Would love to see a short video demonstrating the quick, unique freestone seed removal ability he described ! I think that would be a big hit on the internet...and a strong selling pt. Better describing the umbrella shaping might also go over quite well also, I would think. Great video ! Thx :)
Thanks for the suggestions! It seems that we'll have to do some follow-up videos on several of the varieties. But we should get through all the varieties in the grove first.
I just saw this wonderful idea on the Zill mango & realized it wasn’t the fiber juice mango I have been hunting for and they are larger than what I know. Perhaps it is actually a turpentine that I need!? Any idea where can I find a very sweet very fibrous mango?!
Saw your comment, I happen to own both varieties, and the Irwin usually cannot touch the Zil for flavor. But the Irwin does have some slight advantages. They are both fiberless and the Zil is always good and very sweet, though smaller than the Irwin, but it bruises easily. If it hits the ground it will be mushy around the seed in most cases and if you don't like the mush you won't get much fruit. It needs to be picked before it's to ripe, and then eaten as soon as it gets ripe. The Irwin is a bit larger and does not bruise so easily, and is usually not very sweet at first, however it does tend to get sweeter the longer it stays on the tree and it can be pretty good by the end of the season. But early in the season I just give them away, I cannot eat Irwin when I have Zil to eat. They are both very productive as well as large trees. I've got over 600 mangoes on the Irwin this year and at least 500 on the Zil. But my favorite mango is the Fascell of which I've finally managed to graft this year, not to many people have heard of it, and you cannot buy this tree anywhere, even though it is an old variety.
The fruit looks beautiful on the tree!
Beautiful fruits!
Purple blush...

Chris,
Please let me know what is considered a better Mango in your opinion. The Zill or Irwin. I'm trying to decide which tree to get.
Thank you.
They are very different mangos. I prefer Zill.
Ok, thank you!

Are Zill's at all cold hardy?
Can take a couple of hours 32°F if warmed up later. An old tree 🌳 might take a few hours @27°F but will have some damage.
