    What makes Audrey a cut above and an exceptional Fashionista is precisely what she said in this video: ‘learning to dress in harmony with what makes us unique'....Audrey shares her personal experience in ways that allows each of us to draw wisdom and inspiration from her yet develop our own style and pick and choose for ourselves not like mainstream 'sheeple' ...Audrey is not pushing anything; any item, silhouette or color....true guidance and insight.....a most extraordinary Fashionista and Influencer.....truly a cut above....

    I agree with you about getting dressed everyday, even if it is a just a nice top and joggers. I do this everyday including putting on make up. It makes me feel more like myself, and more productive. I always dress on Sundays even though I am not going to church or visit friends or/and relatives. I just don't want to get into bad habits during the pandemic. The only time I wear full on sweats pants and tops are when I am washing floors and bathrooms, polishing silverware or making tomato sauce (after those tasks, I take a shower and get dressed again). I also started out my life wearing black, navy, burgundy, and neutrals like you, but little by little as I moved into middle age I started adding colors like forest green and pastel blues, greens and pinks. I think the tendency toward more feminine styles is just in the air right now with romantic ruffles and sweetheart necklines. I have found myself, this past year or so, purchasing more dresses and flouncy romantic skirts. I also think that by moving to South Carolina this has influenced your style. I use to do a lot of business travel and my dark suits weren't acceptable in the South. The longer I worked and traveled in the South, the more I shopped for lighter colored clothing and dresses. However, I found that when I brought these items and colors back to Boston, they just wouldn't fly in the office, so I only wore them when traveling to the South or on vacation. Thank you, Audrey.

    I’ve always worn dresses just like my mother did. Someone told me one time that they didn’t want someone to be able to measure the circumference of their thighs. LOL! So true! Dresses cover up, especially if you’re not thin. Always love feeling feminine slightly a notch up, and especially since it seems society is getting more and more casual in their dress.

    Realizing that my hair is a key accessory that can change my outfit was a game changer for me this last year.

I only wear low chunky ish heels if I have to wear something dressy. I have always hated heels & pointy toes, so have never worn them. I just love warm stretchy tights from this era! I love the current trends toward crochet and lace, peasant tops in light weight fabrics and closer fitting pants, not exactly leggings but slower fitting. My color is disappearing as my dark blond hair grays, so I mostly like more pastel color pallets. I also have a resolution for 2021 to get dressed every day . Good morning! So, I would really like to hear your comments about how you would appreciate a man to dress. My wife and I live in a rural area where dressing well is not the norm. But I love my fashion, my cologne, being clean shaven, etc. Recently I’ve been seen dressed like a farmhand and I feel I’m being sucked into some lifeless fashion vortex mostly due to pandemic restrictions. Please help 😁

    • @irairod5160
      @irairod5160 3 года назад +22

      Ismael, I think many of us are being sucked in into that slightly-slovenly vortex because we have nowhere to go. Looking like a farmhand is appropriate when you're working on a farm. We need to make a concerted effort to not lose ourselves to the "who cares" forces! I've made a pact with myself that I will wear a good looking outfit, jewelry, makeup, and perfume at least once a week, when I have to run errands. And I wear a button down shirt, a nice sweater, or a bold necklace to take the million videoconference calls I have every week. I appreciate people who dress well, and that includes men. In fact, I think I appreciate a man who cares about such details much more than I notice it on women, maybe because society "expects" women to put a lot of effort on their appearance while giving men more of a pass. So, when a man picks a tie with care, or makes sure his hair and hands look good, or wears cufflinks, or makes sure his shoes are properly buffed, or throws a sports jacket on a jeans and shirt combo...it's like a man who enjoys cooking: major bonus points! So, if you ask me, do go back to dressing well, even if it's a couple of days a week. Make a plan with the wife to get gussied up on a Saturday night to watch an old movie. Even if you're wearing slippers, put on the belt and wear the cologne! And take pictures of yourselves to document your pandemic days. Hopefully this will be over soon, and you'll have those to look back to and remember how we tried to cope with these sad days. We have to find comfort and beauty anywhere we can! (PS--My father's name is Ismael.

      @@kupaadop Thank you very much. This time I need to know specifically what women appreciate. I’ve noticed most of the RUclips channels really ignore a woman’s opinion, a mature woman with class and real style. I can find a million under 30 young ladies that just don’t have enough life experience for me to value or sometimes understand their opinions. I’m just not that interested in someone who is just dressing someone rather showing what women find attractive - women - not the girls at the mall. 😌 There are several prominent women on RUclips that discuss women’s style and fashion, but what are they looking for in men? I find it hard to believe that women like this would ever be seen in public with a man on their arm that really doesn’t compliment their own style and elegance. 🙂👍

    • @kupaadop
      @kupaadop 3 года назад +2

      @@thetomasloretta sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were asking for general inspiration for menswear. My general thought about clothing, style and attraction is that people - no matter which gender or what they exactly wear - look the most attractive when they feel good in the clothes they wear. Maybe this does not seem very helpful but it's real: when you feel good in what you wear others will recognise you. Finding out which clothes you feel good in is a journey which requires a lot of testing out different cuts, colors and sizes. As one of those under 30 girls 😉 I suggest to begin with the very basics: Finding out about the personal body shape, skin under tone an then think about which garments fit your lifestyle (activities, weather, environment and so on). To keep it simple appreciate a well fitting shirt made of high quality cotton combined with midrise straight leg pants (If jeans only slightly washed) and matching leather belt and shoes (without any decoration seams) 😊.

    Hi Audrey, I needed to tell you that I am extremely happy that I found your youtube chanel! Ever since I watch your videos, I have got lots of inspiration from all the good and useful tips you share. You give me the right "tools" and understanding of a correct and smart proces of shopping, without pushing me to buy any particular brand or style, but help me instead, to uncover my own, what works for me. Thank you for making these excellent videos!! And as a bonus, I always feel so relaxed and happy when I hear your voice, and you have a nice aura (if that's the way to say it :D ) Another thing, English is not my nativ language, however, I have learned quite some on my own, but I realise how nice, how enriching is to listen to you and to read your blog! you can really tell when a person reads a lot. So I don't only learn to discover my own style with your help, but I also expand my vocabulary! MIL GRACIAS! :D Warm greetings from a mexican living in Denmark

    I agree about tailoring! It can help anything “off rack”look so much better when the fit is specific to you. After being home-locked for the past year I found myself becoming more and more lax in my style of dress But if I’m not doing it to help myself and those I live with feel inspired, who have I been saving it for? It’s very warm here and I had added many dresses for day wear going out. I’m of a Bohemian, flow-y aesthetic and found that maxi dresses with a bit of jewelry help me feel pretty, comfortable and happy about myself. I’m more motivated to get things done when I dress for the day. 😇

    Hi Audrey, your ‘series’ of your wardrobe analysis is refreshing and practical! I have black hair and darker skin than you do and I wear pastel and cream colours to create that sense of ‘warmth’ during the long winters here in Canada. I am so pleased that I had invested in good quality sweaters including cashmere sweaters from previous years. Similarly my simple gold jewellery brighten up darker tops . All these items cheer me up and others(received compliments) on those never ending zoom meetings ! Stay safe! ❤️🇨🇦🌞

    I am adding dresses now. I feel a strength in the soft feminine lines of a dress that tenderly flows. To me it takes a kind of bravery to embrace a dress that softens the appearance and creates a gentle tender and in a way, vulnerable look with nothing to weigh it down.
    Dresses tend to be more free moving and I think it takes a bit to get used to after wearing pants and shirts our whole life haha at least for me ;)

    This was a meaningful video for me; thank you for creating it. You gave descriptions to what I am trying to do w/my style. "Otherworldly." "Classic and with a twist." I am reminded of Alexander McQueen. A look that is simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar. And interestingly, when I, too, rejected pieces as "not my style/look/aesthetic" I completely missed how adding them actually achieved my goal of otherworldly! Here's to making 2021 a year of fusion!

    Tailored blouses. They are so smart. And versatile. Unbuttoned, wear over a slim t-shirt as a jacket. I have four very good all cotton ones that I paid more than usual for and it was so worth it. They are an essential part of my very minimalist wardrobe based on black jeans and black t-shirts but add color and lightness to the look with shades of light blue also white.

      A pretty outfit idea would be a black turtleneck sweater with a chunky gold or silver necklace and black boots? I would wear with my black Doc Martens, but that's just me. 😇 Could also do a sleek sock bootie. Or, for hotter weather, a cool black graphic t-shirt and some loafers would mix it up for a casual look. ORRR you could do those pants with a denim jacket and sneakers? So many possibilities. 😁
