If he is serious, I don't understand why he needs a daily... I mean AMG GT is ok for daily driving, its not that huge or difficult to drive, its comfortable, it has a big boot and acceptable fuel economy. If he just needs something with 4 passenger seats and even bigger boot, I'd just save money and get a low-mileage diesel VW Passat B8 or Skoda Superb and rather save money for a better upgrade to the AMG GT later on.
there is not much point in getting two expensive cars (like £100k and £40k), much wiser to get one supercar or sportscar (say, £120k) and one cheaper second car (say, £20k)

why is that?
well, for one, it's not proper AWD, it sends majority of the power to the front majority of the time. secondly, for the money, you could get a decent focus rs which is proper AWD and still have money to tune it. I have an A45 but it's not as reliable or as fun to drive as the other cars, I'm actually thinking of buying a 140i as a replacement
yes, that is true, I saw that problem in the forums but the 2017 model will have the revised diff and also, because of that price difference between the a45 and the RS, you can always use the remainder of the money to improve the rear diff cooling and plus the RS has drift mode, everyone loves saying that, even if it doesn't work 100% half of the time

Nobody who can afford it wants a Ford haha. There are cheaper alternatives that are as good though. BUT this is a merc and it looks far better than its competitors.

If you want a fast hatch that's unique get a MK2 Focus RS Paul, brilliant engine, unlimited tuning opportunities, huge boot etc and around £20k to £26k

If you want a hot hatch that is reasonably priced but keeps you on your toes look at the seat leon cupra 290. i have a diesel leon fr 170bhp and i absolutely love it. they look great have a lot of peformance and also have the 5 door practicality

I will be the rare person here who has actually driven the A45... and let me tell you, its complete sh!t compared to the rivals. Yes, the engine is great and its a really quick car, but elsewhere its not that great. The interior is really outdated, the ride is quite harsh and its not that fun to drive (at least for me). From the practicality point of view its ok but not great.
I'd totally wait for the facelifted RS3 instead (much better in most aspects) or get an M140i (most fun) or Focus RS (also great fun) or Golf R (best for daily driving) instead.
Somebody got it. As a youtuver he needs a fun car so RS. If he wants speed than RS3 or if he wants a daily the R. My personal favourite is RS

It's all bullshit, I own A45 FL, GOLF R and my friend has M140i but with rear wheel drive. Interior in Benz is best quality, simple, it's the fastest(depends on the exact build, but on track its a BEAST), stiff suspension, safety (4MATIC is amazing, you can turn off ESP and have some fun). The Manual Mode is AWESOME, the gearbox is the fastest of all of the cars on the market right now.
The only problem is Race Start is very hard to launch and it has a very little fuel tank, nothing else.
Golf R is nice, but slow, suspension is no good for a sports car, a lot of unnecessary options, very slow media system.
BMW is fun, but the interior is from the 90s, media system is also slow and lacks a few options which are standard on benz, the rear wheel drive is very fun, but for a daily or a car in which you travel a lot it is a big problem.
Audi RS3 gets a FL now, so it's hard to compare, but the main issue is the price, which is much more than a good spec A45. Also I just don't like the way Audi builds new interiors(sided for the driver, and isolating the passenger).

Hey Paul me and mum had one recently. The facelift 2016 and honestly I'd recommend the RS3. The A45's exhaust note gets boring after awhile and it's a lot harder to drive when compared to the RS3!

I'd rather have a 1.5 petrol MX5 instead of an alpina D3 (345bhp, 516lbft, fastest diesel car in production). It's not about 0-62 time, it's about the driving experience, and a fast tractor is just a fast tractor.
Petrol heads care about the driving experience, and laugh at the saddos on the M1 in the endless sea of 2 litre diesels.

one of my friend got the A45 and he said the car is really good but in terms of daily driving, this car is not comfortable and yet he said A45 is abit thirsty. Imo i go for vw golf rs.

rwd, super fun...not 50k like the M2, but still a great drive. I use mine as a daily and do 600 miles per week.
can be a quiet motorway cruiser when you want it to be, or an absolute sideways hoonigan too.
Mk 3 Focus rs is appreciating and the mk2 is cheap and should appreciate as it has done most of the deprecating. Also the mk1 was £17,000 new and is now worth about that now so the focus rs is a safe deprecating bet even though it is a ford.

Paul, I've been watching for a year or so and really like your channel and your personality but lately the channel is becoming very monotonous and video's bland, always the same type of video and same editing style. You've got so much potential but if you learned how to edit like Sam and raised your game, you'd gain so many subs and views and would be closer to getting that 911 you want. Try collaborating with other RUclipsrs outside of your friend cycle. Come on Paul, I know you can do it.

you should get a e90 bmw m3. You could get one with 414 bhp and 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds for around 19,000 pounds on piston heads or if you don't like the coupe spec you could go for the saloon version

If you can get the gt350r if you can get it in the U.K. You should sell the Amg gts Because the gt350r has magnetic suppension so it wouldn't be that stiff and if you keep in comfort and drive sensibly it won't be that loud.

What about the Renault Clio/Megane RS (about 30.000£). I owned a Clio RS Trophy (2015) and it's rapid, has good cornering and it's comfy at the same time.

As I already said: YES! I mean, Focus RS sounds cool too, but only about performance (maybe). The interior, infotainment system, materials etc on the A45 are totally different. Besides, the RS is manual and if you don't want to keep shifting in traffic or in town, A45 is still the best option... (or maybe the RS3... but I still prefer the little powerful Mercedes)

i sat in a 420bhp a45 and it literally felt like there was no gravity.The rush the car gives you can't even be put into words.anyway as quick as this car is i personally think the rs3 is a better daily and sounds better much,much better

Seeing as your into small fast hatchbacks, I suggest you have a look at either a mini cooper JCW or a bmw 140i M sport.
why don't u look at the vw golf 7 R with the dsg transmission
+Supercars of London Bmw M240i - 5 doors, a boot and a 3 litre straight six twin turbo for less than M2 money. Tuneable as well. Intake filter, straight through and a remap would make it pretty fun. Can testify that they are fast, really fast.
From a R8/A1 combo (then Lambo/A1) to a GT/A45 one? Seems like a good idea, switching from VW group to Mercs.
Go for a classic - Audi RS4 B7 - 4 door, good boot/trunk, 4.2 V8, depreciation is done and you're going to modify it anyway ;-) oh and as the interior is from 2006 you'll definitely have to learn it!! Mines near Tower Bridge if you need a test drive :D
I'm shocked you haven't even mentioned the Golf R. Can get a nice spec one for around 20k now. And extremely tunable - 500+Hp with ease if you want - with decent MPG and plenty of room.

Paul, obviously you should wait for the new RS3, its obvious. Its different to your A1, it will sound mental, probably the 5 cilinder TTRS engine with 400hp, be patient, and buy it. It will be new, low depr, and it will be packed with sick tech.

A45 doesn't like to rev, it's kinda like a diesel. Of course it's pretty quick but as a sports car or a hot-hatch, you can find so many better options elsewhere.

dude try vw golf gti/gtd/r , especially the gtd will be very very very economical to take care of and also to fill the tank
might not be the best option but I'd wait a bit for the giulia quadrifoglio to depreciate. the performance isn't too dissimilar to the AMG gts before it got the upgrades
