It's not ENTIRELY implausible. There may be a EC warband who gets it in their head for a challenge of "Can you do what big E did...but BETTER?" and seek to turn a world into an idealistic paradise just because it's something no one has done before and once they get the idea in their head they can't let it go until they do it.
This is kinda "wholesome" in a way. These emperor damned space marines getting a reminder of how good it feels to be cheered on by thankfully citizens calling them their saviors. Im sure eventually this world will be ruined and defaced, but maybe not. Maybe the guy in charge of this group of emperor's children might uphold his word and do exactly what he said he would. If thats the case I would be surprised if they would request a tide of civilians every year for "entertainment purposes". These are emperor's children after all. I feel like there's two ends for the planet, either the emperor's children deface and destroy the planet when bored. Or they actually become pretty decent rulers and the imperium finds them and exterminotis the entire planet seeing it as chaos corruption
As you mentioned, the planet would likely be fine until boredom sets in for the company. There is no way that Zandine (almost certainly not the right spelling), could keep his company in check, even if he wanted to - the moment they got bored (which would not take long at all), all hell would break loose. Also, this is likely just the latest in a long line of things to create temporary satisfaction for him, before he needs to move onto the next (the demon inside him would not keep quiet for long if he wasn't acting slaaneshi enough....)
@@CyberUK so he's bouncing around finding new things to entertain him, gets satisfied, then bored, "tosses out" what he was messing with and tries finding something else? Guess even space marines can have ADHD lol
Slaanesh is all about perfection, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually striving for the best standard of living for the people. Which is mad in a way, but seeing how he gets off on adoration it wouldn't be a stretch if he wanted to keep his people happy for the sole reason of drinking their cheers
@@MrFredstt which would be perfect from a certain perspectives. Slaanesh is not god of "sex, drugs or "degeneracy" blah blah", it's also embodiement of artistic pursuit, beauty/aesthetics and "love". So they probably would increase living standarts but "a-la Eldar".
So yeah, you are also right here. Liviing standarts would rise but for people to pleasure themselves and pursue artistic perfection etc. more, so Slaanesh would be more powerful (kind of). Slaanesh came to existence because of Eldar's being kind of high-civillisation in the end
@@noumena9463 Xantine pretty much does think he is creating a perfect artistic society. In the book he mentions wanting to make it the cultural gem and the most beautiful civilization in the galaxy. The book actually runs the gambit with obsessiveness. Xantine wants perfection in combat, in art, and to be the perfect ruler loved by all. Torachon is obsessive about his combat ability and his buffness. Lordling is obsessive about eating people. Sarquil is obsessive about logistics. Vavisk about music. You get the gist. Though I will mention one thing they ALL have in common is being drug addicts and torturers
Slaanesh apologists are deluded jnto thinking slaanesh would create a perfect pleasure planet. In reality they would be first to be skinned alive by daemonettes.
Nah, that's more of the Wordbearer's gig. Getting saved by Emperor's Children is more like being saved by an army of Social Media Influencers composed of Van Life'ers, Trustafarians, Fashion Haulers and Poverty Tourism travellers.
@@Ideo7Z It can always get worse, like getting stuck in a Mexican standoff better them "In the name of Slaneesh we claim these mortal souls" "No no no, the Archon wanted these fine morsels of torture meat." "Sevetar sent us here to reap these servants of the corpse emperor"
Upside of Emperor’s Children is that they might want to experience being big damn heroes and save you, down side is that they have a very short attention spans and at any moment decide to get back to their “hobbies”, just for the lols.
Assuming she is calling on Slanneshi warp energy in order to pull off the interrogation. Perhaps the incredibly disturbing manner is a sort of “fuel” for the power she is using.
I believe she had to break into his mind, to cause his pain and inability to scream the horrors to consume and delight in his suffering, to know as to what he desperately now wished to tell and scream to her
An emperors child losing intelligence is interesting. We normally see them as narcissistic and hot headed but they're generally described as being incredibly intelligent from spending decades perfecting their minds as well as their bodies.
I kinda like that this emperor's children warband is portrayed as a fairly competent fighting force that still has enough sober braincells to use basic strategy and tactics. Sometimes, I think it's easy to get lost in the sauce of 40k memes and dismiss all emperor's children marines as mindless marauding crackheads in power armor.
Well......I hate to break it to you but they are not competent. Later in the book they're pretty much all at each other's throats and betraying one another bc they think they're strongest and most perfect
Fighting to save an imperial world as a member of Chaos slaanesh space marine warband that is truly an extreme that you can’t get anywhere else. Not to mention you’d throw the inquisition for one hell of a loop when word gets out.

'The Emperor's Children are some of the most deranged and sadistic groups of space marines to have ever blighted the galaxy,' Ironically accurate for both the legion, and for the Emperor's actual children.
Emperor's children: We're here to save you. Planet militia fighting the Tyranids:....Naaaaa, we'll take our chances with the bugs. At least they will just eat us and not fuck, torture, rip us apart, eat and then kill us.
Firefly reavers come to mind “if they catch us they will rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sow our skin into their clothing.. and if we are VERY VERY lucky, they will do it in that order.”
I like to picture the Noise Marines, as looking, and sounding, like Dethklok, from Metalocalypse, with them, and their allies headbanging, rhythmically, heads bobbing, up and down, with one hand up, index finger, and pinky, sticking up, thumb sticking out, and the other fingers curled up, while, with their other hand, they shoot, slash, or otherwise deal with their enemies. I would love to see them animated, that way, even if it’s a totally different band, with different music, so long as it’s hard, and heavy, metal, it would be great to see.
No, lol. It's remarked by some of the others that he is fueled purely by pride. He wants to outdo what Fulgrim did with Chemos and make a planet more perfect. There was a funny line bc as he's on his spiel one of his brothers says that Fulgrim doesn't even know who Xantine is lmao
Oh no, if it ever came to light and the Imperium got back, the only explanation they need here is some form of resignation of the self-termination variety. It'll be quick and painless by comparison.
I believe 2 Chapters dating to the tine of Legions would just get sad. It means the good marines are still in there, but the corruption is still too deep to be saved.
Quick question; if a gene stealer cult has matured to the point of breaking out in revolt, doesn’t that mean that a hive fleet is approaching? Does defeating the cult somehow cause the hive fleet to lose interest and change course or is this planet still basically doomed?
As far as I know they will only show up once the Genestealers have secured the planet and the Patriarch psychically calls the hive fleet to come harvest. Being that he was still in hiding that probably didn't happen yet.
Spoiler Xantine keeps some of the genestealers in stasis. At the end of the book he is upset that the people no longer love him and that his brothers betrayed him so he releases them. They're then able to send out the signal to the hive fleet and it shows up and invades the planet as Xantine tries to escape in the midst of it.
It's good to finally get some good EC content that isn't just Fabius doing Fabius things! I'd like to hear the second half and learn how crazy Zanten goes
I would love to ether see the ECs go totally nuts with the governing strategies or see some kind of escalation as a tendril of the great devourer nears the planet. Will the EC flee with their tails between their legs? I do not think so. Maybe they could try to forge an alliance with other traitorous chapters - there will definitely be blood in abundance. Or they could teach the citizens the way of the warp to defend their planet. The possibilities are endless!
Hey thanks I appreciate the super thanks! It looks like a lot of people really want me to do the other half of the video so I will definitely follow up on it!
Love the Emperor's Children, they just always seemed so much more human in some aspects, but completely divorced from reality in other's... also, finally a really fun example of how strong a daemon can be... always hated that any shmuck with a pencil could kill a daemon
@@nickkorkodylas5005 Guilliman is an absolute beast when needed, I wouldn't be surprised if he could take in some of the stronger enemies alone... but when unnamed Guardsmen #86 beats a khornate daemon in a fist fight or beats any daemon more often than not... just makes the literal manifestation of evil in the world look like it's really not that bad of a threat😋
@@peterallen5575No, this is another author In fact..this book is the first black library (and I am pretty sure actual first) full fleshed novel he has ever written I checked..and he wrote some small stories for black library as well beforehand.
I have a homebrewed Emperors Children warband that basically showed up and liberated some worlds from a corrupt government, because the land was beautiful and a lot of the worlds cities had gorgeous marble structures and spires of twisted perfection piercing the clouds. They basically just liberated the world then declared it under their management and are so far actually running the system quite well for now. But that’s just my home brewed warband.
Maybe… just MAYBE, there’s a small glimmer of hope that my favorite formerly loyal legion can get their shit together and become loyal again (you know, somewhat)
Just how many sensible people did you see in this story? Also, as an aside, sensible is relative. To anyone who knows anything of the wider universe but is also born into it and a part of it, this isn't abnormal to them. May they wish things were different? Sure, but so do a lot of us in our own world.
At 27:30 is she interrogating someone afflicted by the gene stealers kiss but the others in the room are unaware? I’m 99% they are sure due to the fact aware of the location of the Queen.
Yes that's exactly what's happening. She could smell the xenos corruption in the room immediately and since outside it had been determined that they were dealing with a gene stealer cult she knew exactly what to look for.

In concept, The 3rd Legion is my absolute favorite chaos marine band. But I've always been underwhelmed about the noise marines. Oh, but no longer. The description of the noise marines exploding the skulls and " liquefying bones" made my appreciation of them grow in leaps and bounds and have become some of my favorite marine types now. Thank you for this story and keep up the good work!
Strangely Vavisk was one of the more sane members which isn't what I would've expected from a noise marine. I mean of course he DID convert a cathedral into a gigantic orchestra using humans as the living instruments but ya know outside of that he was pretty cool
This book covers everything as to why The Emperor's Children are my favourite marines. You aren't going to win, these are the Emperor's Fallen angels, and they will drag you down with them.

I'm a massive fan of the emperor's children, and my God, this is definitely the right book for anyone who's trying to get into them and would definitely love a second part to see how our favorite boi, does for himself!
I always love hearing stories on the Emperor's Children. It's my main army alongside my Slaanesh turned House Taranis Chaos Knights, and the main reason I play EC is pretty much easy to divulge from their lore and any story with them in it. They have TONS of free reign to act in a wild series of fun ways that makes creating a back story for any army made with them truly diverse and a joy to expand on.
I loved this book, to the point I wanted to make an Adored army by the time I had gotten to the end of this part. But this quote from sandman has never been truer. All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death. Neil Gaiman, Preludes & Nocturnes (The Sandman, #1)
Now I really want to read the book. It never occurred to me that wacky hijinks would work with Chaos Space Marines, but now I need to see it in action.
Part 2 please. This story was amazing. I also like how the council has Addams family vibe to it. They are monsters, but they also seem like one big, dysfunctional family
I love the longer stories you do. This is my favorite. And yes, I know it's from the book but I don't have 20 hours to listen to an audiobook. So thank you! And Majorkill for the idea!* *kidding😂
Ok now this is interesting. While I hope this guy might make things better (somewhat), optimist at heart that I am, I know in my heart it will only end in tragedy. Please do a second part, as I'm genuinely interested to see if this takes a more fruitful take on what a chaos chapter might to pragmatically, or if it falls into the same repetitive narrative of things always getting worse.
For anyone wondering, the book this is based on is over 400 pages, and there's an audiobook available, so it's well worth listening to the whole thing.

@@servit0r Honestly, no idea. If there is, I would find that hilarious.
"I bet they'll be beautiful like the angels of legend" there's a reason angels always said don't be afraid
Ophanim- 🖐👁👁👁👁👁🖐
The ending is pretty grimdark
@@marqofthedwyne as to be expected lmao. Oh well. Was fun while it lasted

Well, not to spoil anything, he strives for a "perfect" society in the way you can expect from what a Slaanesh worshipper would consider "perfect"
"the Emperor's Children are coming to save you."
The 40k equivalent of "I'm with the government and I'm here to help"
Nah, that's more of the Wordbearer's gig. Getting saved by Emperor's Children is more like being saved by an army of Social Media Influencers composed of Van Life'ers, Trustafarians, Fashion Haulers and Poverty Tourism travellers.
@@Ideo7Z It can always get worse, like getting stuck in a Mexican standoff better them
"In the name of Slaneesh we claim these mortal souls"
"No no no, the Archon wanted these fine morsels of torture meat."
"Sevetar sent us here to reap these servants of the corpse emperor"
Upside of Emperor’s Children is that they might want to experience being big damn heroes and save you, down side is that they have a very short attention spans and at any moment decide to get back to their “hobbies”, just for the lols.
A Part 2, YES, PLEASE!
Yes
54:30 amm yes!!!
I like to believe that the witch could've just read the spy's mind, but the gruesome torture was just her having fun.
i want her as a model, and i want her to be a precision unit xD
she probably could of just read his mind but was like nah lets rip out some guts
The dude was part genesteeler she was right to make him tear his guts out.
That last bit got a good chuckle.
Memes have ruined the image of the EC.
@korniestpatch To be fair the EC ruined the image of the EC first.
@@MaticustheRed I mean in the lore yes. But people really focus on one or two things about slaanesh and ignore everything else.
Well......I hate to break it to you but they are not competent. Later in the book they're pretty much all at each other's throats and betraying one another bc they think they're strongest and most perfect
"These mortals have too many arms..." dude your patron deity has too much of everything
Fighting to save an imperial world as a member of Chaos slaanesh space marine warband that is truly an extreme that you can’t get anywhere else. Not to mention you’d throw the inquisition for one hell of a loop when word gets out.
They would most likely short circuit and decide to play it safe. Exterminatus safe. I mean, „Who knows what sick chaos plan this is but I will have nothing of that!“
Inquistor :"Are you sure its not the Alpha legion?"
Nah they'd be like "Weird. Now Exterminatus it."
"No one will ever believe you." 😂😂
The words "Kicking and screaming": *Exist*
Weshammer: "I can milk you"
🤣
'The Emperor's Children are some of the most deranged and sadistic groups of space marines to have ever blighted the galaxy,' Ironically accurate for both the legion, and for the Emperor's actual children.
Hey what about the Sensei? They seem to be doing alright.
guys, why is the inquisition at my doorstep?
2:15 The shocked and amazed faces Wes makes while jabbing his finger toward the sponsor product or while playing RAID or whatever always cracks me up.
Emperor's children: We're here to save you.
Planet militia fighting the Tyranids:....Naaaaa, we'll take our chances with the bugs. At least they will just eat us and not fuck, torture, rip us apart, eat and then kill us.
And if you're very, very lucky, they'll do it in the reverse order.
Firefly reavers come to mind “if they catch us they will rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sow our skin into their clothing.. and if we are VERY VERY lucky, they will do it in that order.”
Emperor's Children chasing the rarest sensation - that warm feeling you get from being thanked for a good deed
Thumb tucked in. Thumb out is Spider-Man.
Sorry, my mistake. I’ve never actually done it. I just thought it looked funny. I guess I wasn’t watching closely enough.
I like to think that Xantine has a tiny miniscule flicker of humanity left in him that compelled him to do what he did in on cerene
No, lol. It's remarked by some of the others that he is fueled purely by pride. He wants to outdo what Fulgrim did with Chemos and make a planet more perfect. There was a funny line bc as he's on his spiel one of his brothers says that Fulgrim doesn't even know who Xantine is lmao
Imagine trying to explain what happened to some inquisitor or other chapter of space marines
Good thing for the inhabitants the Imperium has lost track of the planet.
💭(Exterminatus!)
Sounds like some heresy to me brother, the inquisition has been informed
Quick question; if a gene stealer cult has matured to the point of breaking out in revolt, doesn’t that mean that a hive fleet is approaching? Does defeating the cult somehow cause the hive fleet to lose interest and change course or is this planet still basically doomed?
As far as I know they will only show up once the Genestealers have secured the planet and the Patriarch psychically calls the hive fleet to come harvest. Being that he was still in hiding that probably didn't happen yet.
I would assume they still go for it because it now weakened
Spoiler
Xantine keeps some of the genestealers in stasis. At the end of the book he is upset that the people no longer love him and that his brothers betrayed him so he releases them. They're then able to send out the signal to the hive fleet and it shows up and invades the planet as Xantine tries to escape in the midst of it.
The idea of the emperors children that had time with clonegrim becoming good is a really good idea
This would make a sick missions in space marine 2 DLC where you can play as chaos and kill xenos. One could dream.
Or kill your own chaos inflicted brother to further ascend.
Please! Video about the second half! This was so good.
Do not underestimate the pencil, it is Guilliman's greatest opponent by his own admission!
S’janth: Me inside your head now!
Sarquel: Xantine, you mind telling me what you're doing?
Xantine: Giving the genestealers back their bomb.

I’m guessing they keep their chaos worship a secret.
@ Not really they’re just using cultists to the extreme
Maybe… just MAYBE, there’s a small glimmer of hope that my favorite formerly loyal legion can get their shit together and become loyal again (you know, somewhat)
So long as there's enough glory and excess, but not too much, I think at least some could become loyal once again.
Never😂
The notion that any sensible person would naturally support the imperium kinda misses the point of the setting.
Just how many sensible people did you see in this story?
Also, as an aside, sensible is relative. To anyone who knows anything of the wider universe but is also born into it and a part of it, this isn't abnormal to them.
May they wish things were different? Sure, but so do a lot of us in our own world.
@@TheLH86 Not many. Which was the whole point so not sure why you're asking.

That's really cool to hear! I hope your friend is doing better, addiction runs in my family so I know what it's like seeing someone you care about struggle. I hope the hobby proves to be a great outlet for him!
My lord please do more. I love this twisted savior haha. One of my biggest grips is the lack of good Emperors children lore videos. Fantastic job with the narration
“We are free!”
“Not free more…under new management”

I've always thought GW picked the Slaanesh-marked Legio to get the name "Emperor's Children," and have them keeping it in-character, as a reference to the Freudian Id.
Please cover the second half! Itll be interesting to see how badly it goes for the planet. (To be honest, xantine sounds so up his own ass I can fully believe he’ll forget the people need basic things like food and water, expecting them to worship him as they starve)
It goes REALLY bad. It includes a Khorne cult and a bloodthirster, betrayal, a rebellion, AND a tyrannid invasion
Your videos have made me a fan of 40k. The lore is great. I just found these stories within the lore. Loving them so far.
So far it seems like a surprisingly uplifting story for a chaos marine. Can’t wait to see how they change that
Genestealer Patriarch: "I thought _we_ were the bad guys!"
"We’re the bad guys right ! Right ?"
Emperor's Children: We have come save you!

Civi: Oh throne it's the emperor's children.
Part two
Nice Hellsing Ultimate Abridged reference
Slaanesh raiders suddenly rediscover the principles of agronomy and industry after being outraided by other chaos factions.
Just a regular day for a Slaaneshi warband
Please do a part 2! The characters in this story are so good and I want to hear about Zantines interpretation of perfection!
Not doing a follow up to finish the story would just be cruel. Definitely wanna see a part 2!
This book covers everything as to why The Emperor's Children are my favourite marines.
They're all over the place, they're fun, they're prideful and arrogant saturday morning villians who can actually back up their boasts.
You aren't going to win, these are the Emperor's Fallen angels, and they will drag you down with them.

Please do the rest of that story... can't wait to see his idea of "Utopia"

"Massive understatement" was said. Video confirmed for great
I loved this book, to the point I wanted to make an Adored army by the time I had gotten to the end of this part. But this quote from sandman has never been truer.
All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death.
