Only George Lucas would spend literal years developing ships, and hide them in the background.
But then put a massive CGI camel in front of the camera for a number of seconds
He's the dumbest genius in cinema :)
People hate him for really no reason...
LOL true, but that's why we love him. Especially the vehicles and droids with SO many designs in the prequels
It’s disturbing how many things I don’t notice in the movies... especially with how many times I’ve seen them
I find your lack of vision disturbing..
Only shows you care more about the story than the trivial tricks :)
Sure, but I’d probably notice it if I was more observant
I like your pfp
jaboipiranhaR6 thanks, just making a joke lol
Not to worry, we're still flying half a hidden ship!
Haha
Confused R2 screaming
Another hidden landing.

You can spend all day looking at cool stuff in the background of ROTS. During the Grevious fight on Utapau for instance, one of the B1 droids taps on another droid's shoulder and then motions towards Grevious right before he turns on his lightsabers.
In the same fight when the clones start attacking, very briefly you can see a clone trooper throwing hands with a battle droid!
Did not see this
Also, you can see a clone cut down and another clone kneel to check for a pulse, then wave over a medic right before Obi-Wan's lightsaber hits the ground.
I never noticed the CIS army in the background until now.
Yeah that's whack I never noticed full on Spider walkers and AATs until he pointed it out.
I wonder if any of them saw the clones kill Aayla, they must've been confused
@@InvictusMatrix had to be a setup. Neither side opened fire is what confused me. Maybe there was alittle underlying story.
@@noconnection1839 youre thinking too much into it they were just too far away. If order 66 didnt happen the battle wouldve started within minutes.
No connection maybe the droid army had been shut down by then
I noticed several things: On Coruscant when Anakin and Obi-Wan are talking to each other for the last time as friends you can see AT-OTs in the facility behind Anakin, on Utapau you can see a gunship getting shot down and a clone gunner sitting at the turret of a walker in the background, on Mygeeto you can see that the city is getting bombed like mad, some Galactic Marines troops are getting gunned down on the bridge in the wide shot, two blown up UT-ATs already on the bridge as well as what I think is the turbine from a crashed ARC-170, along with UT-ATs, troops and tri droids on the other lower bridges, on Saleucami you can see so many vehicles in the background including the AT-TE, AT-AP, UT-AT, Snail Droid and the Juggernaut tank, and on Kashyyyk in the wide shot of the battle you can see several destroyed snail droids and droid gunships getting shot down. There is such great detail in this film.
That 1st scene you mentioned also shows binary load-lifters spoken of by C-3PO in the original film.
@@Gabriel_Cook Oh yes that too.
i swear the prequel graphics team actually cared about the franchise and poured their soul into visuals. the sequels are garbage
@@simunator agreed. The snail droids are officially designated as NR-799 Persuader Tanks. I may have the numbers wrong, but it's NR-# Persuader tank. They have vocoders by the end of the war, and while all the other Droid tank units try to limit collateral damage when possible, the persuaders don't care a bit. They'll blast anything and everything, drive right through a building, whatever.
“The AT-OT is a pretty dumb idea for a walker” (All LEGO Star Wars fans disliked that)
it was made for use on republic bases
Cool set but honestly doesn’t make much sense in universe. Speeders would be better on base.
@@manutebol956 They are not meant for bases. They were made for resupply behind the battlelines. The idea is that it sacrifices the protection of the other AT-Series walkers for extra troop and cargo capacity. It is basically the Star Wars version of the Deuce and a half or similar vehicles.
@@emberfist8347 To add to this it was mostly used in situations where there was a lot of plant life that provided cover. Such as Felucia. Which also made the weapons of an AT-TE less effective. So it makes sense IMO to have an open transport and let the clone use their precise small arms.
Actually, when the first introduced MRAPs and MATVs (Mine Resistant Armor Protected) vehicles into the military, ground troops were unhappy because the windows didn't swing open like HMMWVs did. Because of the lack of openable windows they dropped the number of guns in the fight from 5 (turret + 4 crew) to 1 (turret). So yeah, they're exposed, but if they're in an ambush, that thing now has 30-40 clones firing from an elevated position, that's a LOT of laser raining down on the soon to be scrap pile that made the mistake of shooting first.
Such amazing world building in the prequel trilogy. The sequels can't even give a throwaway line to explain where the first order came from or why the new republic is so absent
They were to busy trying to distance itself from the prequels and set up the OT again.
The movies, yeah. Otherwise no in respect to the new republic.
...the prequels didn’t even tell us where the separatists came from. Same with the originals and the empire at the time, the most we got was “big bad emperor took over, and that’s all of the information you’re getting until a decade later”. Don’t throw the sequels under the bus just cos, one day, and mark my words, the sequels will be respected for the memes, just like the prequels. All 3 eras are special in their own right, none are better than the other, so I’d thank y’all to stop bringing up how much you dislike the sequels. We get it. How many other times have you posted this exact comment?
@@Legoboy55ablejust once. And no there is far more world building in the prequel but guess it just whooshed over your head. Yea the sequels have some (limited) merit but for the most part it's just terrible writing with no plan and direction. That's what you get when you get a new director that literally fucks up everything the first one sets up then get the first one back to fuck it up once again. It's a disaster in writing, yea you're fully entitled to like it and if you do that's fine by me. But don't pretend it's good writing
Edit: and yes it did tell you where they came from, in the opening crawl. But I suppose that requires reading. Yes I will admit they could of perhaps gone into some detail as to why, but it's still far more world building than the sequels
@@jcdenton7261 the sequel trilogy ruined my all time favorite star wars character they seriously fucked him up in the sequel trilogy when I heard rian Johnson was going to direct the sequel to the force awakens rian Johnson at the time only directed one movie and that movie was looper but I hated the force awakens I hated the last jedi and I seriously hated and I mean seriously hated the rise of skywalker u seriously hated the sequel trilogy I wish j j abrams never directed both films for both star wars and star trek he fucked up both star wars and star trek the character I loved that the sequel trilogy fucked up was a character I loved and admired is indeed luke skywalker they destroyed luke skywalker in the star wars sequel trilogy
Episode 3 is the most detailed movie George just used everything he had because he knew that was his last Star Wars movie
Öntas Bülent he saw it as his magnum opus. He put everything he had into it.
I really wish they had split all 3 films into 2 parts...I really liked the story but they had soooo much crammed into them that they couldn't cover everything the right way...
Pedro Kantor For me the CGI effects make it better more details make the world more realistic and it isn’t exhausting to watch today all movies use everywhere CGI but it’s your opinion and I respect that
@Pedro Kantor you see, I don't see how it was lacking in story...
@@Kolonol1 I'm against 2 part movies. i have no problem going LotR RotK route
Can we just say that his wife and all medical personnel are greater heroes then the Jedi?
Especially in 2020
I think they always have been honestly. They have always put themselves in potential danger for the sake of just regular people on a daily basis, even before covid19. They deserve every bit as much respect as any soldier on the front lines of any battle. They are on the frontlines of a battle and they do it even more than any soldier would or even could for that matter. They are true heroes in every respect!
Don't underestimate the power of the force.
Death By Design Graphics they do more than the 17 year old marine sent to Okinawa and gutted by a Japanese sword ?
Death By Design Graphics they do more than the soldiers sent to fight nazis half way across the world who drowned in their own blood after being hit by a sniper in the neck?
The Trident was gonna be a LEGO set
If only, that would be so cool.
Ah, I see that you too own the lego visual dictionary (or whatever that book is called)
That would be hype
Frost Fire beat me to it. Other than the AT-TE and ARC-170 it’s one of my favorite Clone Wars vehicles. Sadly it doesn’t get used in other media outside the one film :// it’s so cool lookin. I only had the 170 in LEGO but not the AT-TE
@@Antarcticite21 It's in several other media, from The Clone Wars show starting with either season 3 or 4, and in Battlefront II, and EA battlefront II, also the LEGO games
Finishing maternity and going back work during a pandemic... I wish her luck.
I'll join on that, hope she stays safe!
8:10 you can see the Ocuptara droid's missile goes right underneath the UT-AT, which is probably a weak spot, which is why it exploded so magnificently?
Well the thing is a mix between troop transport and a self-propelled artillery piece so the armor is thinnest on the top and bottom. The UT-AT is a alternative to walkers on bridge heavy worlds like Mygetto since the heavy weight and the repeated pounding of walkers make them prone to collapse the UT-AT by contrast uses repulsorlifts.
@@emberfist8347 and the UT stands for Unstable Terrain, where walkers would get tripped up as well. You could deploy some sort of barrier in front of the hull if you used them defensively, that could potentially block ordnance from getting under the hull like that.
@@elijahsellers3727 The Unstable Terrain is reflecting it is a repulsorlift vehicle rather than a walker. Plus Star Wars was all about having vehicles that were good at some things, but still had some flaws.
The only thing that disturbs me is that I knew about most of these.
Same, thanks purely to the tabletop minifigure games that came out around the same time as the movies. Hell, I even own several of the ships from Utapau lol. I should poke around my collection, and see if I can identify the mystery ship, since most of the background ships were made into minis.
Me too
Me too. When you play super-high-content mods for EAW there's few Vehicles you don't get to know.
I knew about all of these but the thing that disturbed me the most is that until I got the Star Wars Complete Vehicles book to realize the Recusant-class was a thing.
I knew of them, I just hadn't seen some of them in the films.
the amount of detail in ROTS is amazing, especially what they did with corusant. i wish we had an underworld tv show

Last time i was this early, the republic wasn’t corrupt yet..
So all the way back in the OLD republic? How is Revan doing!?
Spyro Frost In all seriousness though, the republic was corrupt even before order 66 (mostly due to palpatine and war profiting corporations)..

I love the background attention to detail in the prequels especially Episode III
Attention to detail is what makes AAA movies great, it sets a setting that makes it real!
The "Swamp Speeder" was also prominently featured in (I believe) several LEGO sets. I have one from the first-release-line of EP3 (
7260 Wookiee Catamaran).
Yep. It was released as it's own thing in 2009, a larger model than the 2005 one. And a mini version was in the 2014 Kashyyyk troopers battle pack.
I have the 2009 version. Which still goes for around the original MSRP on sites like Bricklink.
"It's so dense; every single frame has so many things going on."
I feel like almost all of vehicles here that I know (magna guard fighter, swamp speeder, AT-OT, platoon transport, big blue slug, small tri droid) I know from Lego or Hasbro toys haha
I knew most of them from the books like the visual dictionary.
7:44 Top 10 Pictures Taken Seconds Before Disaster
If only he had the scene before anakin slaughters children, then I could say the same thing
It’s so dense. Every single image has so many things going on.
Those films were made to last. They inspired my generation. Not cringe at all, imo: they did exactly that, featuring the decline of this idyllic perception the Republic had of itself from Episode I, yet its adaptability to a crisis such as the Clone Wars.
@@gs7828 the prequels were shit
The prequel trilogy brought so much content and world building to the Star Wars universe, unlike a certain other trilogy.
Like it’s actually a vast galaxy with all sorts of aliens and not just a bunch of humans with a few token aliens.
What other trilogy?
BrawlerAce exactly
I think he’s talking about the original trilogy
@@TheLiamster nah
I'm not embarrassed to say this, but most of this I took note of even when I was seven(when ROTS first came out). I liked Star Wars growing up, but I adored it once I seen ROTS. All of the little details like those in this video just made me fall in-love with the universe. One of the key things is that those small details makes the world/universe of Star Wars feel so much bigger - something the Sequels failed with to an embarrassing degree.
EDIT:
Beautiful video. This is easily one of my favorite channels on RUclips.... ever.
I think that is true. The sequels feel like the same plot as the original trilogy rewound and given a new coat of paint. The writers decided instead of having the New Republic actually represented as a governing body, they'd just blow up its capital system then sweep the other 19,854 systems under the rug. Cause galaxies aren't that big. At least The Last Jedi tried something different, even if it was less than well recieved. The Force Awakens is just A New New Hope; The New Version.
The Prequel Trilogy has more details and creativity than the Sequel Trilogy in my opinion.
No, that’s just fact
As a prequel, this trilogy created designs what would evolve into those we knew from original three movies.
The difference is that the ships, weapons and armor designs looked distinct rather than simply having a new paint job and a higher number.
Not to mention that the sequel films doesn’t have any distinct design style.
@@erikthomsen4768 they dont really have much in the distinctiveness department.
@Crimsoncube181
Out of curiosity: Which one of George Lucas' two design styles do you prefer?
The one from the original or the prequel trilogy?
Erik Thomsen I love both original and Prequel Trilogy design styles.

The Utapauan ships are actually in the book Star Wars Complete Vehicles. I was kind of confused about them because I didn't see them in the movie, thanks that I now know they were actually in the movie!!

Holy cow, I never realized that the AT-AP was so large in that scene, it's definatly too large, its even bigger than the AT-TE and AT-OT
Matthew C And almost as tall as the Juggernaut 😱
I think the AT-AP, is meant to be that big. Official stats put it more than double the height of the AT-TE.
@@Dark_Fusion19 hmmm interesting. Isn't it features in the clone wars TV series? I guess they got the scaling wrong on it. Or maybe I just thought it was smaller because of the Lego set
@@matth3wc Can't say i remember an AT-AP appearing in The Clone Wars. Looking at the Juggernaut for scale, it's 33 feet taller than the AT-AP.
I guess when I see 2 legged walkers I just think they're a little larger than an at-st
Eck, I love your intro and outro, they're probably my favorite of any RUclips channel.
I love watching the background of ROTS (especially the opening and battles just to see what's thrown in on the borders of a frame.
Just realized this but I wonder why we never see any different types of Protocol droids from other alien species. Like I get that humans spread far out into the galaxy but the majority of protocol droids we see are all based on human design
Lots of humanoid spicies
Petr Finifear yeah it’s not human design, but humanoid is more accurate.
A few days ago a friend and I were discussing how actually impractical 3P0’s design is for a translator. His limbs lack the dexterity for even simple sigh language, and Force forbid that he would need to speak to a race that uses extra limbs or something like Twi’lik head tails. Then the golden droid’s face is void of expression, making him un able to express some nuisance in tone or meaning of a word. Sure he might be able to speak at different tones that a human can’t speak/ hear, but that’s the only advantage I give 3P0.
your points are so valid (i think because the richest customer/companies in the galaxy are likely humanoid bipedal species( but literally if I had the money to fund a Old Republic Saga, this should be brought up, so should the planet full of Dynasaurs...
Petr Finifear Ik but you’d think that there would be different models of Protocol Droids for some races. Like you won’t see a Twe’lek version or a protocol droid nor a Skakoan version which seems kinda odd
When you’re into Lego Star Wars you notice them all the time!
I absolutely love details like this, it feels like there's always more to discover in the background, especially for the prequels. I'd love to see more videos like this for the other movies, if there's enough to talk about.
7:00 i wanna know why we never see any of those OG-9 Homing Spider droids in the clone wars
Was not expecting a Rick McCallum joke XD
We need most of these ships in Battlefront 2 and Utapau.
We don’t tho
. agree
I've noticed some of them before but your "investigation" is stunning. Thanks to your clip I've noticed another one. On Utapau, momement before Obi landed, on the left of the platform there is some kind of freighter parking there, steam is comming of the top of this ship.

#askeck where rhere rebel cells fighting the new republic after the fall of the empire (legends)? Or was every last rebel happy with the NR?
Not everyone was happy with the New Republic. Garm Bel Iblis was prominent example. The man was founding member of the Rebel Alliance, but felt Mon Mothma would be no better than Palpatine and left shortly after the Battle of Yavin, however he engaged in a private war against the Empire until he made amends during the events of the Thrawn Trilogy.

I have to say I'm quite impressed with the sheer amount of those that I definitely had never noticed before, enjoyed the heck out of this one Eck! Will mention however that I did know a bit about the P-38, mainly from reading about the Magna Droids' starfighters, but I actually found out about it when looking up some info on its likely namesake from the real world, a WW2 fighter plane the P-38 Lightning. Don't remember what exactly happened but I clicked on a Wookiepedia article instead of one pertaining to the aircraft and was a bit surprised, I also think that it's pretty likely the P-38 in Star Wars is inspired by the Lightning given their pretty similar design; central fuselage section for the pilot and twin engines to either side of it with a portion of the wings between.
Every Lego star wars fans knows about the AT-OT. The dropship set it comes with was one of the best (if not the best) sets out there. Just pure awesome.
Revenge of the sith is my number one favorite star wars movie of all time
First for me.
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p well this aged badly
Seriously though, the Sequels lacked all the eye candy, that always pulled people into Star Wars. Episode 8 started to improve, but ep 7-9 truly felt like high quality fan films- but not actual numbered films. Heck, they barely even matched the art style and feel.
I will start an argument,
STAR WARS ENDED AT EPISODE 6
Great video! Something I needed for sure never saw a lot of this stuff, hope everyone’s safe !
Eck,
I heard of the Republic speeder, AT-OT, swamp speeder, and the Republic Trident walker. The rest of the vehicles are completely new to me. Great job catching all these obscure vehicles.

How many planets were ranchors found on at the beginning of the first Galactic Civil War?!
Naturally, about three there was Dathomir there original homeworld, Cardia, and Felucia. There was also Lehon the Rakata homeworld, but the jury is out if there was any life on it by the time of the films.

The MANKVIM-814 LIGHT INTERCEPTOR was said to be a techno union ship built with materials from Utapau as a quick way to build simply designed ships to help defend it against the republic. Also just to add the creatures the clones were riding on felucia are called gelegrubs. In addition, the UT-AT "Trident" (Unstable Terrain-Artillery Transport)was a repulsorlift tank especially commissioned for mygeeto, as walkers tended to cause bridge collapses which was apparently a big problem for the republic in the campaign to conquer mygeeto.
Wow your wife is probably a hero during this time

The Shadows (Babylon 5) vs the Dominion (Star Trek DS9).
Congrats on the new kid man! Goodluck to your wife during the current pandemic. I hope she makes it home safe and contagion free. Stay safe and keep uploading amazing content. You make my quarentine that much more bearable
Awesome vid man! I had no idea about ANY of these!
#AskEck Would the Sith Empire's Harrower have made for an effective support ship to the Venator?
Not really the ship would be by comparison to the Venator old, fuel-hungry, crew intestive and obsolete in every sense of the word.
@@emberfist8347 Well, of course it would need a renovation and some automation, like any old ship would need to. But I am just talking about if it would have made for an effective screen vessel as it is, not if it is possible to employ them at all.
@@MalevolentSpirit234 They already retrofitted Acclamator-class ships to fill that role.
@@emberfist8347 I am talking if the Harrower could fulfill the role with all the weaponry it has. Not the best ship for the role.

Thank you for making this video, because so many people used to, and still do rip about how the CGI in the prequels didnt do anything and made the movies look worse, this video proves them wrong in so many different ways, I also learned a lot from this video, its cool learning about new ships from older movies.
Great video! Very interesting concepts.

ROTS is so underrated
I'm just flabbergasted on how many ships/fighters I didn't even know existed from these backgrounds. I love the ships of the Star Wars universe, their designs are so cool and unique.
I actually knew about the swamp speeder quite well. But only because they made a lego set including it, came with green clone troopers which was very cool.
How dare u Eck, hate on my AT-OT, anybody who ever served in the armed forces, has had to sit in a open topped truck... Sure u shouldn’t be riding in one anywhere near the frontline, but it beats walking & at least the AT-OTprovide some cover, just keep your head down 😅.. I’m sure the bois in the 182nd legion who were all killed by Felucian wildlife wished they had the OTs to fight off those Acklays..
They were 182nd they were 327th Star Corps.
Blake Tyson the 327th arrived after, I’m referencing the old Star War Battlefront 2 game, where the 182nd were all killed, the 501st were sent in to investigate & after the 501st pulled out, the 327th take over all combat operations on felucia..

rly liked this type of video, would love to see more
There's sooooo much to see in the Star Wars movies! I'd love to see close ups of all of those rebel ships in the background at the end of ESB.
I've had some of these as LEGO sets, really cool seeing them here
Anyone ever noticed when Anakin and Obi-Wan talk to each other the last time before Obi-Wan goes to Utapau and Anakin turns, we can see a clone trooper behind them doing weird gestures while talking to another Clone Trooper. Always kinda cracks me up honestly xD
This is why revenge of the sith is my favorite movie of them all, it has some of the best battle scenes, couracant rivals rouge one in the space battle arena, and I could pick so many ground battles from this movie and dissect how they are great
Hey 👋!! Bless you and your family!! That’s really good considering all the shit that’s hit the fan. I’m happy that there’s some GOOD news. Lots of love. Thanks again for your show and commentary. You rock, keep it going 👍
great video as always!
I saw a lot of interesting ship missed and keep up the good work and stay safe guys
The utapau version of the magnagaurd fighter gets a whole 2 pages in the ROTS cross sections book. I always wondered what it was about.
Also, I hadn’t noticed very many of these at all. Very cool new series!
The Swamp Speeder was one of the first obscure Star Wars vehicles I was excited to find because I had the classic Lego Star Wars: Visual Dictionary (the one with darth vader on the front with the old styled helmet, where the newest sets were TCW and EU stuff), and one of the sets Lego released in conjunction with RoTS was that infantry support platform, along with the Juggernaut and AT-AP.
I remember loving the design and being so obsessed with looking for it (despite not actually having access to RoTS at all back in those days). Eventually I was able to watch the movie again like a year and a half later and funnily enough, I first noticed it on Felucia (even though the Lego SW Dictionary actually says you can see it on Kashyyyk lmao).
i like that some of these vehicles have existed in lego for a while despite literally being on screen for about 3 seconds. most notably i’d say is the AT-OT - there’s an older set which consists of an AT-OT and some variant of the LA/AT which now sells for upwards of £2000. also, that small droid carrier on Kashyyyk and Naboo - there’s definitely been at least one set focused on that, generally useful as a relatively cheap way to get a large quantity of battle droids
I've always loved that you can see the millennium falcon arriving at the senate building at the beginning after Palpatine is rescued.
*it's docking a platform or 2 below the transport Obi-Wan and Anakin are on.
Hey an interesting fact about CGI in movies: ships and stuff are designed by concept artists, modeled, animated, composited, and rendered. When you said ships are fully rendered I think you meant modeled. Modeling is where the ships are built in 3D software like Autodesk or Cinema 4D and animation is where the movement is added. Compositing is where the model is added into the scene and rendering is the final step where giant computers calculate physics, light, textures, and a lot of other little details like simulations and ray tracing to make it took realistic. Sorry if this came off as sounding critical. Loved the video!
The first ship (and last vehicle, i think) you mentioned is/are shown in the Ep3 artbook. i still go through till this day. salivating over the awesome designs.
Congrats on the kid. Hope you and your wife especially stays safe, I work in a hospital too.
Love your videos as always.
Masses of respect and praise to your wife going back to work during this pandemic after maternity! Thanks for all your videos during this time as well!
This was a great episode you should really do a series on hidden ships
I think the UT-AT would’ve been great to see in Rogue One on Scariff, being able to speed around over the water between the islands. Makes more sense than a lumbering AT-AT which was only in for nostalgia.
Could not agree more about ROTS, and the lack of Clone Wars variety. I know TCW is more of kids cartoon, but I always imagined a much larger and more devastating conflict. Would of have loved to see more stuff from Legends, like larger non-Clone planetary navies and armies involved, more variety with regards to ship and vehicle design, and different clone templates.
Well the thing is most of the planets had their planetary defense forces already defeated by the time the Republic arrived. The GAR was like the Imperial Army form Warhammer 40K they are sent in when Planetary Security Forces can't deal with the Separatist.
@@emberfist8347 yeah I can see that happening for sure, but was hoping some of the Core worlds and other important worlds would pack more punch like Kuat, Corellia, Rendili, Alsakan etc...
@@darthscott616 Well we don't see those worlds being battlefields the closest are Rindo Val and Anaxes which are Republic aligned shipyards so the Republic Fleet are supplementing the ships defense fleets.
@@emberfist8347 true, just wish it was Legends Anaxes instead, "Defender of the Core"

Magnaguard fighter is an awesome ship for a legoset and one of the first I had as a kid. I like how e.g. lego or ffg xwing include these obscure ships/vehicles sometimes

The reason the trident existed is because in one of the battles, republic walkers were to heavy and each step destabilized the bridge they were on, causing it to collapse.
Lol why is that intro so Nostalgic all of a sudden?!?
