Back in the 1960s, when I was a young kid, my family vacationed all over Florida. One of my strongest and most favored memories was Anastasia State Park on the beach near St. Augustine. The beach there was so beautiful and had such a tropical feel to it due it having many palm trees in the dune areas. I don't know if it still has the same charm but if it does, it could warrant a barefoot visit.

    • @BarefootVlogger

I have been there brother you must've missed it. Stayed overnight in my RV and did a livestream and ebike ride on the beach. I'll never forget it. You should check out my Playlists of the entire RV roadtrip. It's one of my favorite things I've ever done on RUclips. Here's the link to one of the videos if you're interested. Thanks Robert!

Thanks barefoot. I did watch that video, but I guess the palm trees in the dunes are likely gone now. Perhaps lost to a hurricane. I was hoping maybe you just missed that particular area of the park.
As a side note: As valued as your videos are to many of us northerners with fond memories of Florida from times past, your videos could become especially valued in the future for those making memories now. And being that there are so many of us, there's probably no place you can visit that will not stir someone's interest.

So kind Robert, thank you brother! I thought that after they imploded the Deauville in Miami. What I saw was obviously the skeletal remains of a bygone era but now it's complete rubble.

Just got back from there yesterday, great town to vacation at. Stayed at a very clean ocean facing condo on B & B for $108 a night. It's best to go there when the kids are back in school because we mostly had the condo to ourselves. Used to stay in Daytona Shores for years but New Smyrna has a much better vibe going on. Great video!

Thank you Bare, this is fabulous. My kind of beach town. Sadly these places are becoming so rare. A lot of beach towns think that if they tear down all the old, smooth all the rough edges and get some big hotels that they will improve themselves as tourist destinations. Those ones are indistinguishable from each other. This place is a real and rare gem. I hope that they know it. Good luck to the guys at the Patio Cafe and all the local characters and business owners. I would definitely love to visit NSB!

This is where Central Floridians go to avoid the busier, tourist areas, although tourists are always welcome! A quiet beach community with lots of great local bars and restaurants. A favorite for Orlando residents because it is only about an hour away. We love to go there for an afternoon to take a walk on the beach and have lunch on Flagler Avenue. Mother's Day, 4th of July, and Memorial Day are great times to visit. Yes, it is called the "shark attack capital" but don't let that scare you away. Still very few actual attacks and they are almost always minor and accidental. The sharks aren't there for the people. They are there for the fish. We love this little town so much that we had our son's Senior HS photos taken there.

@@BarefootVlogger No problem! You gained a new follower today. Your video on the USS Indiana was fantastic. One day, you need to go to Honolulu to do the USS Missouri. The Arizona Memorial is great but they wouldn't allow blogging unless you received special permission, but the Missouri is an historic Battleship from World War 2 where the Japanese surrendered. Also, it was featured in many movies. Great job, man!

love the cars on the beach. For years in California I had to drag what I had from the parking area to the beach and this just makes it so much easier. And when it rains I could just jump in my car right? This 4th of July I may be just doing this...driving on the beach in Oregon. I'll post pictures on facebook if we can make it happen.
