- Related to Julie, this golden green mango is soft and tender with melting, juicy flesh. ‘Carrie’ mango has a complex, spicy, rich, sweet taste with no fiber. It is one of our most popular varieties!
In this video, find out more information on the origin of ‘Carrie’, the tree and its fruit. Chris shows you how and when to correctly pick ‘Carrie’ mangos (which can be challenging).

Planted my Carrie mango 🥭 tree 🥭 from Chris this morning! 👍
Flushed new growth already. A new bud of leaves popped two days ago. May have planted Carrie in the perfect spot. The growing season has many more months to go.
Update, budding a 3rd leaf flush. Very excited about this variety!
I love Carrie , I have 14 mango trees and 3 are Carrie 👍
Thanks for the video !
You probably have more friends showing up than you have Carrie 😆 🤣 lol
Such a beautiful tree too
I have noticed that Carrie fruit starts filling the room with a sweet smell when the fruit is ripe.
That alone is a good indicator of readiness.
Ohhhh yeahhhh Indeed! Carrie Mango is one of the most delicious mangos the world over! I could eat it all year round.
'Carrie' is one of our most popular mango varieties! It's a great one!
Mahalo Nui Loa for sharing Da Mangos Brahdah!
The quantity of fruit I had this year was crazy, but what was puzzling was how much of it fell off the tree even back in April. All sizes from small to medium. Some of this was due to some wind storms, but I was astonished at the quantity. I was able to salvage some of them by letting them sit and ripen on their own. I still have many on the tree, but should probably pick them soon. This was the most I have had on this tree ever, it's been about 10 years.
Same happened in my yard when we added a bee hive. The pollination rate definitely went up. One tree's branch (not the Carrie thankfully) fell off as it was too heavy with mangos!
drop is usually from lack of water , it was quite dry this year until end of may , around the time of those storms . i think the double stress led to your drop . do supplemental watering in dry seasons . idea is to not over water , but not allow for it to be under watered also. 2-3x a week , and lets say 10 gallons per 4ft of tree height . another way lack of water is expressed , is in cracking fruit after heavy rains . its caused by the tree being thirsty , and then when it rains , the tree gorges itself, causing the inside of the fruit to grow faster than the skin , and they burst .
thank you for making great informative videos on all these mango varieties!
Thanks! I'm glad they're useful.
My 5-foot established Carrie only gives me one fruit yearly 😥. I have pruned several of its branches to graft other varieties... Hopefully the remaining Carrie branches will produce with time... Wishful as I like this mango very much!
Great videos Chris. Request videos on Spirit of '76, Venus, Cotton Candy, Orange Essence, J-12/Super Julie, Kathy/K3 & Seacrest. No one else has done videos on them yet. Thanks!!!
All but one of those varieties are on our To-Do List. Unfortunately we might have to wait until next season.
It takes lots of time for Chris to make these videos. We don't see anyone else doing them. Plus ➕️, Chris's time is spent grafting trees where there is more demand than trees. Thank you so much for these videos Chris!
thank you 😀
Possible to have the Carrie mango on container ?
Can we please get a break down like this on an Irwin tree if you guys have one? Just purchased my first grafted tree from a nursery and I’ve got three grafted rootstocks with my neighbors scions that I’m hoping will make it. Thanks so much 😁
Do you sell during season at the farm ??
Ooooohhhh yeahhhhh Baby! Gi me some.
Thanks, great video!!
Will you ever do a review on the cotton candy mango variety I'm interested in buying one
We won't be able to do a video on it this year, but we will try to post some into on it
nice videos keep them coming, can you do one on pickering, honey kiss, next?
We won't have any 'Honey Kiss' fruit this year, but we will try to do 'Pickering' this summer. Thanks for the suggestions!
Great vid. Can you expand a little more on what other things to look for them to be ready to pick? You mentioned the stem. Any other specifics that can help? Mine seem to be ready to go but seem far too hard.
I'll try to get more specific on picking. Thanks for the suggestion!
Why do you leave on the stem when you pick them?
Me eating Carrie While Watching Your Video
Its Fully Grown, Green From Outside White from Inside
Its Juicy, Its Sour And Very Tasty
Assalamu Alaikum (Blessings) From Pakistan
Do you grow alphonso mangoes .
Please do a video of these mango varieties: Coconut Cream, Cotton Candy, M4, Ice cream & mun kun si.
Thank u
We're working on Coconut Cream, and we should be able to do Ice Cream this season also. Mun Kun Si is not part of our collection, so I'm not sure if we will do a video on that variety. Cotton Candy and M4 are possible for next year. Thanks for your suggestions!
Truly Tropical also lemon zest
Lemon Zest might be possible this season. Our main LZ tree is still small, but has fruit on it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Is Carrie productive and cold hardy?
I have a Carrie mango tree and noticed the south branches produced more fruits. Why’s that happening
More sun exposure on south side of tree. Mangoes 🥭 love that 🌞 sunlight
I saw that Carrie mango is also called Alphonso on a site named yp farms so look 👀 out because who knows maybe you are just growing heaps of carrie instead for Carrie AND Alphonso
A local tropical nursery has 3 or 4 Case trees, surprisingly. One had a fruit but did not have as much green leaves. Should I get a bushier one or the one fruiting?
Fruiting trees generally look worse than trees without fruit. Developing fruit takes a lot of the plant's resources. Assuming all the trees are grafted, I would buy the bushier one that doesn't have fruit because it won't need to recover from having had fruit.
When does this tree start flowering? I have an 8 footer, 15 gallon grafted tree with no flowers yet 😒
Has it flowered yet?
@@rawkingkong nope but it has grown some green shoots. Weird that it didn't flower. She's healthy. Maybe next year.
What is your opinion for the best mango to grow in a (large like 45 gal) container? Thanks so much
It really depends on what type of mango you like the best. Several varieties can be grown successfully in large pots.
Truly Tropical ok thanks so much. I think I’m gonna get a ‘Glenn’ to begin my collection
Not sure how Glenn will do in a pot, but Glenn & Edward are arguably two of the best tasting EARLY varieties. Glenn is an excellent "first tree" for anyone.
Pickering always fits the niche
Do you have any carrie trees available
yes
@@TrulyTropical do you have Carrie Scion for sale or trade for Okinawa mango Scion?
can it be planted in winter haven?
In Winter Haven you would need to protect it from cold snaps.
do u sell carrie mangos ?
we do... usually Carrie season is late June and early July
How do you deal with pests?
We have dogs to chase the animal pests away.
please do nam doc mai and coconut creme mango reviews
We will try to get both of those done this season. Thanks for the suggestions!
alphanso mango
When does it blossom ?
It depends on the weather. They can flower November-April, but they typically flower in December and January.
What type would flower in April ? I have seen yards in Arizona and California that get freezes but they have trees that were grown from seed. Those trees are now 30 feet high.
At least in Florida, the timing of the first cold snap determines when the tree produces it's first flowers.
How so ?
mangos flower after some type of dormancy. cold is the most typical event that triggers the cycle
