    32:01 - To be fair, there's not a movie Michael Madsen will say "no" to. The sad fact is, he's been in dozens of movies even worse than this.

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  3 месяца назад

      I genuinely hadn't even considered that when I put that in. I know Christopher Lloyd has a similar policy but I feel like he just goes into every performance with such passion that it never reflected in his career. Lloyd never does anything by halves but Madsen just comes off as phoning it in, at least for Bloodrayne.

    It's good that you had the strength to get yourself to review this abomination and desecration of a very cool and beloved character and her story. No, to watch it AND then review it. I couldn't have done it 🤣. There are so many things that are so painfully wrong with this movie. A movie that utterly torn apart one of the coolest and beloved video games characters and her story. Starting with her living in medieval times when in the game she was born in 1915 and continuing with her being weak enough to be handled by regular humans (should we assume they took that from BloodRayne 2? LOL) and with giving her the most horrible "British" accent (however that's still nothing compared with Michelle Rodriguez's fake British accent lol) and STILL continuing with making Ben Kingsley Kagan, and then if you thought they couldn't go any further they kept going with the most atrocious "fight scenes" you could ever see... But in all this mayhem and torture there was one element that was good, one that I would have never thought of if I had ever made a movie about her. That is making her regenerate her wounds as she was drinking blood. That was actually a good idea to put in the movie. However everything else about it was so atrocious that Uwe Boll should go to prison for it... 😂😂

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад +1

      You know what you're absolutely right, I should of drawn more attention to the regeneration because that was a really nice touch. Good shout out. And yeah everything else was awful haha. The accents, the change in personality, and I didn't even know Rayne was born in 1915 so it's like they didn't even care. They did less character background reading than me. Nice Bloodrayne 2 dig ROFL. I feel they could have gone two routes with Kagan, either true to the video game or full-on classic stereotypical vampire. They did neither, just an honest waste of time.
      If Uwe didn't go to prison over this movie Rayne certainly did, the only people I've seen thrown into prison cells more often are stargate sg-1. And Rayne only escaped one of them, she had to be let out of the others. Awful film.
      But! Thank you! For watching my Bloodrayne videos and leaving kind words here as well. I say it a lot, but I really appreciate it, so thank you! I will get around to BR2 eventually, it's sitting waiting :D

      @@reallylatereviews Great! I'm really looking forward to your BloodRayne 2 review. That is the game that I like to describe as the sequel that utterly failed to be the improvement over the first one that it should've been. It does have a major improvement though over the first one, the checkpoints, which means you're not going to be thrown all the way back to the beginning of the level no matter how much you progressed through the level. The graphics are another improvement but that was just natural. Overall though it miserably failed to be the improvement that it should have been.

    It’s crazy to know this film was supposed to be very different in the first script.

    @SoReyesguy1294 Год назад +1

    First off, loved the review. Fantastic take.
    What’s there to say about this movie that isn’t painfully obvious? It’s a complete shit show and utter disappointment. I went to the theater when this film came out. I played BloodRayne 2 and saw the teaser trailer in it. I was excited if a little confused cuz it looked a bit different from what the game actually was but I was naive. After the movie was over, I was left wondering how it could have been fucked up as much as it was. Not just once, but three times in a row. Not even having the third movie be almost within the same time period as the first game could save it.
    Boll’s portrayal of Rayne is so passive and utterly devoid of defining character traits it’s gut wrenching. I can agree that her moment with the kid was an ok part because I think Rayne herself wouldn’t treat children badly. But other than that; she’s either caged, captured, laying down or trying so hard to seem cool but failing. Her outfit looks like a cheap Halloween costume. There was a promotional trailer where Kristina Loken was dressed up in a much better costume and looked more like Rayne but they didn’t use it. The blades, both sets she gets are so dumb and fake looking, though I could forgive the ones she got from her friend a little bit. But Jesus, the second set weren’t even attached to her arms and didn’t pivot. More than half the cast didn’t give two shits about being there and just did it for the quick money.
    Also, something i didn’t realize back then, this movie doesn’t take place in the medieval period. For a long time I thought that too. But it actually takes place in 18th century Romania.
    And another thing that is really annoying. You don’t just become a vampire by being solely bitten. That’s a werewolf thing. To become a turned vampire, you have to get bitten and swap blood with your vampire master, that’s it. Rayne couldn’t even turn anyone anyways, her human half prevents that (I’m looking at YOU 3rd movie). So way to go Brimstone, you killed those people and desecrated those corpses at the carnival for nothing.

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад

      I didn't even get the time period holy shit. I would never have guessed that since there aren't any flintlocks or firearms - my knowledge of such things is flimsy but they really went out of their way to make it feel medieval.
      Oh the character of Rayne gets slaughtered it's true! And the vampire siring in this made no sense at all, you'd be tripping over them if all it took was one bite. I think we can all agree that the Brimstone society was utterly useless and confused in the film so just killing a load of innocent people makes sense. Glad the 3rd movie kept up the stupid though!
      I actually left in my comment about the second set of blades because at the time I really thought they were attached to her arms. The fights were shot so poorly that most of their elbows get cut out and I was so disinterested in all of that I think I imagined it, so I left it in haha! Just awful.
      Lastly I want to say thank you for watching my video, for leaving kind words and also sharing your own experiences with this movie. It also sounds like you suffered through the whole trilogy already for which I am deeply sorry! But thank you, I really appreciate it!

    Well that was a movie I suppose………
    It’s really shocking just how bad most video game movie adaptations are. I truly don’t understand how hard it is to either play or watch someone play a game. Then incorporate that into a movie especially an action game into an action movie. Like you said no quips or personality you could’ve just had over the top action and one liners and it would’ve been day and night difference. Sheesh what a mess and I appreciate the little dive into the background of the movie near the end with the screen tighter. That just says it all when you swipe the first draft and then wing in just wow. They should’ve added some Cochise to the fight scenes as background music would’ve elevated it 😂
    Anyways mate great video as always and keep up the great work :D

      @reallylatereviews  Год назад +2

      Haha I'd have taken some Cochise music to bump this movie up happily. Yeah they just, I've never seen something underplayed so hard. I wouldn't even call it trying to be edgy, and it's hard to say there is a Vulcan-like quality to the movie because even a Vulcan would emote more. It's rare to watch a movie and miss one liners. Truly a weird film. And like you say there are some great games that could easily work as adaptations, especially action movies. But it felt like this period of time where they picked all the worst possible games to adapt into actual stories. Without giving them actual stories.
      And yeah the script just being rewritten as it's going on. Who'd have thought that years before The Hobbit had storyboards drawn up hours before shooting that Uwe Boll did it first.
