EckhartsLadder Hey Eck. Brad here. I was able to find your Discord Server on Discord. Hope I’ll be able to share my thoughts and all related to Star Wars. I hope I did it right.
EckhartsLadder How do Jedi or force sensitives deal with great disturbances in the force? Such as experiencing or feeling the deaths of billions like you stated in the video. As you would think that experiencing something like that could be traumatic, especially for someone who’s never experienced such a thing.

*"Word of the Terrible Glare reached our ears from Rur’s second-in-command, Alquist. He came to Coruscant, claiming things had gotten out of control on Garn, that… demonic entities were escaping through the gate. The Vindicators were given permission to go to Garn to arrest Rur and his followers.*
*It was a trap, a deception to lure the Vindicators there. They suspected this and went anyway, anxious for a fight. Yet, Alquist had not lied. There were, in fact, entities on Garn that no citizen of the Republic had ever before seen. The things of children’s stories, dismissed so readily by adults, proved to be as real and terrifying as once imagined!*
*A new war had begun. United by a banner of resentment and hate, the Order of the Terrible Glare learned to use their combined powers to create vast Shadow Domes, great pockets of darkness blotting out the light side of the Force for miles around. Within these vaulted canopies, defiled towers had been erected, and into them loathsome forms had come to dwell. Rur had crossed a line from which he could never return. Once he had warned us of nameless beings seeking to come from beyond; now he welcomed them! Through proscribed rites and caliginous lore, he and his followers were taught shadow powers by shadow beings from an outside realm. The whisperings of the Rozzum, those atavistic, abhorrent armies of pale squirmers and unmentionable things had seduced and corrupted his mind. Other beings were reported too, horrific winged, biting creatures out of dark legend that roared and chanted incessantly to their obscene, lost gods. But the Rozzum did the bidding of the Shamans, for they were trained to hunt down, slay and devour Jedi in preparation for the greater war to come.*
*The Vindicators had been too proud and arrogant to think they could be defeated, convinced as they were that the light was on their side, forgetting that the Force sides with life, not with armies. Into the ghoul-haunted lands of the Shadow Domes the Vindicators were lured and there they were met with a flood of consuming hatred emanating from the tenebrous armies of the Order. It was then that the Shamans sprang the soul-snares, ancient crystal prisms with the power to transfer the mind and life-essence of a Jedi, ripping it from the destroyed body and imprisoning it. But it was the way in which Rur procured them that froze the Vindicators’ blood, for the soul-snares were not simply discovered or made. They were brought through the dark threshold as gifts!"*

I imagine obi-wan upon senseing order 66 just floated in the water at the bottom of the pit, lost in what he was feeling, barely even noticing what was going on around him. Only avoiding drowning through sheer willpower and the sounds of the battle raging above tearing him away from what he was feeling.
He didn't seem to be aware when he contacted (whoever it was) and said that his clones had turned on him. He didn't even realize it was happening anywhere else.
@@Balizaharee your comment adds to the point that I was just considering when mentioned Obi-Wan's sensing the disturbance of Order-66. It must be considered, for one, that Yoda is one of, if not the most, force sensitive Jedi in the Galaxy. In fact, it has often be emphasized how closely related his (unknown) species is to the living force. Two, when Order-66 is given, Yoda is high upon a look-out/observation post, in relative safety (surrounded by only two clones and two wookies.) Comparatively, the other Jedi shown, including Obi-Wan, were active in battles on the front lines, surrounded by clones, as field General Jedi typically were. The Jedi in the midst of battle, with the feelings of clone troopers and others, whom are dying around the Jedi in large numbers already, for these Jedi, noticing a difference would probably be unlikely. Even if they did notice any difference, the battle around them would prioritize their focus to the battle, making the fighting Jedi unable to analyze the actual cause of the added disturbance and react accordingly.
If you think back to the clone wars series as well, Yoda went into the Bacta tank to talk to Qui Gon he was able to communicate with the Force more openly. I imagine almost a similar effect Obi Wan could have experienced while floating in the water and Order 66 taking place at the same time. While it can’t be “proved” in reality, I really enjoyed your comment and different insight into that moment with Obi.
I’m pretty sure I saw on one of Ek’s videos that obi wan was the least force sensitive.
damn
Kreia wasn't talking shit when she said echoes could wipe out force users if they're big enough
I haven’t played KOTOR 2 in years, but isn’t that the whole idea of Nihilus’ character: to feed off of the immense emotional and spiritual suffering of force sensitives when these disturbances are created? Imagine the pain Atris and the other surviving masters felt when he killed all of the miraluka and assembled jedi.
@@wt4629 Not the emotion. Darth Nihilus feeds on the force itself, the life force of all living things. He eats their very essence as the lord of Hunger. If your a Warhammer fan think of Slaanesh and the Alderi or demons in general and force users are specially appetizing. To Nihilus the planet of Katar and the Jedi assembly was to Nihilus as several craft worlds to Slaaneshi demons.

A good depiction of "supernatural reconnaissance powers damaging the user's psyche after a gruesome battle" is in the Marineford arc of One Piece.
In it, one of the main characters for the arc is a young man who has been rapidly rising up the ranks of the Navy/Marines recently, only to have one of his first live combat experiences be a massive war against a legendary pirate crew. As the war goes on, he sees both sides losing their humanity in their desire to "win the war". By the later stages of the arc, the young Marine's experiences at Marineford awaken a supernatural power within him: "Observation Haki", or "the ability to innately perceive the finer details of the world around you from a distance", as represented by "the young Marine hearing the pleas of the injured/dying on both sides of the war".
The shock from hearing the near-constant screams of agony drives the young Marine to stand in front of the most bloodthirsty Admiral and demand a quick and peaceful end to the fighting. That act of defiance is enough to nearly earn the young Marine an on-the-spot death sentence, only being saved by the timely intervention of a second legendary pirate crew acting as mediators.

Definitely. Although I think those who could sense the disturbance wouldn’t feel the pain of those who died unlike Alderaan or Order 66, since it looked like those who were snapped just faded away without pain.
Dylan Gilmour What about psychological pain? Strong emotions can activate the pain centers of the brain.

What do you think was the worst disturbance to feel: Order 66 or the destruction of Alderaan?
I vote for Order 66. All those Jedi were Force-sensitive, meaning they were more connected to the Force than others and their sudden deaths would have had a greater impact on it.
I'd argue Alderaan except for on exception, the Jedi who died in order 66 where trained warriors on a battlefield, they were prepaired for death. The exception being if you where on Coruscant during the attack on the Jedi temple, this would have been the worst possible Disturbance to feel all those Younglings and Padawan's, all the Non-Combatant Jedi Scientists, Healers, and Historians... and the sheer proximity, it would have been impossible withstand.
@@patrickbuckley7259 Oh I didn't consider the non combatant force users, that would be heart crushing to feel
@@maxxor-overworldhero6730 I think your referancing Miralukans at the Jedi Temple, but...
Oh damn, the destruction of the Miralukan home world would have been horrific too, hell that was an act commited with the use of the force itself, on an entire race of Force Sensitives...
That's like Alderaan x20...
Imagine how Meetra Surik felt.
Thank you for covering this topic!
The Jedi often rubbed me as very cold and unemotional to the point where it feels emotionally unhealthy. But after this description of how sensitive one becomes when one is tapping into the Force, I guess that such strict Jedi indoctrination of self-discipline is perhaps a necessity. It's more of a coping mechanism with very real, practical application than just mere philosophy.
That is also why the Dark Side is so "seductive" (although now that term doesn't feel right), because when one feels the ripple-waves of the painful from across the universe one might just tend to be susceptible to fear, to anger, to hate, to suffering.
Yet again, perhaps this is where the seduction comes from: the realization that there is potential power in giving in to these negative feelings.

I've never touched Legends before, but after many of your videos I'm starting to question that decision. Should I give Legend stories a try?
Pick any book that catches your fancy really, it's a question where to start but what do you like.
Most definitely. There is some good stories and some of them can be the best star wars stories. Just be aware there is some wacky ones though, but there is some really good stories like the legacy era or the old republic era
For anything that's before the prequels Legends is THE true version of events, it lines up perfectly with the movies, I recommend checking out the era of the great Sith wars, especially the story of Darth Revan, its arguably better than the movies, though anything after return of the Jedi isn't that great but its definitely better than Disney's cash grab version which as far as I'm concerned isn't canon.

@@weberman173 never said I liked it happening in legends
A part of me hopes that the new trilogy will be discarded as non canon, but the realist in me knows that will never happen.
@@maenethal6559 part of me hopes that this time it will have good writers and storytelling.
There was so much potential in the new sequel trilogy even within the movies in their curent form, it could have been good. It just wasnt allowed to really happen.
Certainly lazy writing.
Why would they not canonise certain things? Something I've never gotten is why they don't just bring everything that doesn't conflict with their current story over. My friend got into star wars recently and he was very confused between legends and canon. It just sounds dumb on the part of Disney, they have to do less writing, no?
It's because those who wanted to see Legends gone would have to admit that they couldn't do better, and their hubris won't allow that. On top of that, their own canon would be gone in turn as everything it's been built on is counterproductive to the ideas of star wars.
Unless Disney canon contradicts something you can assume details like this one on feeling a disturbance in the form.
@Mark Zimmardi
Most active movements like Twin Suns are okay with the two timelines co-existing, and with Disney's timeline being canon. The vast majority of EU fans just prefer Legends to be the official canon, because it is much less contradictory to the film's and not nearly as pandering.
@Mark Zimmardi
Did I not say that most don't care what's canon as long as both timelines are covered and expanded?
Disney canon is canon. They own Star Wars. Until they contradict something from Legends, everything from Legends is still canon

At least in Legends, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luminara Unduli and Barris Offee were on the planet Ansion in an attempt to prevent it from leaving the Republic. This was covered in the novel *The Approaching Storm* .
As the Separatist Crisis escalated, the Commerce Guild and the CIS were adding planets to their cause.
Eventually, Ansion became a target because it was the linchpin of a complicated series of treaties and alliances that bound together other planets of greater importance. Ansion's secession from the Republic would've caused a chain reaction that threatened to rip from the Republic a plethora of worlds in 40 or more alliance-entwined star systems.

For me, the Jedi Academy trilogy was the best story in the expanded universe, it felt more like Star Wars than the Thrawn trilogy.
I really like this video, it adds a lot of context to a disturbance. Like Meetra Sutrix had to cut herself off from the force because just to save herself.
I love these meta-philosophy videos just as much as the more pragmatic videos about ship, species, etc.
Something I think could be fun is a breakdown of ship architecture from the Old Republic Era to the Imperial Era and some conjecture about what we might see in the upcoming High Republic stuff.
I have to be honest, no wonder Disney got rid of Legends, most of the stories that they rewrote/got rid of were incredibly horrifying in terms of how graphic the stories. Not exactly a family friendly thing. But I still love Legends more than anything and will continue not liking Disney for what they did.
I get your point, but technically Star Wars was always horrifying, quite brutal and not exactly kids friendly.
I mean, the very first thing we have seen from the SW universe was a man in black massacring a whole ship crew and strangling people with his mind, which he then makes a habit off. And from then on?
A young woman being tortured. A smuggler shooting a living being in a bar like it was nothing. A mans arm being cut off. Lukes parents being reduced to smouldering, burned bodies. A whole planet with billions of people being blown apart. Stormtroopers getting shot and killed galore. People being tortured and thrown into a terrifying mouth in the ground. Cute little teddies being shred to pieces by imperial weapons. Stormtroopers smashing into trees and Stormtroopers getting crushed by giant tree trunks. Giant walkers stepping on ships with people in it. A space station with hundrets of thousands of soldiers on it getting vaporised. Animals being gutted and used as shelter. People getting eaten by Rankors. Luke getting his hand cut off. Luke seeing his father die.
Most of the people getting slaughtered being supposed to be the bad guys or all of this being told in a happy-go-lucky way does still not make it exactly kid friendly, I'd say.
Furzkampfbomber Yeah and plus most Disney movies can be pretty fucking dark and grim at times so I don’t really get why they feel the need to sanitize the EU.
@@spacemarinechaplain9367 Most Disney movies are utterly fucked up, when you look at them from a grown-ups perspective.

'Dumbo' - disfigured kid is harassed so much that his mother snaps and is thrown into solidary confinement. When he discovers special powers, everyone suddenly wants to be his friend - because they can make a profit with him.
'Frozen' - Well, when our little princess accidentally freezes her kingdom in the middle of summer, she probably killed most of her countries eco system and also doomed most of their population to a starve to death.
'Lion King' - Asshole of a king arbitrarily dooms the hyenas to a death of starvation, because... reasons, I guess? When the hyenas stage a coup out of sheer desparation, they are labelled the enemy again. (Kind of reminds me of what Stalin did with the ukrainians, to be honest.)

Here's an idea:
Could Darth Nihilus survive Warhammer 40K?
Probably. He is a living exterminatus so there is for the physical but for the metaphysical it would be interesting. Would the dark gods be interested in a being so leathal that worlds die at his hunger's whim? Would slaanesh promise him all the souls he could devour in exchange for his devotion? Would some one that is basically no longer truly physical be of interest to the darl gods' recruitment? Would he be an alpha+ psycher anomaly if he went to the 40k universe? Perhaps those questions are the important.

The last time I was this early, the younglings were still alive.
"oooooh the Jedis are going to feel this one!" Hubert J. Farnsworth
I grew up on the extended universe - I had a TON of the extended universe audiobooks on cassette tape!! They are and always will be a treasure. I am REALLY hoping that they bring Mara Jade back - even as a 'Star Wars Story' because shes SUCH a cool character!
Man, this video reminded me why I loved star wars, ever since I've felt like the franchise has lost its essence, its meaning, things only happen for no reason when there used to be a connection between everything.
lol, the EU is still canon to me, so all this sounds incredibly intriguing.
Also wonderful confirmation! It was only yesterday that I wrote a scene in my story where a survivor of Order 66 pretty much goes through what you explained, even though I was unaware of these stories. Really helps put things into perspective.
Also, also. When Obi-wan felt the 'disturbance' with Alderaan's destruction, is it possible that he didn't feel the full effect of it because he was travelling through hyperspace at the time? Perhaps there's something to be said about how hyperspace does effect one's connection to the Force and that was Kenobi's saving grace, not knowing where the disturbance was coming from as he was moving too quickly to absorb the worst of the moment.
read and loved I, Jedi
such a good book, such a great character because he just such an interesting viewpoint so different from all the other usual protagonists.
How would Palpatine right after Phantom Menace do in the Warhammer 40k universe? Would he be able to achieve a position of power through either his political skill or for be powers? Or would he be destroyed easily since the Warhammer universe is so much stronger than the Star Wars universe? #askeck
I think commissar Gamza did a video of this.
Palpatine would look like an unruly schoolboy in comparison with the most tame and boring of the Dark Eldar. I guess he _might_ be able to achieve quite some power at first, considering that he would be able to impress people with his force tricks and considering that he was quite the political genius, but that would also make him a target quite fast. And there are forces in the Wh40k universe that would just wipe the floor with him.
Of course it would be quite possible that he would associate himself with Chaos, but that would also mean losing in the end, since so far the Chaos gods have screwed pretty much everyone.
Furzkampfbomber Outside of the star wars universe he wouldn’t have any connection to the force, but... he might be able to form a connection to the warp instead. Which could powerscale him to his new universe.
@@j2dragon109 I was assuming that he somehow still has access to the Force. In case he has not, he would just be like a bazillion other humans, being a political genius or not.
I think if this was the case, his success would be more dependent from his starting point than from his actualy skills. I mean, how many genius minds are wasted in the Empire every day, just because they were born in, for example, some hell of underhive and the Empire just does not give a fuck, because there are still millions more like them?
And in case he would have a good starting point, by magically becoming a planetary governor or member of some powerful noble house for instance, he would still be like hundrets of thousands, probably millions of others. Also, being in such a position and messing around with Chaos could easily wake the interest of the Inquisition and I am pretty sure his chances to survice that are not that good. I mean, in the worst case Exterminatus is a thing and I have my doubts he could deal with that.
Apart from that, if his mind would really be the only advantage he would get, then there are lots of humans alone that are a lot more brilliant than him, let alone beings like Primarchs or certain xenos.
If you take the force away from Palpatine, then he would be nothing more than one insignificant human being amongst bazillions of them that live in the Wh40k universe.
Furzkampfbomber It’s a fair assumption to make. My main point was that he could possibly use his knowledge of how to use the force to help him understand the warp. I don’t know how likely that is as I am not that well versed in 40k lore.
I got a pampers diapers ad seconds after you mentioned the baby Jedi twins. Lol
The JFO glitch takes me back to the Jar Jar flying glitch in tcs for the DS
Lmao
You have to imagine obiwan was probably underwater when order 66 hit him in the force. He fell into that lake when cody shot im down. It probably made him DAMN NEAR DROWN omg. Fuck thats terrifying
It requires a huge amount of resolve and mental strenght to recover from such an experience, specially when you just felt all the people that you knew, trained and cared for being killed in cold blood, all at the same time. This just elevates how great of a Jedi both Yoda and Obi-Wan were, going to face the orchestrator of everything at the peak of his power, Palpatine, and his former friend and brother who fulfilled the deed, Anakin.
PS: it would've been cool if Ahsoka also felt Anakin's defeat at Mustafar, an echo of "You were the Chosen One" or "I hate you".
I’ve never been an SW fan, but always was just a tad curious about its lore. This video makes me wanna start digging in. Idk where to start though.

#2: A Disturbance in the Force
#3: Rewatching 'ARC Troopers'
#4 Anything part of Disney "canon"
I read I,Jedi! It was a great read and I miss the legends universe books that were all struck from canon and hope that they bring in more material from it
First Dan Carlin Hardcore History crossover episode...good stuff!
This is a good video, I always wondered this question
Nice justification for the goodness of the Jedi. Liked this video
This really fleshes out why Jedi don't kill prisoners and why they don't form attachments & try to be selfless. Imagine if a Jedi had an deep attachment on Alderaan when that happened? That hollow feeling of losing a friend mixing with the billions of deaths? Truly dark and terrible. If it didn't turn Jedi to the dark side, it might make them crazy, suicidal, or otherwise die of that feeling. Truly deep and scary...thanks for the video on it! Lolz
I’ve got a video idea: Godzilla earth vs 7x imperial 2-class star destroyers (in standard atmosphere)
Some stats:
Height: 300 meters Weight:100,000 tons
-Has a shield which covers his entire body and no man made weapon can break through it
-Atomic bean can reach into space
-Can survive a one hundred and fifty, 21 kiloton nuclear bomb strike, and he’s personal shield didn’t even go down
-Was buried under the Himalayas, and used his atomic beam to melt the entire mountain range down
-Atomic beam can easily cut through almost every material known to man
-Due to his attacks the population of earth was reduced to about 522 million

YES YES YEEEEEEEES YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAS COME TO PAPA

Wow it's been years since I read "I, Jedi". Got to go reread it bc I love Corran and Mirax
Those feelings must be terrifying
That thumbnail is terrifying
I listened to i-Jedi on audio book on YT before they went Jack boot on everyone. It was good.
Imagine what Yoda felt, having known everyone that died during order 66. Damn.
