GREAT comparison .I went with the 2021 Dark Stealth Ducati. Akra system , MAP and low restriction air filter installed prior too taking delivery, so I can't compare to stock. I'll tell you this, after 3,000 miles, wheelies NO problem. A little intimidating shifting @ 130 pulling the front wheel !. 7,000 miles since end of January, my basic transportation and loving it. You did not mention the rear cylinders deactivates, when hot, at an idle and counter rotating crankshaft. The single sided swing arm, very distinctive I personally like the engine breaking, BUT like you stated does get a little choppy at times. The flat black and no engine cc's displayed and quiet idle, the bike is a factory sleeper. 80-90 miles on a tank of fuel,, oh well. You want too play, you got to pay. Will dyno the S.F. shortly. expect about 205 at the rear wheel. Launch control is WILD ! Hang on for dear life above 150, the wind wants too ripe you off the bike. Prefer my 2017 Panigale 1299S at high speeds. OH I'm 72+ and still at it.. Be safe guys.

Legend. The only thing stopping me from swapping my tracer 900 GT for an MT10 was the fuel range. The aprillia is a bit better. Still a beginner rider so I'll keep to the tracer for a while but want to test ride and get the 21 aprillia before long, but not the factory version, i think the standard version in glacier white looks better and is bigger which I need because I'm 6 ft

Came across this fantastic comparison a little late..
I owned a MT10 SP and always got in my mind to try those two bikes. I had luck to find both (SF V4S and Tuono Factory) to my friend's showroom.
Starting by saying that those are two incredibly fast and high-level bikes, I felt the SF's throttle a little bit too much filtered by the eletronics. Generally speaking I think all the bike is a little bit too filtered. The riding position was really nice and the general feelings of the Ducati were amazing. I was almost pulling the trigger on it
After the Ducati I tried the Tuono andOMG I'm so glad I've done it. the Tuono felt more a "racing bike" than the SF, the connection between my wirst and the rear tyre is much more sincere and the bike feels like a razor. The power difference is not so noticable on roads and you can feel the Tuono standing up a little in the low-mid rpms comparing to the SF.
Ended up by trading my MT10SP for the 2022 Tuono Factory. My friend gave me a nice deal with a fantastic discount on some RSV4's forged wheels.
It's a plug and play mod that makes the Tuono even more agile by saving almost 5lbs comparing to the stock wheels. Done a 520 conversion and also switched the (already very good) master cylinder for a Brembo RCS19 Corsa Corta and with a Gabro's Race tune the Tuono is the real perfect machine.
Couldnt be happier with my choice
    Cheers from Italy

    • @paul_7612
      @paul_7612 10 месяцев назад +2

@@FadilKarim Tuono isn't a friendly bike. It requires some skills to well ride it. It is more a "physical" bike than the MT. The MT can be ride like a supermoto due to his riding position where u have ur seat low and an high handlebar. The Tuono is directly a sister of the RSV4 so you will need more weight transfer (with all body) riding style. My 18 MT10 was more nimble to ride. the Tuono feels way more stable. The fact that MT keep on getting his front wheel up is for sure fun but being able to feel every little crack under your front tyre in your handlebar is what makes the Tuono known as the best naked out there. Throttle on Aprilia's AEM level on 2 feels like Yamaha's level 1. So, yes, the throttle will be more sensible but i wouldn't say "aggressive". If you put AEM level on 1 it will be (IMHO) too much direct for street use.
Generally speaking i overall prefer the Tuono over the M10SP, better brakes, better frame, better electronics, better look (that's personal).

Nice review guys. If I had to make another comment it would be that when you get to the "which bike would I take.." part at the end, shouldn't you make that decision based on the standard spec you just rode rather than chose one because you could then spend 6 grand adding a full Akra system and remap? That's all. Very enjoyable to watch guys.

    This was a great review!
The Ducati is the logical choice and the Aprilia is the passionate one.
I went to the dealer to buy a Streetfighter and I rode a new Tuono home. For me, there's something very special about the Tuono's engine and the way it makes you feel when you ride it. I just love how rowdy and playful it is. I ride bikes because they are fun and the ones that make me smile the most get the nod. I'm sure I would have also have been very happy with the Streetfighter. It is an incredible, very fast machine. We are fortunate to live in an amazing time when you can go to the store and buy something as truly fantastic as these two bikes are right out of the box.

This is the 2nd time; your video of the 2019 V4 Tuono mentioning the price at the end had me scrambling for the phone to call Wheels Motorcycles; so one viewer x 2 Tuono sales at Wheels (Thanks Joe) in 2 years!! Very watchable and enjoyable video Mr. Chops, has it all - incisive detail, change of opinion, knit-picking detail and erudition. I think Greg’s addition really adds a nice counter-balance and on test reality. I think it boils down to this: the SF is the choice, perhaps, for more Kudos, better build, dealers and resale but fewer miles. The Tuono for better value, a better all round motorbike, feel and involvement. Both incredible Italian stallions. Tuono please.

the Tuono is missing the forged wheels, brakes are not at the level of the Ducati.
if you calculate in the loss in value over time, Aprilia looses value much more.
In the long run, the SF V4S is the better buy.
This is the opion of a long years Tuono Factory fan boy, having much experience with it.
And I personally say No to the 2021 Tuono design/colour scheme.

Great review Chopsy, I had a Panigale V4R (before massive clutch/transmission issues) and riding it around Florida in the summer was _brutal_ . It was like strapping a piece of Alcantara to a volcano. Even in leathers, in the summer heat, it's shocking. And I test rode the Streetright, and found the same thing. At first, it feels like heaven, about half an hour in, I was like "why is this so uncomfortable?" And it is very sterile to ride. Aprilia for me (and maybe literally).

I could listen to the sound of these two bikes going up the road all day long. It’s the Tuono for me. I think it’s the best looking bike in years. If I was 13 it would be on a poster in my bedroom. Instead it’s on a poster in my garage.

Gr8 review as always Chopsy...love the sound of the V4s..Aprilia seem to have the best sound even between the superbikes...m8..on the video at 26.00 minutes..is there a crack on the engine bolts where the two tighten together..just near the wiring.or is it flaky paint......
    Cheers m8...keep em coming..

Great review as usual ,I have tried most /owned most of the super naked over the last fifteen years ,I am on my sixth Tuono with out doubt the best one yet ,always the realiabitie is raised never had a problem and the 2021 model can be had for £3500 cheaper than the Ducati don't delay that difference buys an Akra and an awfully lot of bling.

I owned the 2017 Tuono & recently changed to the 2021 Tuono, the suspension is far superior on the 21, but because I had a can & remap on the 17 the fuelling felt better, I swapped the can & link pipe from the 17 onto the 21 & it made a massive difference, The surging feel the exhaust flap opening & closing has gone, the 21 is now perfect & better than the 17 mainly due to the suspension/handling.

Just watching your channel for the first time & I'll say as a former Ducati (5) & currently Aprilia owner & I'd take Tuono any day over the SFV4, grant them that they are sexy as hell but Aprilia I've found their quality to be superior to Ducati. I love the attention to detail but the quality is questionable over time. My Aprilia is a beast amd and haven't had any issues so far, may not be the eye looker as a Duc (subjective) but they've grown on me over the years

Hey guys don't forget the counter rotating crankshaft and longish wheel base both contribute to the anti-wheelie nature of the SF. Good watch though guys.

  • @donaldmaddox4531
    @donaldmaddox4531 3 года назад

I have not owned the Tuono. However, I have owned the SFV4S as well as the Super Duke Gen 2 and Monster 1200S.
If I'm completely honest, I really didn't love the SF in stock form. Like you said, it feels unengaging at lower RPMs and it is quite tiring to ride. The lack of cruise control just exacerbates the situation because there's no way to give your hand a break, and you really need it on this bike. It drinks fuel like no other bike I've ever come across, and it does get hot.
Having said all that, I did all the mods you're talking about to the SF. I did the full Akra exhaust, fuel map, BST wheels, heated grips, and dry clutch kit. With these mods, the whole character of the bike is changed and it becomes much more aggressive, and just overall a meaner, more engaging machine. The sound is epic, the throttle response becomes more immediate, and the dry clutch gives it a more raw feel. To be sure, those are expensive upgrades. But they're mostly worth it.
On the negative side, those mods don't do anything to fix the heat, it's perhaps even more tiring to ride, and it still drinks fuel like an M1 Abrams.
So the big question is, how does a heavily modded SFV4 compare to a heavily modded Monster 1200S or Super Duke? That's actually a difficult question to answer. Fully modded, the SFV4 is very, very good and by far the sexiest naked bike on the market. But the counter-rotating crank and electronics make it feel like a ballistic missile rather than a hooligan machine like the other two. With fuel map and full exhaust, the 1200S and 1290R want to wheelie constantly and feel faster on the street, even though they're way down on power. The SF does feel considerably more premium, though.
I've said before, the perfect naked would have been the new SF design but with the 1299 engine. That would have been utterly ridiculous and sounded like Godzilla.

Excellent review. I have owned a 2019 Tuono V4 Factory (only kept it 8 months) and ridden the Streetfighter. Further proof that it's horses for courses, totally amazing bikes that are completely lost on me, I ride everyday all year round and find both of these lack what you need and have a surfeit of what you don't. Totally impractical in terms of storage, horrible in traffic (hot, snatchy and unwieldy), don't really start to work until jail speed, uncomfortable after a very short time in the saddle, useless range, appalling fuel consumption, loads of electronics you don't use. And most importantly for me I get off every time with a hollow feeling that I haven't and never will come close to using anything like it's capability. Most of us can't afford to buy and run a 20 grand toy.. and that's what it is. Yet more examples of utterly brilliant, utterly pointless "arms race" bikes borne out by the numbers they actually sell. Me... well I've accepted my limitations and have a super rewarding huge fun time on my Street Triple RS and Ducati Supersport S, 95% of the time they are 95% better than the megabikes...
