- Many people feel back tightness in their day-to-day lives. So we've put together a video of our top 5 stretches to help with back pain.
The exercises detailed in this video are not meant to replace treatment plans. Instead, they are general stretches that can are appropriate for most people, and are modified to be appropriate for people with scoliosis, Scheuermann's Kyphosis, or spinal fusion.
Although these aren't necessarily back stretches, we've found that addressing the pelvis and shoulders actually can provide a lot of relief for the trunk (since it's all connected!).

this is really helpful! thanks for making this video!
Awesome! Glad to hear it. Let us know if you have other questions or requests!
Just found your channel. Love it😍
Glad you enjoy it!
This is the most informative exercise for scoliosis I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much! Hope there would be more core exercises as well. This is my target aside from my scoliosis. God bless😍
Hello! Thank you for the encouragement! Yes, have you seen all the scoliosis-friendly core workouts we have?

thanks indeed. simple and effective, it really helped me to relieve the strain I had from (apparently mistakenly) using abs roller as a part of the workout program, currently enrolled in :(
Sorry to hear you strained a muscle! And glad that you felt better after a few of these stretches. You’re right, the ab roller can be really challenging and cause compensation through some of the surrounding back muscles that are trying to support your core.
Thank you, very nice stretches. Can you post some strengthening exercises for convex sides of the curves please.
That one’s a bit more challenging to create because everyone’s curves are different - some left, some right, thoracic, lumbar… some have 2, 3, or even 4 curves. For these specific requests, we would suggest seeking a scoliosis-trained therapist in your area :)
I love you guysss thank you 😭
Thanks! We'd so appreciate if you shared it with your friends!
Vielen Dank sonia berlin
Your video mentioned a link for the hanging bar. I did not see it and would love to buy one.
ooh thanks for pointing that out! Here's the one we love: amzn.to/3BnwGKv
Thanks . No wonder my pain getting worse . I always do the wrong strech
Hope this information helps!
Just discovered your videos a few weeks ago and they are such a blessing. Thank you!! Also I have a question: my mother-in-law keeps telling me I should try the...I'm not sure what to call it...I'll call it "rocking double knee to chest" movement, where you lie on your back, pull your knees tight to your chest and kind of rock back and forth on the floor. Is this movement ok for scoliosis?
Hello! Thanks for subscribing! Hmm for what purpose does she recommend the movement?
@@TSCConnect Just for when I have a sore back which I often do from Scoliosis. Her sister-in-law recommended it for her when her back was sore (but neither of them have Scoliosis).
Hmm rolling on your back may be challenging for people with scoliosis, partially because of the prominence that is the signature presentation of a structural curve (the rounded part of the ribs) and also many people have a flatter back than people with typical spines. Try some of our scoliosis-friendly stretching routines and see if that helps with some of your back soreness :)
where can I find a pull up bar like that? that stretch looks amazing!
Hi Kim! Check out the various options that we use for hanging exercises, and the links to purchase them through our Amazon affiliates page: scoliclinic.ca/products/ -> Hanging Equipment on the 2nd tab
Would you be able to provide the info on the pull-up bar? The link is no longer in the description box. These stretches are very helpful! Thank you! I am finding more help here than I can find locally. Do you think a PT trained through the Postural Restoration Institute is suffficient to help keep scoliosis from progressing? It’s not exactly Schroth training but I am told it s similar. Thank you for these videos sooo helpful!!!
Oh weird! Sorry about that, here it is: amzn.to/42v4nHY
Could you please do a video on exercises to relax the pelvic floor muscles ? I have developed tailbone pain as my tailbone now touches the seat when I sit perhaps due to my curve ? Lumbar Ct scan shows apex of curve at L1 with disc compression at L2 and L3. Thank you .
Hi Charlotte, your situation sounds quite specific, please see a pelvic floor physiotherapist in your area as we can’t give advice over RUclips.
@@TSCConnect Thank you
Do you have a video or resource with tips or exercises/stretches for sore/stiff neck? My neck is often sore and/or stiff, maybe from looking down at my phone or whatever I'm doing. I've been doing the neck circles in the full body warm up video, but it doesn't seem to do the trick for me during those 30 seconds. Would it help to put heat on my neck? Thanks :)
For any specific symptoms like what you've expressed, it can be caused by many things. If general range of motion doesn't help, please see a Physiotherapist near you who can assess your situation and provide treatment.
I have c.curve.sever thoraic curve.and very painful to sleep and sit
So please make a video on this
Thank you 💖
Hi Yusra, if you have a large curve and are experiencing a lot of pain, please see a scoliosis-trained physiotherapist or doctor in your area as we are not able to provide medical advice to address pain through RUclips. If you join our mailing list in the footer of our website (scoliclinic.ca), you will receive a e-book on sleeping tips. Thanks!
oooooooooooo
Hope these exercises are helpful!
