    My eyes are prone to stye and it has been my biggest problem because it caused me multiple stye scars on my eyelids. I started doing warm compress this week twice a day (morning and night). My eyes are feeling great right after sessions. Hope this prevents me from ever having a stye again :) Thank you for this very informative!

    Hello from Canada, Thank you for an informative and very clearly expressed video on the use of the heat compress for the eyes. Great tip about the foggy part. I massaged as suggested and all I can say is wow. It works. No more foggy eyes after 5-10 mins after the heat compress for 6 mins the first time. I will continue adding to this comment a week from now . I am sure my dry eye problem will be fine. I have both narrow angle and wide angle glaucoma and the eyes get pretty dry. So my fabulous optometrist asked me to use this compress. thks to youtube this doc covered it laced with much needed humor. rhks for the video and the good tips

    Very well done, entertaining and informative. Will be sure to watch more videos from true Focus. Dr. Shenai, will this help minimize the need to use Restasis?

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  4 года назад +1

      Great question!! This would be the first like of defense for dry eyes. After that we try drops, and then short term steroid treatments. If all these still don't work, then we try Restasis. But if you are already on Restasis, the warm compresses will still help!

      Some people do need to be on artificial tears for long term use, but I am always going to be an advocate of trying to keep the treatment natural. So I'd always recommend the warm compresses, omega 6, and staying hydrated. Something you may also want to look into would be testing your binocular alignment. Look into NeuroLens. You may have an eye doctor in your area that can test this for you, and see if this might help as well.

    Hi i am suffering from recurrent corneal erosion for about a year now . Do u think using this before bed time can help me prevent getting an erosion .

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  2 года назад +1

      It can't hurt, but your doctor may have prescribed you some hyperosmotic drops or ointment to take regularly. That is one of the best ways to prevent future erosions. Hope this helps.

That's why I am trying to find another ways to prevent future erosions. Btw thanks a lot for replying .

    I started using hot compress for my dry eyes (recommended from my optometrist to unclog the glands), my eyes do get a bit red after and was wondering if that was normal ? I 'm guessing it's because of the heat but I wanted to make sure it wasn't make eyes worse. Thank you !

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад +4

      The heat can make the eyes slightly red due to increased blood flow to the area, but I've also had patients who had sensitivity to their laudry detergent or softeners that remain on the towel that they use, then their eyes get red when they press it to their eyelids. I really do like the masks that you just put in the microwave with the self-hydrating beads. You don't have to worry about water at all. Just make sure that you hand wash the provided cover when needed.

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад

      @@eScential Since I can't see your eyes, I'd recommend that you check with your eye doctor. But if my patients are experiencing dryness with the baby shampoo and water, I recommend using more water than shampoo since too much baby shampoo can cause some dryness. You can also find OTC lid wipes that work well also.

    I have a stye (just got it. Couple of days ago , it seems to be turning to a cyst/chalazion). The warm compress seems to be making it worse or not really helping. The bump is still tender. I have been taking cephalaxin and the pain is subsiding but the bump is still present. Should I stop the warm compress or continue? I’m afraid if I don’t do it the lump will be permanent and turn into a chalazion.

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад +1

      Becuase you are on an antibiotic to help with the bacteria side, you should most definitely keep up with the warm compresses to prevent the blocked oil turning into a permanent cyst. The key steps is to first make sure it is truly a stye (best to see an eye doctor to confirm), start antibiotics, then warm compress and message it till it is gone.

      You do need to be careful if you have Keratoconus. Heavy rubbing can progress Keratoconus, but a gental message is fine!

      Ugh! I was trying my best not to use the word... MOIST!! LOL, thank you, Dr. Tyler. I notice the blur when I've waited too long to get the compresses on my eyes. It was pretty nerve racking when I first did it and everything was blurry. I thought I did something very wrong. Then later learned in Optometry school that it was becuase I very much needed this task in my life!!

    I have a corneal condition in my right eye caused by a epiretinal membrane making my vision potential correction 20/30. apparently, its a fold in the retina on the back wall though sounds small at this time but noteworthy for risk potentials during surgery. this may be two separate issues but on the same paper so I assume the same thing. So warm compresses ok with this or do I need doctor approval?

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад

      Epiretinal membranes have no effect on the cornea, but depending on your corneal condition, warm compresses may need to be approved. Definitely call your cataract surgeon, and make sure this okay with them. And you are correct, epiretinal membranes are a potential risk during cataract surgery. The surgeon will keep this is mind of this is known before the surgery. All I can say is that cataract surgery will need to be done eventually, and you will always be able to find issues that you will make you nervous. But I will tell you, 98% of my patients after surgery are so happy they got it done and wonder why they waited so long. You got this!!

    The washcloth gets cool very rapidly. It certainly doesn't remain warm for 5 to 10 minutes. So, what then?

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  2 года назад

      Not even close. Wash cloths may give you about 3-4 minutes, but if you need longer time, then a self hydrating mask is what you are looking for. I have the link to the mask that I use in the show description.
