out. How’d you end up making out?
Sorry no, I’ve looked into it, but I still can’t figure out how to set up a website, or join one unless I have some kind of PayPal account or something similar. Maybe in the future, but for now I can only add the pattern to the top of the video. 😊
Is that for the leg? I did ten stitches instead of 12 on the last row so when it’s closed the top of the foot faces up. You want to end up on the side of the leg. So you’ll want to do how ever many stitches get you there, for me it was 10. Hope that helps 😊
@rhondadawnbutler yes the leg, your caption for row 17 total you have it ending with 12 stitches, but then you start your caption for row 18 ending in 10 with no decreases, just 10 sc. I think that's where the confusion lies. I found the same thing, but understand what needs to be done. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. I'm loving this bear❤
@@sallyallison3907 yes, I’ll try and remember for next time to explain it better. But yes, you basically don’t Finnish the last row ending at 10 instead of doing all 12. So they are facing the right direction when we crochet them in 😊
I only sell locally, but you should be able to find someone who crochets in your community. Just share the link with them, and they should be able to help you out 😊
😅 Got down to row 45 and realized that my thumbs were pointed the wrong way! Oh well, guess I not only have a pothead bear, but one with an attitude too cause he's staying that way.
Awww, I’ve done it too. When I made my Santa clause. And that’s after adding a million arms, and saying make sure the thumbs are facing the front even more times. Lol. If you haven’t added the eyes or legs yet, you could probably just make him backwards, you just have to have a different stitch count on the leg row so they are centered on the back instead of the front. 😊
@@rhondadawnbutler i had already added all the parts. I'm making it for my granddaughter, and I'm sure she won't know the difference😄. This is my first time doing anything like this. I'm 68 and retired so I've got all the time the good Lord gives me to finish it. And thank goodness because my arthritis is making it more difficult. @@rhondadawnbutler I don't want to monopolize your time, but I hope you don't mind me getting this out there. I'm low level manic depressant, and I started crocheting to see if this helps. And it did so much. The granddaughter I'm making this bear for is also manic depressant. She has been diagnosed as the highest kind and ends up in the hospital at least once or twice a year. I am so proud of her. She's managed to finish 4 years of college and now holds a full time job. And I hope this gifted bear spurs on on to start crocheting. I think it will help her as much as it helps me. hi i wanna make this so bad my man says no more yarn till i use most of what i have lmao so i have only worster yarn can i make this adorable bear with the yarn i have or do i have to have the yarn u uesd?
I’m pretty sure what I use is considered worsted weight yarn. You can pretty much use any yarn, you just want to go a couple of sizes smaller than the recommended hook size. And it can be any color. I just saw one done in orange which I would of never thought of using and it was beautiful. 🥰
I can’t do Etsy cause they need a PayPal account to load patterns. I’ve definitely tried various websites and they all seem to need some kind of online payment info. So for now I only do it this way, but occasionally I try looking into it again.
Yarn under makes a tighter and neater looking stitch. I kinda grab and twist, but the yarn technically goes over not under my way. It’s hard to tell but I’ve tried yarn under and my brain doesn’t want my hands to work that way, lol. If you can do it though the resulting stitches are really beautiful. More of an x than a v.
I've recently started crocheting these critters ( can't spell amagurami without looking it up) and I find that yuyo works best for me. It's easier on these old hands and I don't have to struggle as much as I would doing yuyu or yoyu. I always struggle with pulling that last loop through on yu. It also has me making the tightest stitch. Hope this helps.

Lol, you had me second guessing too. I just measured them. They are 18mm. I think I thought they were 20 mm when I videoed the eye painting part. But I didn’t double check. These eyes are off Amazon. They have the three pieces, eye, sparkle washer, and back. (Search 18mm clear safety eyes) I believe it’s the 300 pc for around $20.00 but every time I go to my shopping list to reorder them they seem to change. (Right now the description says they are 16mm) I try and look at photo reviews to see if they are the right ones.
If you go to my face book craft page there is a post for this video, you can see some finished ones, as well as maybe get a better response from those who have made it already 🥰 facebook.com/ARtDesignsandCrafts?mibextid=LQQJ4d
It’s definitely possible that you needed to do twelve depending on how you pushed your stuffing into the top of the foot. As long as you end up on the side of the leg it will work out perfectly. 😊
You could make a stash pocket ...or instead make like a Cookiejar ..Crochet his belly around something like a coffee container and legs and arms around it
Im missing the transcript. I cant keep up with your crocheting so i pause and then skip ahead with the written transcript. I love your tutorials but missing the transcript on this one.
RUclips does the transcript automatically, I’m not sure why it’s not on this one, but I’m wondering if it’s certain words used during the video that’s not allowed.
I would sell mine for about $35.00 Canadian. I weigh my materials, find the cost per ounce. Them weigh my finnished project an times it by three. Giving some wiggle room on how much extra sewing and embroidery I end up having to do. Hope that helps 😊
I've finished my third bear. Yea, so fun with this excellent tutorial! Now I'm starting on my fourth, but the request os for a "gloom emo plushy bear". So I'm going to attempi it with a double strand of lighter #4 weight black chenille yarn (it's all i have). Do you think i could manage this with a 6mm hook?
You should be able to. I haven’t tried double strand yet, but I’ve seen my dragon done that way and it looked awesome. As long as you can grab both stands comfortably it should work out for you with that yarn/hook combo. I bet it turns out gorgeous! ❤️😊❤️
@@rhondadawnbutler am at the body. Worked great, looks great. A lot bigger than the other 3 and have to get more yarn to finish the body🙂. I'm still not certain what color to use for the secondary color, afraid that using white would make it look too much like a panda. Any suggestions? The yarn is black with tiny silver sparkles, so it really doesn't look very emo gloomy. I would go with silver, but not available in the sparkly. @@pamelaferguson7766 I personally like the look of bright neon/fluorescent Color’s with black, but I’m thinking that wouldn’t be very gloomy either. You could go with grey if you can’t find silver. Or if you do a blue moon, blue as the secondary color might look cool too. I’m bad at picking Color’s . I still haven’t started my dog or cat cause all I can think is grey cat/brown dog. I am so excited to start this one for a friend! Thank you for the video! I have seen several others of yours and truly love how detailed you are! So.... thank you for that also! duh! 🤣
Lol, I’m happy to hear you are enjoying them all! In all fairness I’ve crocheted off and on for about the same amount of time, and that guy sat beside me for quite a long time before I thought about using him as a pin cushion. It definitely helps to keep from losing something you just had in your hand! 👍 🥰

To do the decrease, do you just skip a stitch? I dont understand
Hi, how much yarn is need to do the bear? Hes fab xx
I believe it’s in the description, but I used about 4 ounces of the main color. 😊
Thank you for the reply xx
Hi! I love your videos, they are amazing! If I am using a jar, how do I start the body?
I am not so sure it is being done well. I am winging it. I am looking at this as a learning exercise. @@rhondadawnbutler
I always use a stitch markers on my first and last stitch. Seemed to help me😊

Sorry no, I’ve looked into it, but I still can’t figure out how to set up a website, or join one unless I have some kind of PayPal account or something similar. Maybe in the future, but for now I can only add the pattern to the top of the video. 😊
Was it a typo in 38:57, Bc on round 17 we do 2 sc and then a dec for 12 total stitches then we have 10 sc in row 18?
I get it now, you only sc in 10 of the 12 stitches lol
@@sallyallison3907 yes, I’ll try and remember for next time to explain it better. But yes, you basically don’t Finnish the last row ending at 10 instead of doing all 12. So they are facing the right direction when we crochet them in 😊

Question
Does yarn under make a tighter stich?
I am a yarn over crocheter, but i notice you do yarn under
. Or am I mistaken?
