- This video provides a detailed review of the new NorseBoat 17.5 Classic sailing and rowing boat, and the boat shop on Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada where they are built. The NorseBoat 17.5 trailer sailor has classic lines and high performance, and it has earned the reputation of the Swiss army knife of boats!
I'm on the build list for hull 156 and looking forward to the day I pick it up. . . . My brother-in-law has been an active small-boat sailor, dingy cruiser, and boat builder for years. He knows NorseBoats and enthusiastically applauded my decision to purchase a NorseBoat 17.5 Classic.
Hi, my name is John Hopkins. I recently made this video for Norseboat and Kevin Jeffrey. After filming at this shop and learning all about Norseboats and their incredible innovative features, sheer handmade craftsmanship, and the immense amount of thought that goes into every part of this incredible line of sailboats, owning one is now on my bucket list now! And on the water, it is exhilarating. The quickness of this boat is very impressive as well as its ability to turn on a dime. I should have charged more and put a deposit down. Ugh!
It’s funny that you say you wish that you had put a deposit down. I make videos too and I was thinking the same thing.
I love the combination of modern composites with classic lines. This is a boat I would be proud to own.
Your 17.5 stirred something in me, been looking at lots of small trailerable sailboats and I love yours over all I 've seen.
At the time I wanted mine there were just none (used) available in the U.S.
So I bought mine through Kevin. Drove to Nova Scotia to pick it up and met Kevin on PEI to get the documents for "import".
I just finished making new canvas for her, VäderÖga, WeatherEye.
Pulled up to a boat manufacturer in Chattanooga, TN. to arrange for lessons. (They make the McLaughlin "Optimist") One of the managers looking out the window, excitedly rushed out... "Is that a NorseBoat?! I have always wanted to see one in person! I've read all about them in technical journals!"
My Norseboat ALWAYS gets rave comments for her beautiful lines!
My compliments on such a well-designed and functional boat. This looks like a great alternative for a two person crew. I would have a small engine for the 17.5 as rowing seems a bit of a challenge for a boat of this weight.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE by Norseboat 17.5 and Kevin is everything he represents here, too.
I get CONSTANT COMMENTS on how beautiful she is!
I recently sold a boat to someone who had owned a Norseboat 17.5 in the past (Patrick Connor, he bought one from a doctor in Florida who had never used it). He had nothing but good things to say about the Norseboat. I do keep checking your Brokerage page. :)
Greetings Kevin,
I love my 17.5
VäderÖga WeatherEye
I spend all of my time now doing canvas for others but I am finishing my own camper top, Finally!
It would be great to have a rigging video!
Beautiful dream boat.
Perfect day sailor
A very beautiful little ship. Would it be possible to see the 17.5 somewhere in (or near) the Netherlands?
Beautifully designed boats. I have to test sail the 12.5 and the 17.5. I am looking for a camp cruiser that I can also use for impromptu rowing (fly fishing) and sailing. The lines are awesome! Is there someone on the east coast with whom I can go sailing?
Can you cargo a 21 ft to Thailand? How much, approx. Thanks
What if it capsizes? Can one man right it again?
If only I had money...
I bet they are Expensive!
Well, they aren't inexpensive, but that is relative. You can go to the website and download the price sheet. However, because it is trailerable, you don't have to pay to have the boat hoisted into and out of the water; you don't have to pay for a slip or mooring, or winter storage. Since it is a sailing and rowing boat, you save on fuel, etc. The point is it is cheaper to own than many other boats. Consider how many boat designs are out there. The NorseBoat has won Boat of the Year honors two or three times; it was selected not once but twice to sail the Northwest Passage; and it twice won the Everglades Challenge -- once in class and once overall. The NorseBoat is no pushover -- and it's beautiful to boot. Oh, and I know folks that have a fishing boat, and a sailboat, and canoe, etc. The NorseBoat is so versatile you don't have to buy multiple boats.
