    One of the many things that helped me overcome fear of childbirth was understanding the anatomy and how your body changes so much over the 9 months in order to stretch, relax and expand for your baby's birth- it made me confident that my body knew what it was doing. It's not like you go from your usual, not pregnant body to pushing a baby out the next day. Your body preps and changes a lot to make it easier for birth. 4 months PP and I'm still amazed a baby came out of me- it is the biggest wonder! Our bodies are amazing!

    For all you pregnant mamas I want to say I’m a survivor of having a extreme fear that I was going die during birth . I was afraid of the whole process . Especially the needles. I spent my whole pregnancy in stress & fear . I couldn’t control it ,it was so strong . When I finally gave birth it was more calming then I expected . I wasn’t in to much pain due to getting the epidural. It’s a mindset thing and honestly as women our body’s know how to do this . Enjoy your pregnancy queen you where built for this ❤️❤️❤️ I thought birth was something but post partum hit me more hard . One year later my body is back my mindset is even more strong and all I gotta worry about is chasing a one year boy 😂😂

      Its truly not as scary as it may seem. I am overdue now, by 3 days so I haven't gone through labor and delivery yet...but pregnancy itself isn't terrible. Some women aren't so lucky, but you'll likely have a textbook pregnancy and delivery. Theres a reason women do this 1, 2, 3, sometimes 12 times over. :)

    I had my 3rd baby yesterday. All I wanted was a positive birth experience after two negative ones. The birth wasn't at all what I imagined it to be. It took forever to start properly, I had painful contractions for 16 hours but almost nothing happened (I was dilated 2-3cm). Then the water broke and the baby came out within one hour. That hour was like one long contraction, extremely painful ones and then lighter ones but no break. I would have panicked if I hadn't educated myself through your videos and practiced breathing techniques. I didn't tear because I could feel when to push (small pushes and a lot of waiting). The nurse wanted to give me oxytocin to deliver placenta. I asked if we could wait, and surely after few minutes the placenta came out naturally. I got all natural birth, very painful but positive experience. Without watching your videos I could have had one more negative, maybe even traumatic experience. So THANK YOU. You pregnant ones, keep on watching and learning and PRACTISE BREATHING. 😊😊

    • @cassandra5105

      @@meryem9664 focus on breathing through the contractions. When you solely focus on that it puts your body more at ease. Definitely go into mental happy place when you’re in labor and remember when that baby comes all the pain goes away. Also let your body do the pushing. I tore more so because I was trying to get the baby out of me lol

    I just gave birth to my 6th baby 3 weeks ago. I did a fair amount of prep to be ready for this delivery because I had some fear. When I went into labor, I was ready to embrace the entire experience as a beautiful journey. My experience was unbelievably beautiful! It was a calm, peaceful and easy delivery. I attribute much of that to the breathing technique she teaches. I was always in control and that helped me relax through the whole experience. There was a moment when one of the nurses wanted me to keep pushing. I responded with telling her that baby and I are taking a break. They backed off and respected what I had said. I love these videos! Thank you for your amazing work.

    My due date is on Thursday and my mum has had 8 children. She has always had such a positive attitude surrounding the whole experience, even though all of her births have not gone the way she wanted them to. I've never been afraid of child birth! Even with my first, I was just excited to experience it! Can't wait to donit again soon, the most empowering thing I've ever gotten to do!

    • @Ashleyyyy_xx
      @Ashleyyyy_xx 2 года назад +1

      Did you have a relatively smooth, easy birth? You have a great attitude.
      I'm pregnant with my first, and have personally felt very scared about birth and the pain, tearing etc.. so trying to get all the info I can so I can relax and be informed xx

    • @victoriapinsent1337
      @victoriapinsent1337 2 года назад +2

      @@Ashleyyyy_xx nope! My first had an arm up by his head so and was slightly turned so my water broke very soon after contractions started and he didn't show up until 32 hours later. It was long and very painful with tons of back labor, but everyone was healthy and I really did go in to it believing my body could take anything that happened to it. We are built for this afterall, and since everyone was healthy I just kept going. I went two weeks over and was induced with my second one. I was really upset about being induced because I wanted so badly to be able to labor at home as long as possible this time. But I did my best to keep a good attitude and it went great. I labored in the tub for about two hours and then got out, got my epidural and he was here before it even kicked in 🤣 I'd do it a thousand more times that way!

    • @victoriapinsent1337
      @victoriapinsent1337 2 года назад +7

      @@Ashleyyyy_xx best advice i can give you id to think of labor as a staircase you can't see the top of, and every contraction as a stair. You may not know how close you are, but every single contraction HAS to be bringing you that little bit closer. When it comes to avoiding a tear, just listen to your doctor when it is time to push. Hopefully yours is as helpful as mine were. Pushing isn't about just going as hard as you possibly can, for as long as you can. Your pushes need to be intentional, or else you'll end up causing more damage. Hope that makes sense and helps!

      @@shizzlemywizzle1 I never said I didn't have childbirth anxiety! Of course labor and birth is an intimidating event to know is inevitable. I was also raised knowing my body was built for childbirth and all we can do is prepare ourselves for the best and trust in ourselves and our Healthcare providers to be able to handle whatever may arise. You can have anxiety without fear, they're two entirely different feelings in my experience.
      To answer your question, I've been subscribed to Bridget's channel for years and really just love to listen to her speak about childbirth in such a positive and motivating way, since most women really only speak about the scary or "negative" aspects of labor and delivery

So much of what is online is negative, suggesting that pregnancy is a process to hate rather than embrace. It gets old. Everyone seems to focus on negative aspects of pregnancy as if pregnancy is always a difficult and scary journey. I believe people's stressful lives contribute to this. Yesterday morning, around 7am (aug 30th) I walked a peaceful 3 miles at 40wks and 2 days....I just gave birth at 2:22 am this morning.(aug 31)
    Ladies do not fear the contractions. It’s pain with a purpose. It’s a marathon not a race. (I kept telling myself those lines) I was in the moment this tome (3rd birth, 2nd home birth) I rubbed my belly during contractions. I felt the uterus , I imagined it turning my baby.
    I was fully 10cm faster then I could have imagined. I start having contractions at 7:37pm, by 10:30 pm my water broke, she checked me at 1 am and I just waited to feel the urge to push. She scared me (not on purpose she was checking the heart beat and felt he switched) by saying my baby was breeched and I tell you not, I though about going to the hospital but I pushed thru and kept saying I can’t wait to meet you. Then I felt like I had to poop. She tricked me and said sit on the toilet when I did that urge to push came so strong.
    I got up and in three pushes he was out, head first.
    You can do it. I didn’t have a man by my side. I had my mom for 3 hours along with my midwife when she arrived.
    I watched this channel and Sarah L on RUclips as well - they really helped with the breathing techniques. Thank you guys for reading my essay. Oh yeah the after birth sucks, from birthing the placenta to the contracting and shrinking of the uterus. Ugh the worst. I didn’t tear by the way. Ok ttyl

    I’m honestly more stressed about getting things together BEFORE my baby decides to get here, and then the recovery after birth and the nursing process as my body is healing and me and my husbands life is changed literally overnight. Much more nervous about figuring out feeding, sleeping, taking care of my healing body and adjusting to new dynamic in my marriage than birth itself. I feel like there are no courses or preparation for this. 🙁

      I think the best advice is to have support during that time. If your parents or other family members can come and stay with you to take care of household chores and let you rest and feed baby, that's probably best. If they're not available, you can look into hiring a post partum doula.

    My issue is that I have general anxiety and scared of getting a panic attack during labor rather than just scared of the unknown. Some days my heart starts racing for no reason during midwife apts while my blood pressure is being measured.
    What upsets me more is I got control of it before pregnancy but now I feel like it's getting worse again while I've been pregnant and I just don't know how to deal with this irrational anxiety and fear!

    I've always been weak to pain. I feel pain so strongly, my anxiety has plagued me my entire life and that makes it worse.
    I've done hard things. I've done painful things. I've pushed myself and lost 80 pounds as a 16 year old. I've given birth to my daughter, it was 25 hours labour, I took the epidural at 21 hours in...I was exhausted and so overwhelmed.
    I had painful contractions at 35 weeks, few weeks back, and i flew into a panic attack, abandoning my want for natural birth before i even knew what was going on...and i got depressed afterwards. I'm 38 weeks and really trying to get my head in the game, but that panic attack..made me question everything I was so confidant in before.

    I was terrified of childbirth but it ended up being not as bad as I thought. I got to 8 cm after being pitocin induced but then got the epidural which was my biggest fear and it was nothing but amazing and so easy to get! However breastfeeding combined with no sleep while recovering from tearing was what I should have been terrified of because that was traumatic and I feel like it almost led to PPD.

    Although I am not anywhere near giving birth, I had wanted a natural no epidural birth. However after hearing stories from my own mother where she had no control over her 2 pregnancies, both of which she was induced by the doctor, I did feel a lot less certain about my own. Hers was two different reason, one was because she was carrying twins and had high blood pressure. The second reason was because she was overdue therefore had to be induced by the doctor. Now I am in this headspace treading between knowing that there are a lot of things that cannot be controlled, and the responsibility and whether there is anything I can do at all.

    I'm about to have my third baby so I'm not worried about the birthing process. My older kids are 8 and 14, so I'm not too worried about how to manage having 3 kids. But my mother in law who had 2 kids via scheduled c sections has no idea about having 3 kids, no idea about natural birth or labour, but she is stressing me out because she thinks she knows best, ( compared to my mother had 3 kids naturally), has invited herself to sit around and wait while I'm in labour ( it's a birthing suit with no waiting room) and has invited herself to stay at my house while I'm in postpartum recovery ( to take care of my husband and kids, not me).
    And I can't make her stop or back off because she is having a mid life crisis right now and apparently that's my fault.

I am all for epidural…but so afraid of being allergic to it, and then me being lifeless and nothing I can do about it. That’s my main fear! I have this fear due to some past hospital visits I have had and been allergic to pain medications. Especially opioids. I can not take them. I am very allergic. Hi Lauren, I thought I could answer your question as Bridget has such a massive channel and gets so many messages. My channel is much smaller. I am also a birth worker so I can help :) I was also worried about feeling out of control when I was in labour. The things that helped me the most were to understand that what my body was doing in labour was normal and natural and I used affirmations to help me get through each stage of the birth process. For example "my contractions cannot be stronger than me because they are me" " I trust my body and my baby" " My body knows how to birth my baby" "I can do anything for a minute" (meaning I can get through every long contraction when they are lasting for a minute) "My baby knows when and how to be born" . I also made sure that my care team knew what my birth preferences were and I was assertive and confident communicating what I needed during labour. Hypnobirthing meditations helped me MASSIVELY. It is the reason I teach hypnobirthing today. Another great thing that I learned, when pregnant, is that I couldn't control everything when it came to pregnancy and birth. What I could control was how calmly I dealt with things that I experienced and that enabled me to have a positive birth experience. Hope this helps, love, Anja xxx

    "The more you know, the less you fear" is not necessarily true in my case. I am a registered nurse on a neuro med-surg unit and I have a pretty good idea of what goes on during hospital births. It is the opposite of "empowering".
    I am 39w 4d. My OB told me that if I go one day after my due date he'd like to schedule an induction. I responded no, to which he said "what are you going to do then? If you don't get induced the placenta gets old and your baby can die in your belly. Then you'll have to give birth to a dead baby"
    ...
    We agreed I'll go for an NST and BPP on my due date 4/16.
    I plan to have an unmedicated birth at the hospital with my husband and my doula.
    How do I reconcile my fear of hospitals and my distaste for medication and intervention?
    I don't want these fears to hold me back from progressing. And I DO NOT want an induction.

      @@sarahj1581 Congrats! Is baby here yet? No side effects. My anesthesiologist was amazing! I was comfortable and it was magical. Right after they unhooked me, I was able to feel my feet and walk within 15 mins! The nurses were shocked. Praying for a safe, peaceful, and amazing delivery ♥️

    Any tips for the first pee/poop after birth? 🥺

    • @dcannon0110

      No fear. You’ll get a bottle to help spray water down there to help with cleaning. If you don’t tear it will just be sore. If you tear it will burn but feel good at the same time if that makes sense...

      Hi Jas, I recommend that you breathe slowly as you are peeing and pooping after birth so you don't tense up. I also recommend pouring some warm water down there when you pee to stop your urine potentially stinging any sensitive areas. Eat plenty of fibre and stay hydrated to ensure that your poops are soft and easier to pass and to dilute your wee enough for it to not sting! When are you due Jas? xxxx

    I'm 41 weeks today, first baby and terrified. I want/wanted an all natural birth but my midwife has booked me an induction in the morning. I am scared of forcing labour, I want to avoid a C section or any intervention but worried induction will cause complications. I feel like I've failed by not going into labour naturally 😔 I'm scared I won't be able to handle the pain, I'm scared something bad will happen, I know I need to stay strong but I don't know what to expect from my own reaction to labour

    The pain doesn’t scare me because I know there are ways to cope, it’s the needles, I have a phobia of needles so getting an injection is just about doable but my sister gave birth 11 years ago and told me she had a needle up inside her to induce her or break waters? She said the pain was unbearable. She doesn’t know it but that just made me feel so scared, scared of the needle, scared of unsympathetic and cold nurses, scared that I’m going to be like my sister where your body just won’t go into labour and end up having 2 c sections like she did. I’m 28 and thinking about having children I’m the next 5 years but I’m so scared of childbirth and I’m ashamed to admit it.

      @@courtneypine1330 Thankyou! Nope, we’re not travelling- we live here.😊 I’m hoping to go into labor naturally before I ask to be induced too!
