TXDOT is building a new bridge over the bay at the end.

If you need to go up the coast, don't bother driving into Corpus. The bridge construction has the interchanges all mangled and it's rough going. Avoid all this mess and exit off at Sinton- TX188. Two lane, but they are good roads. You'll lop 30-plus minutes off doing that. You'll hook up with TX-35, four lane, excellent roads. If you connect with TX-77, you are asking for trouble. Heavy semi traffic and it's not fun at all. Aggressive drivers.
