I hope that these kinds of videos that people have had for years keep coming out on youtube. I love seeing old Pantera videos of them backstage and shit.
Its amazing what PanterA became. In this video, im sure they had no idea how huge they where gonna become & how many lives they would mold through music.
I fell in love with Pantera’s music many years ago and just recently been researching on the band in interviews behind the scenes etc.. it’ll always be about the music but I have to say Phil was absolutely gorgeous. I had no idea things used to be this way and he seems to be having one jolly heck of a time. This is the best I’ve seen him! I would’ve went out of my way to meet him. Too bad I was too young to live these golden days! Anyway, this is uber nice to see ❤️
What a fucking great night, that was me in the little half ass shirt, at the time i played in Downtown Bruno. Phil and i grew up together in Metairie and we were catching up on old times. What a killer video to see after all these years, Backstage was a raging good time then.
@@jaycole9584 your logic is flawed. You just ruined your own line of thinking by adding an insult that would require you to know me by your logic. Which means you can't even abide by your own standards, thus rendering your argument invalid.
@GroovyBoi I would consider screaming "white power" while doing the nazi Salute to be a racist position. Or technically, ethnist, since we are all of the same race (human). If it was a juvenile 20 year old Phil backstage drunk and giggling doing jumping Jacks, then discounts and does it real quick, I may be able to consider dismissing that as a young dipshit doing dipshit things, and then see he as grown out of it. But that is not the case unfortunately.
Damn...I got to see Pantera and Kings X alot back in the day...but never on the same bill. That's two of the greatest live bands that ever were right there!
Excellent video. I was just about to open my own rock club on the other side of town called Headbangers Ballroom a couple months later. There are a lot of familiar faces in this video. These were definitely the good old days. I have played on that stage countless times with several different bands. Brooke was the best soundman around. Nathan was a cool club owner too. Wish I had a time machine! 🤟
This is really cool footage. I'm totally digging Doug's hair too. If I was him, I'd still be rocking it. Though, I could never pull it off. But on him, it is totally kick ass. Though, the relaxing/perm would be a bitch to keep up with all of the time. He stopped the perms around the Dogman era and that look was rocking as well. King's X are one of the best bands of all time. They are one of the only bands that you can't say anything negative about. Not only their musicianship..but the quality of their songs and albums. Absolutely amazing and under appreciated.
The first time I saw Pantera was at Joes Garage in W.S., Disciple was the opener. It was also the first time I heard the word "moshpit". That was a night that changed everything!
Hahaha is that Michael Jackson playing in the background??!! That's hilarious, I never thought I'd hear the King of Pop music in anything associated with the kings of 90's metal \m/
I got to see Pantera twice, but that would have been great to see them with Kings X. Cool that Rex and dUg were tape trading, (curious what was on the tape)
This was the vibe back in the day for all invested in rock music. For casual fans, die hards, crazy characters and the artists those who loved it. Loved the life. I lived it. Been to download festivals. Seen over 150 bands in my life. Face to face real experiences. FACEBOOK ruined it all......
Met Doug at (West Fest) Westheimer Arts Festival. . You got anything on Dead Horse, Bone Circus (Arlington), Faucets (Austin), the Hates, ? ? Thanks for these uploads.
OMG, this just became my favorite goddamn video on RUclips! Two of my favorite bands... Pantera and King's X in the same room... WTF? How did that even happen? When? Why the fuck wasn't I there!?
I remember back then when they are at disc jockey studio and he says there's more dudes here it looks like chicks and I've ever seen in my life.. if I had a nickel for everytime I had to say that
Man, if only some people here calling phil racist would take our current political figures just half seriously as they do a washed up old metal singer, we'd be in a better place. Doesn't matter to me who you are, what you look like or believe in. Nor do pointless hand gestures and symbols that hold absolutely no concrete value at all and are only as significant as you allow them to be in your heads. Before ww2 the swastika was a native American symbol for peace and wellbeing...again, preassigned thoughts that hold no value and are only as significant as you make them out to be. If you want to waist your time on earth hating others, go for it, so long as you're not harming anyone. I don't particularly care for racists at all, I dont give them much thought because they arent even worth it. I do wish people would take our current political climate as serious as some metal singer though. People are all mixed up in the head.
jamil quinto, Yeah, that's how it was at "Tec World" in Louisville backstage in 91!! No chicks, and I was scared to be around Phil and Dime. Phil was begging me to come back there, and I wouldn't. I was still a virgin. Lofl 😦😦😦 They were crazy and wild! Lol Nothing like I had ever seen in my life at the age of 16. GOOD GAWD, I'm about to turn 44, the 1st of January! That's half my life away, and I still love Phil as much, if not more, .... Well I'm most definate that I am in love 💫💖💫💖💫💖💫 with him more now than then.
