    Few more things
Dont overfill over 5.5 l in oil cause u will bust the crankshaft oil ring ( squeaky noise near the belt )
Thermostat is a very common thing to break on these cars so be careful about that ( the hose next to it will also bust open and you will need to order it directly through mercedes )
Charge pipe and turbo to intercooler coupling need to be checked as they are known to bust open.
The turbo has watercooling, the container is under the engine cover and does not have a sensor so if it is low on coolant you won’t be able to know . Always check and top up if needed ( u will feel the car struggling to pull if empty)
ECU tune the car and update the gearbox software to the newest one ( if you have the pre facelift version of the car ) - it will make a night and day difference
If the panoramic roof is broken or closes only on one side ( for those equipped ) the plastic sliders have broken and u have them on ebay for 10 to 20$
Best oil for this car is 0w40 ( quantity 5.5l ) ( the stick will be at bare minimum but the oil heats up to 109c and fills the gap)
Change Trans oil every 30,000 KM
Change diff oil every 20,000 to 30,000 KM.
Change plugs every 2nd service ( cheap and easy to change ) make sure that u order through mercedes.
If you cannot fill it up properly then you need to clean the EVAP system next to the gas tank.
Use the most premium petrol possible.

the yt algorithm just showed me this so had a watch. i bought a 2016 FL 4 months ago and waited out for 3 months to find a well maintained one with low millage. finally got one with 52,000 and had it's gearbox serviced twice by the previous owner. did all the checks you mention apart from interior and that crank sensor. that's an interesting one that i will now know if my car isnt as responsive in the future. i had it tuned recently to 420bhp and 428ftlbs. makes it pull much much better at low revs compared to stock. i wouldn't want anymore power than that though as youre pushing your luck a bit as like you say, gearbox and turbo problems are common on these.

I got a fantastic example of the facelift A45 in March this year. 2017 model with only 24000 miles on it. Front end has some stone chips (down to the metal) so I’m going to get that sorted. Beautiful car. More than enough power. Nice shifts and a firm but good enough ride. Interior is a excellent and of course, it’s not 2023, but lovely interior. Still a head turner.

BRILLIANT car if you get a good straight well maintained one. Ultra reliable and so exciting to drive, BUT you are so right to show how to diagnose a gearbox problem as there are now too many low priced vehicles out there that the crafty buyers want to take the money and run for as they know the cars gearbox is on the way out, and they simply can't afford (or want to pass on) the gargantuan repair bill. There is nothing worse than being so excited about buying what is such a magnificent car only to find out your hard earned money has been wasted on a crippling money pit. Soul destroying.

Awesome video to all viewers who watched his video he did not mention servicing the gear box I have a cla180 sport amg line auto 7speed . I serviced the gear box at 60,000 miles. And the fluid was dirty 😳 so far the car has not had any gear changing issues So please if your buying this car or a cla 45 saloon version from any dealership please ask them if they serviced the gearbox. Most dealerships sell the car at 70 to 80000 miles without gear box fluid and filer change plus differential oil change. They said to me when I wanted to buy one they told me the transmission is lifetime.... I said nothing is lifetime. Half of them lie. So any guys please be careful only buy if the fluid has been changed!

My 2018 model had less then 26000km l noticed my transmission heating over 114c l set it in park an temp dropped l took it to my MB dealership that service it they found the cooling line going from the transmission was blocked up by some sort of black material they spotted it floating in the radiator, they replaced the lines an flushed it all out. Very very strange this could be a big problem to someone who doesn't know too much about temp levels l caught it before it managed to do any harm before warning lights.
High temps weaken seals remember that. Other then that issue car has been a dream to drive.
edit - my normal temps sit around 98 an under sometimes 101c max in summer (Australia). Take the car for a long drive bring temp levels up around there keep an eye on them before you purchase otherwise be ready to fork out a few thousand.

Great cars. They checked all the boxes on my wish list:
    - Hatchback
    - Sits 5
    - High output hp engine (375hp...350ft/lbs cherry on top)
    - Easy on gas mileage if needed (I've seen 38mpg on long easy level terrain trips)
    - Turbo (I'm at 7,000ft in elevation; definitely not N/A friendly)
    - DCT: best transmission in the market if you don't mind the clunkyness that comes with it (GTRs being the worst!)
    - AWD: I'm in inclement weather w/out warning country
    - Easy to maintain ( I do most of the work myself )
    - Easy on the pocket, which allowed me to get HIS & HERS :D
Best years IMO are from 2016-2019; great hp, low weight, and still looks mean. As opposed to the new 400lbs overweight/egg-like-shape '20+ models.
This is the car Subaru STI should have evolved to. But because Subaru is catering to the Green Peace crowd, they never developed the STI to be better since 2004; Booo!!! Subaru, Booo!!!
I enjoy this car so much, that I'm selling my M4 Comp. xDrive that's become a 'garage queen' :(

Performance wise, the M4 Competition xDrive will out perform the GT-R out of the box (mine had a RaceChip). It has luxury, great trany, 8 gears, and a launch that can realign your back like a chiropractor :D
However, it was not practical for where I live. The road conditions and weather made it a nightmare to daily drive. Its acceleration prowess, demanded 100% of your attention; avoiding hazards on the road and speeding tickets. At $105K OTD, it quickly became a Garage Queen, because I did not wanted it to get damaged by potholes, construction debris, hail, damaging winds, etc. Car was paid off, but I was paying $400/mo in insurance for having it sit in the Garage with an occasional drive here and there.
The GLA45, on the other hand, I paid only $45k. with 9k miles. Cheaper insurance, easier to drive (it won't do 0-60 in

    • @ScottishCarClan

I wouldn't worry. If it doesn't do it with 2 passengers it's very unlikely to be a fault.
More likely is the added weight of 4 passengers causing an inertial jerk during the momentary lapse in power whilst switching from clutch to clutch.

hee hee hee. I love getting to be cool grandma, like a couple years ago. My grand daughter, when just turned 17, was wanting her first car real bad. Her mom, (my daughter) was saying no to just about everything.
One day I showed up with one of these. (My daughter standing there with crossed arms, looking like she had just sucked on a lemon. Son in law, with a secret little smile.) My grand daughter, (who is a great kid, straight A student, and adorable kid, going "OMG! O_O". BUT, I also arranged for her to take race driving classes and defensive driving. Honestly, I didn't KNOW what these cars were. I was wanting to get her something good quality, a four seater hatch so she would have room for her friends, still small enough to find parking on campus. I saw one of these for sale, 2013 model, 69k miles, but only asking 20k for it. It looked great, it was a no brainer. Mercedes are very safe cars. While driving it to their house I was saying to myself, "Got dayum, this thing is peppy as f#@k!". Got to their driveway, and got the manual out where it said 360 HP (!).
Needless to say we detuned it down to about 270, she can handle that. She loves it so much. It looks just like the one here in this video, except the spoiler is a tiny bit different. We dealt with the turbo issue immediately, put some good fog lights on it, it's her little "rally car" lol. Me and her dad started an auto garage just down the road form their house years ago, that's how my daughter and son-in-law met, when I went by there to buy a Celica from him years ago, and brought my daughter along to drive my other car back for me, they got chatting and now, years later, got an awesome son in law and 3 grandkids!
Next up, middle grandkid is talking about what he wants lol. My daughter is like "If you show up with a Ferrari, I'll never speak to you again." lol. nah, he's saying he wants some kind of truck actually. Anyways... these are really great cars. Shame you can't find them in the US.
