    Not only is he a great bencher, he's super approachable. He was gracious enough to speak with my son about benching at the Arnold Expo. That's something that'll stick with him for the rest of his life.

    I'd be more impressed seeing 135 raw!

    Donny Thompson, Gene Rychlak, and others were pushing the 1000 lb bench frontier just 10-12 years ago. Now, Jimmy is working to attain a 1500 lb bench. Wow! That is all I can say. That will be an incredible event.

    A 700 pound bench press raw to me is much more impressive than a 1500 in a shirt benching with a shirt should be banned but thats my opinion

    I would love to know his raw bench i was thinking before i heard him talk about it 650-700 after i think 550-600raw

    • @GudMarty
      @GudMarty Год назад +3

      He doesn’t do 700 raw nowhere near. I’d guess like 500s

    • @derekrushe
      @derekrushe Год назад +1

      So if his raw bench is 600 and he thinks a 1500 os possible that means that the shirt is taking 900 lbs of that load. It's fucking ridiculous.

    • @Jdl223
      @Jdl223 Год назад +2

      He doesn't train for raw benching, that gets away from sport specificity. Trying to compare the two is foolish

    • @derekrushe
      @derekrushe Год назад

      @Jdr23 it shouldn't even be called a bench press. It's akin to the high jump and pole vault. In one its 99% the human, in the other its 75% the equipment. Same here. Someone claiming they can bench 1400lbs when they can't bench 700lbs raw is ridiculous. Compare it to geared and raw squats and deadlifts where the difference is really small.

    • @Jdl223
      @Jdl223 Год назад +2

      @Derek Rushe Why not? Your lying on a bench and pressing. If you are a raw bench presser and you compete as such you shouldn't be worried about him, hes not in your set of expectations. If you compete equipped, then you might have something to worry about.

    1400 pounds!? Man the equipment has gone too far... just get a man operating a fork lift on the barbell and call it "equipped lifting"

    • @igordimitrov281
      @igordimitrov281 Год назад +7

      Still the weight is going to be in your hands and you will need to move it down and up in the perfect trajectory. That's why we don't see a lot of people that just putting the equipment and lifting incredible amounts of weight. There are only few guys that are pioneers. It will be the same if you give to a regular car driver to use a jumbo jet.

      Holding 1400 would be insane, but imagine pushing it

      Can you believe those pole vaulters think they're doing anything? Jeez, learn to high jump, that big stick is doing 99% of the work

    • @Dementia.Pugilistica
      @Dementia.Pugilistica Год назад

      @AP-qu2li that's a good analogy. Just not my cup of tea let's say

      It's a different skill, almost another sport. "Raw" lifters use equipment too. Such as a belt, knee sleeves, wrist wraps. Trying to compare them is silly. It's a different division in the sport
