I love how well spoken, professional and passionate Alex is. I really enjoy listening to him speak about mangos. I have learned so much. I appreciate his time.

I got one of these from Alex's farm this year. It was massive and it was delicious. One side was all red, and the other side was green but turned yellow once it was ripe

It (the Zill 80 ) Sounds amazing!! I do think for as much work as Gary Zill put into his mango varieties the best tasting ones should have his name on them. I had just a mango I bought from Walmart. It ended up with fire blight or some other type of blight, but it was the strangest thing where it was grafted into the root stock in looked like it was ripping the graft open. I end up losing it to the blight. Hope you got to taste the Zill 80. Thank you for taking us along on all these great visits. Now I want to try the Zill 80. And find some Lychees, yumm.

I don't think I could bring myself to buy a fruit tree from Walmart, no matter how good of a deal it was.

Torn between this and M4 for late season favorites.

I wonder when Carla ripens--another vigorous tree like Zill-80. Similar, outstanding flavor. Alex mentioned that Zill-80 was a parent.

Carla on dwarfing rootstock - wonder if Alex is grafting on Piva?

Another mango that is really similar to Zill-80 in flavor but not quite as vigorous would be Providence, but for some people (Alex included) it proved to be too disease-prone. I planted a tree around 2014 or 2015 after tasting it at Walter's in Boynton Beach. I had no disease issues with it, and the fruit was huge--in the 2 to 3 lb. range. The flavor was classic and Kent-like but with extra acidity, really delicious. The tree has been removed to make room for a pool by the new owners of the house. I've been told that Providence trees have remained healthy in various other locations, but I doubt that Zill is still propagating it.

Thank you for the comment I'll keep it in mind if I see a Providence tree.

Big Red is what I was thinking too! Either that or Clifford Red after the well-known children's book series, Clifford the Big Red Dog.

The sign on one of your videos shows 5 dls a pound the mango. Is that correct?
