Most likely does. The elephant in the room is legal definition. At root, a few activists are trying to redefine the law to suit their personal… preferences.
The word "gender' has TWO VERY DIFFERENT meanings, that get confused, because often, you can't tell which meaning is being used. (1) The older meaning, "gender" is JUST a synonym for biologicl sex, male and female, maybe with a emphasis on social contexts.. Or the other definition is (2) "gender" is an authoritarian RELIGIOUS belief, that it's somehow possible for a man to be "REALLY a woman", in some weird, mystical sense that EVEN BELIEVERS can't define, in any coherent, meaningful way. This confusion is why, if you DON'T share a belief in the evidence-free, reliigious version of "gender", it's ALWAYS better to just speak ONLY in terms of sex, NOT "gender'. Because that's the only way, to not be mis-construed as AFFIRMING the religious, sex-independent version of "gender" as being a rral thing.
yes a good point it's mixed up now as the move to seperate it from sex was to allow for gender bending but now it's being used interchangeability. gender did mean sex. But even now, we hear people using gender when they mean sex. very important to get the terms correct.
Absolutely incorrect and a key misleading argument. Sex and gender are exactly the same thing - ie biological sex. The word gender was just used more in America as they were prudish to the word sex. The concept of gender IDENTITY - as in, how sex/gender is expressed in society is differnt. You cannot give them this ground because as soon as you agree that sex and gender are different you’ve given up your primary argument around biology
Kathleen Stock in _Material Girls_ cites 4 uses of the word 'gender'. GENDER1: A polite-sounding word for the division between men and women, understood as a traditional alternative word for biological sex/the division between biological males and females. GENDER2: A word for social stereotypes, expectations and norms of ‘masculinity’ and ‘femininity’, originally directed towards biological males and females respectively. These can and do differ from culture to culture, though there are many overlaps too. GENDER3: A word for the division between men and women, understood, by definition, as a division between two sets of people: those who have the social role of masculinity projected on to them, and those who have the social role of femininity projected on to them. GENDER4: A shortened version of the term ‘gender identity’. One common idea is that it is the ‘private experience of gender role’ - roughly, whether you relate to yourself psychologically as a boy or man, girl or woman, or neither, in a way that has nothing directly to do with your sex.
@@FortValance We wouldn't have to keep discussing it if men didn't keep trying to claim to be one just because they say so, despite all the evidence to the contrary

woman doesn't come from the word womb, (I agree with you but I want to make the point because I am a etymology pedant) wo basically is the old word for female, man = people/person so female person or human. the word for a male person/human was were which is where the word werewolf comes from (man wolf).
The original OE words were wif(mann), meaning “adult female human”, and wēr (pronounced weer or weer-ey) meant “adult male human”. Worked together for the alliterative wēr e wif, our modern man and wife. I’ve always found it fun that the word “man(n)” meant, simply, person.
After the Supreme Court has determined what a woman is they should turn their attention to reforming Maxwell's laws of electromagnetism. These laws have remained the same since James Clerk Maxwell formulated them in the 1800's and are in dire need of updating. It would benefit telecommunication greatly if the speed of light was increased and electrical power generation would become more efficient if the strength of the electromagnetic field was increased.
