It feels great that IndyCar uploaded this race since Scott Dixon was the first driver to lead wire-to-wire in an oval IndyCar race since Bobby Rahal did so at Phoenix in 1992. Ryan Hunter-Reay did it again in the 2004 Champ Car race at the Milwaukee Mile.
@@dougknopp9135 tbh Richmond not being on the schedule really pissed me off. I was like, "What!? They don't even get to try again!?" The spring NASCAR race was also canceled
@@johnvandeventer8668 the Richmond race was the only closest oval to me I could attend since they took Pocono away. East coast getting shafted by the IndyCar schedule again...
Nascar says NO! For that reason IndyCar is not coming to that track, they have a contract who expires in 2022 but they don't do that, and seems that neither in the near future will back. This is what happens when one series monopolizes almost all the tracks in the US.
Oval racing in the US is starting to die, IMO. Even NASCAR is adding more road courses to its schedule. If that doesnt prove my point, nothing will lol.
Robin Miller will agree with your comment. And for that reason, they will shut down Chicagoland and Iowa, it seems that they will not return to Kentucky in the near future, and the auto club Speedway will be now a 0.5 mile oval because their races sucks! in that track, they are making that change to avoid a future shutdown in that place, instead to go to Toyota Speedway a 0.5 mile oval, near of Fontana.
That's the problem with having an aging fanbase. Suddenly anything colder than 80 and anything warmer than 81 is "too uncomfortable to go to the races" Plus everyone just got cheap and lazy in general when it came to going to the oval tracks. Sad but true.
The NASCAR road courses have not gotten the viewership numbers that the ovals have, so I'd say that's an exaggeration. The ovals typically average 3-3.4 million viewers, sometimes even 4 million. But watkins glen and Sonoma this year have only been 2 million.

Thanks Indycar for the upload.
IndyCar should go back to short tracks
Maybe using a slightly-modified version of the Indy500 cars
Those were the days!
IRL on short ovals was fantastic racing.
AND I WAS THERE!!
FFS was that really twenty years ago?😮
I have gotten old😢
...But I have turned into my father!😊
Good audio.
So many fans😲😲
How come Richmond is not on the 2021 schedule?
From what I understand, NASCAR had a say in that
