Ford sound pack is the issue.
This fix works if you only use your phone Bluetooth connection to the vehicle. If you plug in your android phone via cable into the vehicle it does not work correctly.
I hope solve can solve this issue.

@@michaelkirby9333 I have never hooked it up with a cable and it does this. BTW 2023 Superduty. I already had the ringtone set to phone ringtone and it still is not working. I love the truck but hate the electronics and the stupidly designed dashboard and towing nonsense.

I just bought a used 2019 Ford Super Duty in this problem was making me crazy. I thought it was a cable and then I thought it was the infotainment system. I bring it into the dealer and he tries it on his phone and it works just fine. So I go back home and check the internet and find this video and suddenly life is good and everything is working as intended. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This fix works. However every time it goes sync ringtone. Any solution for keeping the phone ringtone permanently?

I have struggled with this for so long. 2017 Fusion. It use to be only when plugged in with Android Auto. Then Ford released a Patch a few months ago and it was solved for 3 months, until I got my latest Android update. Now it won't work on wired or wireless in my car for incoming calls. That was until this video! This seems so silly and unrelated. I have no idea how you figured this out, but it's amazing. Thank you!

Thank God! This drives me nuts. And the Ford ringtones and notifications are unnecessarily loud and obnoxiously piercing.
My hero! So frustrating missing incoming calls from my boss. I started noticing this when I took my truck in for service at the dealer. Wonder if they did something or a power disconnect did it though I have disconnect the battery on the truck several times without issue. Anyway, thanks again. I have been so stressed and frustrated because of this issue.

Thank you so much for this, it saved so much frustration. I can believe Ford has not fixed this yet. BTW for some people it works when no audio is selected and for some it works when Phone audio is selected so try both, one option should work

Works! Thanks. Note that your phone has to be disconnected for the "use phone ringtone" option to show up on the Ford screen.

Fixed my 2018 Ford Edge! I hate that it's easier to search RUclips than ask a dealer though.
Right??? I've asked them twice and both times they said they've never heard of this issue then wanted to charge me $199 to do a "system reset" (I can do a master reset in about 60 seconds myself).
This process (can't call it a fix!) worked for me. THANK YOU!! I've been frustrated with this problem for some time. I could hear incoming calls, but they could not hear me. If I disconnect my phone from the car while an incoming call is in progress I can usually be heard after I answer. Nobody should have to go through that. When will this actually be fixed??
Yeah very disappointed in Ford on this. I'm going back to GMC next time.

Question: Although this works for me (thank you!), it does not stick. Is it necessary to do this every time I drive, or is there some way to make my Ford Escape / Sync 3 / Pixel 5 / Android 13 agree to remember this setting from one time to the next?
Worked! Thanks!! 2018 Lincoln MKZ. I saved for quite a while to finally buy the Lincoln I wanted. So many glitches with this system. Sometimes the screen just goes blank until I restart the car. So disappointing.

Two years later and apparently continues to be an ongoing issue with Android Auto. Thumbs UP!!! This resolved an annoying, recurring problem with my 2017 Ford F150/Android Auto. Naturally, it would happen when I was driving. Short term solution was to just call the caller back. I always forgot about it by the time I was done driving and someplace I could GTS. Such a stupid simple fix. How did you stumble on this?

Thank YOu for this workaround! Been strugling for months. When answering on Android Auto, I switch to speakerphone then bluetooth and back to speakerphone and it was working.
Yeah this drove me crazy until I found a fix. Seems like a simple fix for Ford but they don't bother to fix it even in new models.

Still, I have issues, I tried your method. A new solution is needed to disconnect Bluetooth and reconnect while on call. This help.

Thanks. That seems to have worked! Pixel 3 with 2017 Escape Sync 3. My problem appeared only when using USB cable and Android Auto. No issues ever with Bluetooth direct to Sync.

I don't have the phone ringtone option on my sync 3 ( ford mondeo 2018 ), but i've seleced the " no ringtone " option, and answering from the right " ok " button on the steering wheel, it works, i can now hear the person call me and back. Selecting " no ringtone " and answering from the sync touchscreen or phone answer button on the steering wheel, will have the same problem 😢

My 2017 f150 xlt has this issue BUT I don't have an option for 'use phone ringtone'. I have no ringtone, 1, 2, or 3, and there's nothing to scroll down further to. Any suggestions guidance?
I think figured it out for mine. While phone unplugged, I had to disconnect phone Bluetooth to truck, then in sync 3 phone settings I saw the 'use phone ringtone' finally!
I selected that, and then later with truck on i reconnected Bluetooth to truck, plugged in, reviewed ringtone settings (all were deselected - which was never the case previously), and there was no 'use phone ringtone' present as option. Tested incoming call and it worked! Also unplugged and turned off Bluetooth again, checked ringtone settings, and this time 'use phone ringtone' was present and still selected. I think its solved for now. Thank you!
How abt no audio w/google maps, reading out text msgs, or voice commands. Was working fine until a week ago. SYNC3 on 2017 Ford Explorer
You likely have set the announcement volume down.

Please help. What it the problem is on outgoing calls. I can only place 1 call when I get into vehicle. After that, there's no ringing on outbound calls. 2021 Explorer platinum.

I just bought a 2012 expedition and I was having the same problem. But what actually worked for me was selecting a ringtone from the SYNC menu and not my phone ringtone. Now I'm able to hear incoming and outgoing calls.

Should be the same option. You just have to find it in the menus. Sorry I don't have a 2020.
