@fallen2441 Nothing wrong with scooping mids, scooping A LOT can get you drowned out. Finding the perfect balance is the key... to a healthy life on planet Ola-1.
@xhardcorechicx the rectifier 2x12 is a bit bigger than the roadster 2x12 and therefore handles bass better. But the roadster has a bit tighter sound to it which I like.
@TheNafman well I would know since I wrote the song the drums the lyrics etc. And from what I know, I'm actually playing the song in the video... like most of my videos :)
@mulishaboy22 as you probably already been figuring out, I borrow most of the recent amps that I test. Since I started getting attention for my own amps, people wanted me to record their amps. Fine by me :D
@haha10024 gentlemen settle down. It's all about personal preferences. If Fluffypopcicle is happy with a Vypyr and haha100024 with Dual rectifier then what's the problem? We all hear different and have different ear perception. Respect eachother for it.... Then post clips of you having battling it out on RUclips.
@Fluffypopcicle I'm certain you can get a really great sound with pedals. But to own a rectifier and NOT use the distortion is crazy. If he's only using pedals he should get a super clean responsive amp like a Fender Concert or something like that. He would save a lot of cash :)
@H75119847 it has a completly different sound than the rectifier. It's a love/hate thing. But how can you not love it when it costs so much less. But that emsa don't have dynamics is bull. Whoever stated that should be farted in the face.

Get one used. Peavey never actually stopped making these. What happened was, Van Halen left Peavey so they had to stop producing the 5150. But it was a really good seller. So they took his name off and called it the 6505. Some of the earlier 6505's actally were still labled 5150's on the insides. Thy litteraly are the exact same amp but with a different name. Same with the Triple XXX and the 3120 (only difference is that the 3120 has EL34 power tubes).
Becasue the 5150 was basically Eddie Van Halen's signature amp and in 2004 he decided he wanted to cut his ties with Peavey and he took the name "5150" with him. So Peavey changed the name of the amp to 6505 to celebrate their 40th anniversary (1965-2005) so the 5150 became the 6505, but its the same exact amp and the 5150ii became the 6505+.
@TheNafman yeah well it's more like I'M Feared. since I do everything :D hence my youtube username... maybe I should change the description of the vid... brb
the main riff for this piece was made to show the power of the 5150! you are playing the most kickass metal out there man, good work, and I must also say, great taste in amps!
Ola , you are a blessed and infernal guitarist !! what the FUCKING awesome is that?? The crunch, the howl, the PUNCH, i can hear it ALL and STRONG... People like me, who has a FANATIC relationship with their instruments, we got totally TOUCHED for this sound... the pure expression of heavy metal... thanks !!
@fearedse I love the Ibanez you use in this video and most of your other ones, I tryed finding this model a year ago but there was no sign of having it anywhere. So lucky you are to have a discountinued model that alot of others don't have.
@fluff191 rectos do take some time to dial in. they have so many good tones and the ways you can set up the effects chain. love mine to death and always trying to find different ways to set it
@Bempley just start with a riff you like and write riffs to fit with the riff you wrote - key necessarily doesnt matter as long as it flows - leads you gotta worry about key.
Ive seen a few of your vids here on youtube,i have to say your a fantastic song writer and all around musican!.Ive been a semi-pro guitarist for 25 years and you are far and few between WELL DONE! im going to purchace your c.d. for sure
@fallen2441 As he said, nothing wrong with scooping mids for bedroom use, gets a nice heavy boomy tone when you're playing by yourself, but when it comes to LIVE, yeah, crank dem mids.
@cbertram11 Same amp. Allow me to explain :) . When EVH was endorsed be Peavey, they made him the 5150 and 5150II. They sold well. VERY well. So when he left, they decided to keep the amp. But since he took the EVH name with him, they renamed it to the 6505 and 6505+. All they changed was the name. Then they made the 6534+ which is the same as the 5150II/6505+ accept that it has EL34 power tubes in it.
do have a blog or somthing where everybody can read the characteristics of the amps you ve played and what you like or what you dislike etc.? and / or some vids with the pure amp sounds for comprarison? i love it to compare amps n stuff!!!
@fearedse I usually scoop SOME mids when doing OVERALL mastering to clear out that somewhat hollow sound. But as far as my guitar tone my mids are just about all the way up (i use 5150 as well)
I play the 2 speaker combo version of this amp. It's more than loud enough and if you're playing in a club of some sort then it's ideal. I wouldn't use the 120 watt head for small venues.
you do definitely the best sounding amp tests! maybe you could do different metalstyles with each amp in the future. that would be killer. keep it up dude! THANK YOU!
i think i just asked you right away: did you try Engl cabs? do you think they sound pretty good with those heads or a rack, or should i really save money for a mesa cab (which costs me double as much).
ive compared my friends old 5150 block letter to a 6505 and there a verry noticeable difference, its hard to describe, the 5150 is ALOT looser sounding, or maybe more compressed and saturated, and the knobs all respond differently
Yeah dude, Eddie took the 5150 name/trademark with him when he parted ways with peavey. The 6065 is the exact amp. You probably wont find one brand new but there are plenty of 5150's out there.
@fluff191 a good set of jj's help a lot too. i've had a few different amps and have played some higher end amps. this guy here shows everyone that in the right hands any amp can sound good. i'd like him to find an old crate gx600 or something and do a vid.
Most of these videos he does have no post processing EQ on them, it's just two tracks panned left and right. Go listen to the album version if this song and it doesn't really sound quite the same. It's just the mid-scooped sound he uses for the heavy sound that makes it difficult to discern differences, but you can hear them.. mainly it's a limitation of human ears. Hard to notice details in low low bass and high treble, which is this entire genre of tone.
@fearedse Try looking for somebody who owns a Jet City JCA100h (100h not the 20h). That amp is a copy of the Soldano Hot Rod 100+, which has an almost identical lead circuit to the SLO-100. It would be awesome if you could make a metal recording of Jet City (I own one myself, but you somehow have the ability to make amps sound twice as cool with your recording/mixing abilities). It sounds similar to the 5150 but with much more clarity and less fizz.
wow! you guys do write all your stuff yourselves, right? it's a shame I haven't heard of Feared before. _everything_ I've heard so far is really solid and some of the riffs are totally immense.
@fallen2441 Nothing wrong with scooping mids, scooping A LOT can get you drowned out. Finding the perfect balance is the key... to a healthy life on planet Ola-1.
i remember when i first watch this vid 9 yrs ago. you've come a long way ola. cheers!
@PsnIDShMuK A mix between the two is the best option. You like Nevermore? Go for dual rectifier. You like Machine Head? Go for the 5150.
@Shyuum Yeah I used to own a XXX and it was a pretty good amp. You will probably be very pleased getting one.
@173guitarman good call!
i remember when i first heard this song about 4 years ago... still gives me the bumps... gotta say the opening riff is BOSS !!!!!!!
@xhardcorechicx the rectifier 2x12 is a bit bigger than the roadster 2x12 and therefore handles bass better. But the roadster has a bit tighter sound to it which I like.
@TheCelticknights thanks man for taking time giving me that comment. totally made my day!
@pukepal But they aren't discontinued. MTM2 is still available I think.
@wxp24 This guitar has Ibanez Z8 pickups in it
@gibsonmatte I just the crank the pre gain a bit for the solo.
@Xevidan No just the 57
@garfish111 haven't tried the new fireball 100w. But I bet it's an awesome amp. Love Engl.
@metalmaniac426 sure if one comes my way I would definitely try one.
@bedofrazorsqwerty cheers!
@Zhalium Dessvärre inte mer än att det finns på Itunes och Amazon. Tack!
@megano92 you can't buy a hard copy of it!
@WidekMusic thanks Widek :D
@J1MNERD Tack! Superior 2.0
@Allthatwasleft98 First stack? You mean as a first amp if you're new to gear. Yeah sure consider that it's pretty affordable.
Fine by me :D
definitely one of the best amps ever...dark tone mixed with an amazing open sound..love it.
@uncharted97 to bad I don't own it then ;) cheers
@axis666ful that would be sweet! Don't know anyone with one though,
@haha10024 gentlemen settle down. It's all about personal preferences. If Fluffypopcicle is happy with a Vypyr and haha100024 with Dual rectifier then what's the problem? @VladTheImpaler123 thanks man, but I'm just a bit too novice at mixing real stuff. I might be the one setting the guitar sound though.
@durarail I haven't tried one so I don't know. Would like to though!
@H75119847 it has a completly different sound than the rectifier. It's a love/hate thing. But how can you not love it when it costs so much less.
But that emsa don't have dynamics is bull. Whoever stated that should be farted in the face.
@Lickmaster123 no it's closed?

@dreadbet yeah I know, I just pretend that I play in Feared and Scarpoint ;)
@fallen2441 the mids on a 5150 is where the growl lies...\m/
@BartlesvilleGuy28 Then there is something wrong with your friend or his amp.
@pungfageln De senaste 3 är lånade :)
Very good song and great use of the 5150- used to have 2 of the "block letter" 5150s. Very durable, and a nice mix of Marshall/Mesa
Always great tones mate. Congrats!
Becasue the 5150 was basically Eddie Van Halen's signature amp and in 2004 he decided he wanted to cut his ties with Peavey and he took the name "5150" with him. Those Peavey heads the 5150 and 6505 give such a bad ass metal tone.
All of your videos, especially the playthroughs, have helped me a lot in my first tube amp purchase of a 6505
Thank you :-)
@TheNafman yeah well it's more like I'M Feared. since I do everything :D hence my youtube username... maybe I should change the description of the vid... brb

@173guitarman I agree with you, There are so many little factors that contribute to how your equipment sounds and what sounds good to you.
Hearing that kind of tone from a 5150 reminds me of how In Flames produced Soundtrack... Awesome.
The bass on this video is lovely.
Wow this is my fave metal sound.
@Fluffypopcicle then I have to congratulate him! :)
Ola , you are a blessed and infernal guitarist !! what the FUCKING awesome is that?? The crunch, the howl, the PUNCH, i can hear it ALL and STRONG... People like me, who has a FANATIC relationship with their instruments, we got totally TOUCHED for this sound... the pure expression of heavy metal... thanks !!
@patsosas I think he meant an apogee counterpart for pc, the apogee's portability/sound quality/built in mic/simplicity
@fearedse I love the Ibanez you use in this video and most of your other ones, I tryed finding this model a year ago but there was no sign of having it anywhere. So lucky you are to have a discountinued model that alot of others don't have.
This may be my favorite sounding amp.
@SchecterMusic No effects
@frets70 Roadster only got V30s, it's the Roadking that has the C90 speaker aswell.
@sx1ding 12-60!
@fluff191 rectos do take some time to dial in. they have so many good tones and the ways you can set up the effects chain. love mine to death and always trying to find different ways to set it

Maaaaannnn you're are riff killer machine, you always were!
@DremDC Nah I'm a rectifier guy.
@AboveDelusion nah that's the only thing I can't do. :)
just purchased this album on iTunes.first album i ever bought that way:) thanx for great job you do..
One if the best amps ever made...
Great song!
Getting a 6505 soon!
@DigitalVirus im pretty sure theyre micks signature blackouts now, but this one probably had the standard blackouts in it
Ive seen a few of your vids here on youtube,i have to say your a fantastic song writer and all around musican!.Ive been a semi-pro guitarist for 25 years and you are far and few between WELL DONE! im going to purchace your c.d. for sure

I love the bridge in this song, sounds pretty bad-ass.
@tbirdpunk hmmm... maybe! rather have a string-changer. A guy or gal changing strings on my guitars everyday.
do have a blog or somthing where everybody can read the characteristics of the amps you ve played and what you like or what you dislike etc.?
and / or some vids with the pure amp sounds for comprarison?
i love it to compare amps n stuff!!!
@fearedse oops my mistake i sometimes get confused with your MTM2 and the Ibanez RgR08, I meant the RGR08. Keep it Heavy Ola. \w/
@fearedse I usually scoop SOME mids when doing OVERALL mastering to clear out that somewhat hollow sound. But as far as my guitar tone my mids are just about all the way up (i use 5150 as well)

@mikemccord3 The only one he owns now is his axe-fx rig.
you do definitely the best sounding amp tests! maybe you could do different metalstyles with each amp in the future. that would be killer. keep it up dude! THANK YOU!
Awesome job, you are the best amp tester on youtube! :)
Awesome soooong, man! Gotta check out more of this stuff.
i think i just asked you right away: did you try Engl cabs? do you think they sound pretty good with those heads or a rack, or should i really save money for a mesa cab (which costs me double as much).
great sounds :) I've got a 5150 myself.. have you messed with the tube combinations or not at all?
excellent sound, can you please do a demo on the Laney VH100R?
ive compared my friends old 5150 block letter to a 6505 and there a verry noticeable difference, its hard to describe, the 5150 is ALOT looser sounding, or maybe more compressed and saturated, and the knobs all respond differently

Bought the album! Fierce as shit to listen to.
Y'all are easily one of my favorite metal bands.
You are AMAZING at getting great tone.
nice camera and recording equipment
@fluff191 a good set of jj's help a lot too. i've had a few different amps and have played some higher end amps. this guy here shows everyone that in the right hands any amp can sound good. i'd like him to find an old crate gx600 or something and do a vid.
Great song
@LWRCftw this amp was designed by Van Halen of course its awesome
@AnthonyESP94 check my blog... donate.

@callyatheoriginal I believe that's actually a Lonestar 1x12....
hey bro i love your style and tone. i also have a 5150 and its amazing. could u maybe put up a playthrough of some tones you get?
Awesome song!!
@fearedse Try looking for somebody who owns a Jet City JCA100h (100h not the 20h). That amp is a copy of the Soldano Hot Rod 100+, which has an almost identical lead circuit to the SLO-100. I wonder how good you can make a valveking sound you should deff do one.
@fearedse your 100% correct!
Wow, as much as I love the sag of the Dual Rect, the 5150 is a whole nother beast! sounds amazing like always!
wow! you guys do write all your stuff yourselves, right? it's a shame I haven't heard of Feared before.
_everything_ I've heard so far is really solid and some of the riffs are totally immense.
superior drummer
Please show a video of how you record your guitars!!!!
