81 ' i was 16 and accused of devil worship cause I listened to sabbath
July 4 1983. Im 13 years old. The day i broke my cherry and had my mind blown after hearing this greatest hits double album for the first time. Ill never forget setting that needle down and hearing the creepy rain, thunder and tolling bell, then bam that intro riff hit me over the head like a sledge hammer. Scared the shit outa me, but I was hooked.Became my soundtrack from 7th grade to graduation. From that day on. my fave band was Sabbath. And all the music that id heard and liked before i heard them, now sounded tame,weak and nowhere near as moving and exciting. Best heavy, hard rock band ever hands down! Also as Joey once said listening to Master of reality and watching the Exorcist at the same time on acid is a really hairy prospect. You took too much, too much, too much!!!Lol.😊

Long live Uncle Joey! Some of my favorite material from Joey over the years has been his knowledge and passion for music. I’m so happy he’s doing these reviews. With non stop Def Leppard jokes it just never gets old 😅

This album was thrown together by their label, authorized by their manager without the bands knowledge and they (the band)didn’t make a dime from it!

This album is my go to if I’m stranded on a desert island.
It’s so good!

It’s Metal
And there’s even a little calypso in there!

Glad someone said it. It was released right around Christmas time after the band had finally broken away from Patrick Meehan Jr. but unfortunately, they lost all the rights to the first 5 albums. This record was thrown together as a fuck you to the band and as a cash grab.

Laying on the cold cement on my grandparents back porch in a sleeping bag in the dark listening to this. That was my intro to Sabbath.
This is the first album I ever bought. It was worth every piece of my soul.

I’m damn near same as Joey. And because of the internet. I have discovered many rare albums that came out of Britain. And other rare prog genres we never knew existed. That are right up there with big name bands. For example a band called “Dust”.

Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die are underrated albums. Especially Technical Ecstasy, I really love that album. Dirty Women, Rock N Roll Doctor and It's Alright (Bill Ward on vocals).
The best music is hidden in plain sight on the albums not on top 40 radio.

As far as compilation albums it's great. My first touch with sabbath. Although in hindsight... symptom of the universe should have been on here for sure.
I just picked up a copy of their Album Headless Cross with Tony Martin on lead vocals, Great album that gets overlooked I would recommend to any big sabbath fan!

Check their early stuff, they were called Earth. Nowhere near Black Sabbath but you can see where they come from(iommi’s jazz background etc)

Uncle Joey has the best taste in music! This is the best sabbath album only because it has so many kickass songs on it. The first 6 sabbath albums are all amazing, but I often have a hard time picking only one album

Black Sabbath is the fucking shit!! My favorite song of all time is Heaven and Hell. The dio years are so fucking killer, but Ozzy brought a creepier vibe to the band. Never got into the albums with the other singers though.
