Dude Luke Skywalker was a badass, and now they made him into a bitch.
By erasing John, they also erased Sarah's importance. Also, erased is the message of the original film of motherhood and hope.

This film is about individuality which is a stupid reason because she didnt earned it that much all she did was giving em hope in one scene but thats not enough a leader does leader things which is why John in T2 came up with the idea on destroying Skynet before inception in their timeline.

Point the movie is trying to make is that judgement day is inevitable. John connor isnt important anymore because the actions in t2 stopped that version of judgement day. Man will continue to create an artificial intelligence that will eventually become judgement day and the human race will always win in the end. "Human created it, humans can destroy it" Grace made it clear in the movie. John dies in the beginning because he is no longer important. They destroyed the arm and chip in t2. No more skynet = no more john Conner leader of resistance caus it never happened.
This movie shouldn't exist.

Two ironies: They made a token gender switch and sitting right there is Linda Hamilton/Sarah Connor, one of THE earliest badass female characters I can remember. Like we've already done this - and properly too. Second: They mock "your womb is important, not you', but that is precisely part of what made T2 great - Mother's tenacious defense of what comes out of that womb - her son. In comparison, New Female Lead Character has no emotional hook with the audience. She wants to be ME - NOW - not live in a mineshaft - end of story. Well that story isn't remotely in the same league as Sarah Connor's story.

I personally wish that the order of the films would have just been T1, T2, Terminator Salvation, then another future war film that continued the battle against Skynet with an absolute ending with some epic final battle against all of the remaining humans Vs all of Skynet lol I believe that would have been perfect 😂

And I like how he casually walks away after shooting a child in the chest with a shotgun at point blank range and no one dose anything to stop him or pursue him. No cops or anything lol. He just somehow ended up being able to move into a nice little house in the woods and then this robots feels "guilt" for murdering a kid.
That opening seriously hurt when I saw it, that felt like a knife to the gut and it pissed me off for the rest of the movie.

I actually feel like these are VERY different scenarios. Hicks and Newt were (amazing) side-characters, but NEVER the core of the franchise story. I actually loved the shocker of their deaths, as it was brutally realistic, even though I absolutely loved and missed their characters, it felt like an actual plot development, instead of a “how can we make a sequel?” Scenario, like Dark Fate does. In this franchise though, John Conner has ALWAYS been the absolute key to the series, even if Sarah is technically the protagonist.
So basically, I agree with your point, even if I view it a different way.

If John Connor dies in this film it makes no sense and I won't watch it. Therefore, in my universe, there are still only two Terminator films - T1 and T2.
I can appreciate John being replaced if Judgment Day gets pushed back to the 2040s, but he'd only be like 40 in 2020. John Connor should have been the mentor character passing along his own torch.

In T3 the Terminator told John that he killed him. So its all just a plot about Timetravel and possible Effects of it. Every Terminator had another Actor playing John. The only shitty thing is the showing of the killing of john. Just like it was edited on a fullrush in 2min. And the execution also sucked cause instead of just blowing johns head off with his shotgun he shoots him in his chest so they can still have a joker - yeah john survived this attack in the next movie cause nobody wanna see the politic motivated "female hero" and "legion" shit.

Having the girl be the 'Dyson' of the world to found Legion sounds like a much better idea. That would have been _something,_ at least.

Or had Michel Dyson Jr be the creator of this new AI named Legion which is a even better Idea. Also have his wife be the military contact for Sarah. In my rewrite they remade Skynet but she began to learn at a rate not yet seen by others and John being the president asks to speak to Skynet after learning they remade it. They form a bond of some short like sister and brother bond and Sky net beings to understand more humans emotions. Then Legion is developed by another corporation by Michel and Danni’s character and shit happens. Sky net or Skylar even becomes a hybrid in my version which takes it further and tries to at least be in line with the lore of the show and brings in some comics to it as well.

That scene with Sarah just being depressed talking about John sitting on a log near Carl house was quite emotional. Fun fact: there's a very similar deleted scene with Sarah and Reese in the original Terminator.

In Terminator 1 Kyle said that they did already win the war, in the future, it wasn't necessary for Skynet to mess with time travel during the war because it was using resources to fight the human resistance.
Skynet sent a Terminator back in time as a last ditch effort to win because by that time, the human resistance had already won, thanks to John Connor. Skynet actually inadvertently created John Connor as a warlord because they introduced a Terminator to Sarah Connor, giving her knowledge due to Kyle's time travel, thus concluding in Terminator 2.
TL;DR The future resistance won the war. Skynet only sent one Terminator because it was a last ditch, desperate attempt to assassinate the future leader, only to end up creating him. A paradox, which is why the first two films was so brilliant.
And a Terminator shouldn't feel anything, that was just dumb to put in the movie. I saw an AD on Twitter saying "even a machine can become human." They probably thought it was a good idea to do that. T2 did that way better by having uncle Bob sacrifice himself. In T1 Kyle said Terminators have no concept of feelings.

Ed Furlong has been in and out of hospitals and rehab centers for years. He lost custody of his baby son, who was allegedly tested positive of cocaine. Add to that his cases of close relationship violence. He's not a sane person.
I actually didn't mind John Connor dying. They stopped Skynet in T2. His mission was over. Saying that his death made T1 and T2 pointless isn't really true in my opinion. They did everything they had to do. This is another threat, that requires new things.
What I wasn't a big fan of is that they just did the same thing again. Another kid that is supposed to become the new big fighter of the future. I would have preferred a "smaller" movie than what we got.
With T2 it felt so real, even though it was fake. Because they actually did a lot of the stunts. Would have loved to see more of that instead.
That said: I still thought the movie was "good". Nothing spectacular or anything, but a fairly good time at the movies. A lot better than anything else we've gotten since T2.

I watched Terminator Dark Fate today with my dad. The things liked about the movie are the action scenes and the one thing I don’t like about the movie is that they killed John Connor.

Joe, I wish you would touch on the review boosting that is taking place on rotten tomatoes. The 4-5 star user reviews that are being posted in 1-2 minute increments by “verified” reviewers with generic names and no avatars is highly suspicious. I think the studios have found a way to game the user reviews. Either that or Tencent is trying somehow to recoup their initial 10% budget investment.

Natalia Reyes was so annoying and RUINED the whole movie!! Almost cut the movie off several times because of her even at the end! Arnold was the only good thing about this movie!

When they said Legion I immediately thought of Starks Iron Legion, then I started creating my own head canon for a Marvel/Terminator mashup where Ultron is winning in the AI uprising creating the Terminators in a separate universe.
I’m more confused about how the T2 Terminator wasn’t aware of this separate Terminator when it came to eliminating Skynet, especially considering Carl was well aware of the dates and times of Terminator arrivals.

I want a movie that’s like Salvation but good. Not the same story, but I liked a couple things about it.
One of my subscribers stopped counting at 113 F-Bombs in my EPIC RANT about this shit stain of a film. As a life long Terminator fan I just didn't care if my video was demonitized.
Either your franchise dies a hero, or lives long enough to become a villain.

The concept of an irrational urge to take out frustration for an "illogical" reason totally eluded him in this instance.

When they killed John Conor, I was really thinking about walking out of the theater, but then through out the movie, I ended up enjoying it.
It's definitely 3/10. The moment Arnie arrives on screen it turns into a parody of itself. To a lesser extent Linda Hamilton. First act was good and I thought Mackenzie Davis' Grace was a great new character. After act one though it abandoned any attempt to take this franchise forward in a serious direction and turned into a CGI laden bunch of set pieces and stupid fucking jokes which shouldn't have a place in this universe. Not surprising really given that the director's previous work was action comedy. This was an action comedy. Shocking. T1 was a sci fi, action, thriller and horror movie. We've gone from that to action comedy that is so far removed from Cameron's vision of this universe. So, so disappointing. The wait for another great Terminator movie continues.

What if Dyson's kid was supposed to be the leader of the resistance after his meeting with john, sarah, and uncle Bob but John being killed changed the future and made it just different enough....idk

When they killed John they also shit on the TV series where he was a teenager. One of the things shown in the TV series is that the Terminators have Primary and Secondary objectives/targets. So if this took place in the TV series that Terminator would have killed John and Sarah together, it makes absolutely no sense for it to just walk away.

So basically... In trying to fix up the paradox of T2 (if skynet was destroyed no Terminator should be sent back) they ended up creating a even larger paradox (no John Conner means no Kyle Reese meaning no first movie and no Sarah for this film because she would not have known of terminators)
I always saw it as three timelines. The first which is the original timeline which goes all the way up to salvation (everything seems to be in line with what was discussed before)
The second timeline is dark fate which branches off from T2's tampering
And the third timeline which is the 'paradox' timeline which is T1 is replaced with Genesis.
Though ironically enough Genesis actually had a explanation for how earlier terminators could exist in later timelines, when your time traveling your stuck in your own little bubble and thus resistant to a extent to timeline changes and only start being effected after you come out of the bubble (we see that happen in Genesis)
Edit:mind you I am referring to movie timelines, realistically every movie is its own timeline since the very act of going back in time alters the past and future.

After giving the movie an 8/10, AngryJoe's first rant is about how the plot doesn't make any sense. It's a 5 at best because not only does this movie screw up the story it throws in a dab of wokeness and politics just to remind that the world sucks and Hollywood is still mad Trump got elected. Screaming, tensions, breaking or punching something is a psychological release.
