Lubricating new Flex Shaft 102 cable and installing chain knocker. 20

Just curious... do you have to lubricate the actual flexshaft besides the sheathing?
How do you get lubricant inside the red sleeve?

I hope not because we havent. I thought about it but didnt want to take it all the way off of the cable. Never had a problem with friction in there.
