The best video I viewed about building a dog house. I liked your build approach and the details that you provided.
Glad you enjoyed it
Dog house looks good; Ruger needs his name on a sign above the door.
Your ahead of me, that's a for sure laser project I'm thinking of.
Nice doghouse build, but let's be honest, that Ruger is going to end up sleeping inside on a nice big, lush doggy bed before you know it. If not on your bed. What a cool pup.
He is cool
That puppy is going to need a solar powered, thermostatically controlled ventilation fan -- another fun project!
Hi, Andrew! Love your construction videos. Ruger is very chill.
He's awesome!
He is so cute. Great dog house.
Thank you
That dog is going to have the best life on your property!
I think so too
What a great idea. I built an insulated doghouse with a removeable roof. Never thought of this. It's a much, much better idea.
Glad you enjoyed it
Add a overhang on front. Great job!
That's definitely on my to do list. There is a roof overhead on the kennel for now.
Great video! Very thorough without too much dead space. I love the fold down option, good thinking!
Thank you for watching
Good looking doghouse
Thanks
Very nice, to bad u don't put a little window in it to.🤗😍
Nice dog house, but you need to make plextis type glass windows for it to match the house and you can look into it without disturbing the dog anytime 😊.
Awesome
I love that build. For now you could paint a white trim around the door for now until he grows up and you can put the PVC trim.
Clark & Deborah:
Great Video & Awesome Build 👌 👏 👍
Thank you
flip the sheet of tin over so instead of shifting the drill down to go over the bump you lift the drill up to go through the valley. Also, I suggest a remnant piece if linoleum flooring under the dog bed sorta like a dish so and liquid wont make it to the plywood.
Great tips, thanks!
That dog is going to have the best looking dog house in the state! You did an awesome job building it, but you always do awesome work on anything you build. I think he will really enjoy his house. 😀👍💙
Ruger
@@Zeppy007 I tried to put in the dogs name and spell check kept changing it so after 3 tries I gave up and put that dog in the comment! I love the dogs name, fit him perfectly!
Don't even have a dog, nor wanting a dog, but loved every minute. Great job Andrew!
Thank you for watching
Great job! I would paint the inside bottom, bed area. This would allow for better cleanup. Even a treated wood will absorb liquids. Over time those liquids make smells. A painted surface you can wipe clean. Which it sounds like you like. Again great job. 😊
I agree
Wow now that's a dog house! Plenty of room for you and Ruger when y'all get in the" Dog House" with Tiffany. Lol. Also thought I would mention you can go online to a reptile store and find a nice heat pad that could lay on the floor for winter. Just an idea. I use them and they work great. They have thermostats and timers. Ruger is a lucky pup to have a great family.
Are they chew proof?
@@TKCL I put my under a bit of a sub floor. Didn't have any issues.
You should put a block on the back so it don't damage the roof when you tip it. And screen to keep wasps out
There's a big open doorway, the screen up top won't stop entry there.
WOW! Beautiful doghouse for Ruger.
Thank you
Ruger is one lucky dog! I love his house, and like that it's hinged at the bottom rather than the roof. Much easier access to clean, etc. Ruger is so layed back, and so chilled!! With all the love, and proper training he'll be getting, I'm looking forward to seeing all the good times you all with be having together. ❤
Thank you for watching
Awesome job Andrew!
Thank you
Rugers house looks amazing.🤩
Thank you
Always set up a dog house on a plastic pallet… so dog house floor not in contact with hot or cold dirt… also easy to lift pallet and put down ant poison so pet not get into the poison
In contact with dirt? His floor is 3.5 inches above the dirt.
@@TKCL my reply is meant for others building a dog house. Air space below floor… I have seen careless people leave out the floor and sit the house on a concrete pad…just inhumane
Ahhh I see
I used to build a flip open top well house. That way every time we needed to get to the well, change leather's, switches or make it deeper throughout the years. That should work for a doghouse too.
Well your in luck, I've got a similar design in mind I've been planning for over a year. I'll build it this winter or next spring.
So I have a couple of suggestions for this, I would go to a junk yard and get the lift springs for hoods/trunk for only a couple dollars to open this and close easily and safely and also something to actually grab to open and close. What happens if u are out and Tiffany has to do this and she gets hurt having to lift it open or close it and she hurts herself or it lands on her feet.
I am so glad you recommend this also!!! I felt like if he thought it was heavy Tiffany may also and I'm lazy as heck 🤣 for $30 or so you could buy a set and have life made easy
Lol what neither of you are realizing is this is my dog, she ain't cleaning nothing up 🤣. I do like the strut idea 🤔
@@TKCL but still again what happens if she wants to help out or you have to leave for a day or something. You never know
Great over build and so good looking too, Ruger will love it for many years to come. Great job doggie dad. 🐶🐶
Thank you
Totally, totally disappointed, no gutters. Missing with you Andrew, nice house for Ruger.🙏
Lol coming soon!
Think about gluing down a linoleum floor for super easy cleanup.
Hi Andrew. Now that's a nice solid dog house, well thought out. Love the way you have it hinged for easy clean out. That should keep Rugar protected from the elements. 🌞🇨🇦
Absolutely! Thanks
That doghouse will be awesome for you clean and check in on your puppy.
Thank you
Very well built...the hinges are brilliant!
Thank you
Love it. Looks great and super functional
It really is!
Nice dog house Andrew. Well done
Hell yes 👍🏻
Very nice build for a dog house! His name on some sort of sign would look really nice above the door.
I'm already planning that, I am planning on using my laser to make it.
I made a doghouse in high-school and my teacher showed me making the roof removable really is an easy way to do it if weight becomes an issue
That is an awesome Dog house you built there Andrew. I really like how you build it to be really tough for the bad weather that you be having. With tornado season and hurricane season you need a tough dog house. I hope you will love it and use it cause that is a nice dog house. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it.
Thank you for watching
Me and brother built a dog years ago for our Rottweiler Baby and it took four of us to put in her pen. I have a pit and great dane mix named Lulu, she's a year old and she loves fetch. Great job on the dog house Andrew.
Thank you
@@TKCL You're welcome buddy!!
Wow that’s an interesting to sign to be able to lift that up and clean out your dogs dog house
What a great idea. What a great video. What great description of the steps and sizes. Love the paint and white trim.
Thank you very much
BRILLIANT!!! beautiful dog and nice build, he'll be happy in this home! you did great Drew!
Thank you
Hey I Have a pit/lab mix female, and through her chewing stage I massaged her gums, man she has some teeth but I can tell you if you do that it really gives them relief, They also like the affection
Looks awesome, we did the same thing but it was just the roof the was on hinges. Worked great to clean out when needed
A great build. Ruger will definitely put that to use. I really like the ventilation design, especially for those hot n humid summer days. Great content, and Thanks for sharing 👍🇺🇸
Thank you for watching
Looks great...good job!
Thanks
Helpfull tip turn your impact 90* when cutting tin makes it a lot easier when going over the humps
Excellent tip
Maybe add something waterproof over the bottom floor to clean it easier in the event of...you know... The urine odor will be hard to get out of wood.
Thick coat of paint might work.
So Andrew what about using your laser cutter and putting ruger's name on the front of his box.
I've already got that planned 😉
nice build dude. better do something about them sharp edges on that metal..fold em over something. be better to take the time now then have a big problem later with someone having to go to the hospital. especially a drunk buddy over getting sauced up and wrestling around and slicing right into the dog house. lol. not sure if you touched on that in the video or not. i skipped around in the video.
Andrew, you could cut some of the corner pieces in half width ways, and line the entrance. I think it would look really sharp with half the width trim there. You could just attach with 3 screws, so if you ever needed to make the entrance bigger, just unscrew them, cut the opening and make 3 new pieces. Also, you could use that trim and trim out around the top under the roof, to match the white trim under the roof under the porch. Great house for baby woofer.
For sure that would look better.
Most chilled lab I've ever seen. I've own several labs & retrievers before.
He's awesome, rode in the tractor today and slept on my feet the entire time.
@@TKCL bullet don't like the tractor?
Ruger really is laid back! My daughter has a black lab with a similar temperament and recently got a 1-year-old chocolate lab who is the exact opposite. Both are trained for hunting but, man, are they different! The black lab gets annoyed by the other one’s energy and rambunctiousness!
Bullet loves the ranger, not necessarily the tractor.
Nice work... 🙂
Thanks
Well Done!!!
Thanks
What, no electric!? Lol
Good looking dog house! I'd stay in it!
Coming soon! 😬
That's so cool
Very smart... I'm stealing that idea 🤣 #kapken
Next up, an armored doggy door on the storm shelter! ;)
Ooooh 🤔
Train him to come to it when he sees and hears ...

You forgot to put an AC unit, LOL!!!! A rubber mat would protect the bottom and make it easier to clean, but you surely thought of it:))) Looks great!
Don't forget the TV aswell lol 😆 best wishes from the North Norfolk coast UK 🇬🇧
Geez 🤣
Hurricane proof dog house? 🙂 Great build Andrew!!
Thank you
Looks great:)
Thank you
Very nice design and build. Might think about cutting an curved arch on the top of the doorway to give Ruger more room in the center to enter. Other than that it is an outstanding build.
hey, Take some diascemascious earth mix with water and paint the inside wood with it. No flees, you could probably add in some borax and lime with some cedar oil and would work even better. but dust your entire yard with as much DE as you can, it makes huge difference on bugs around house
I do use it, in the garden and with pets.
Another classic build by Andrew it really looks great and sturdy
Thank you
👍👍
Man if there was some leftover hardy board it would look like a mini version of your house. Also did you think of painting the inside floor with a rubberized paint to make it even easier to clean?
I don't want anything inside the pup might chew up and ingest.
Yea Ruger has a bachelor pad.
Have you introduced Rugar to the chickens? Would love to see his reaction!
Yes and he loves the chickens, the checkens hate Ruger! Lol
What? No hardy board?😂
I would paint some little lines on there just to mimic the house, it would look a lot better, you could even set a sawblade really low and just cut little grooves in it just for cosmetic sake. It looks great but just putting those horizontal lines would make it match the house a little better. I would trim the door as well. Lol
Ply-Bead
Plywood Siding Plybead Panel (Nominal: 11/32 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. ; Actual: 0.313 in. x 48 in. x 96 in. )
Using scrap and other plywood I already had.
@@TKCL You can always update it lol
@@TKCL you could put more LED lights in there. Lol
I've got way to many other projects falling behind 😉
Better than most people live in? What end are you going to mount the mini split on? Also if you put a yeller bulb in there it won't draw bugs:)
Don't put a solar powered fan past me.
You didn't overbuild. You could have done 3 more episodes on electrical, just kidding. Outstanding job I'm sure Ruger will be very comfortable in there.
Lol
Why didn't you paint the inside walls and floor? I think it would have looked better. That puppy will be chewing and will chew the door opening without trim on it and even with it. It is easier to replace the trim than the plywood around the door.
I was worried about him chewing paint on the inside. We he lays there and gets bored a little chewing starts.
I'm surprised you didn't install outlets and the dog house 🤷🏽♂️... You never know if you want to put a fan or heating blanket and ruger's house never hurts 🤔😆😆😆
Solar coming soon 🤣
@@TKCL oy vey 🤦🏽♂️
Beautiful work what’s the dimensions excellent
28 wide and 45 inches deep inside dimensions.
Great build. Do you have the cut list for this project?
Sure don't, just went after it.
❤❤
Maybe add fine mesh to the openings/ventilation area on the roof to keep bugs out. Also, why not a hinged roof?
Because this design allows me. To wash or sweep the bottom out any side.
Andrew said he may build 2 Dog houses 1 for Ruger 1 for Andrew if needed. Maybe a guest house?
Right!
would it be a good idea to add Hydraulic cylinder to the sides for easy lifting the top for cleaning
Not really, I seriously doubt that I open this much. It's not difficult for me to lift.
How long and what angle did you cut the 2x4 at the rafter?
He needs a window to match the house. Looks awesome.....I'm ready to see horses
Wow
Dang
Are you going to "Earth anchor" the house down, so the wind doesn't blow the house across the field?
That's the plan, I discussed my plan at the end of the video.
Nice dog house did you male that tilt feature so you can get in too? LoL so Ruger not in the house yet?
Nope, he sure isn't.
What is that fold-able / portable table saw? I wanted to get one that maybe doesn't take up too much room, and I may not use it all of the time?
That's a kobalt table saw from Lowe's.
With insulation, Hardie board, tile, asphalt shingles, and under floor heating. I totally over built the dog house for our Labs. Hey if you're going to build it... Over build it. I see you have a cap for your propane quick connect.
I did..... Ruger found it 😬
Do you think the edges should be rounded and sanded so no sharp edges, I can see either cuts on you or pup when older!
I've already got rubber edge material on the way.
I could see that tin cutting Rugers paws or face if he jumps up there when he's older and taller. Is there anything you can get to edge it with or to curl the sharp edge back on the roof tin?
Isn't that the dog house from Hogan's Heros?
Hate to admit I never watched it 😬😬😬
I hate when my bit stays stuck in the screw... 👀🤣🤣
Lol happen ls all the time with star bits.
I suck at carpentry especially if it’s rise and run stuff how did you do the roof?
Just flipped a center 2x8 on its side and cut 2x4s to the correct angle to it. Hard to explain, but I just put a 2x4 up to end of the 2x8 and scored a pencil line. Found that degree mark on my miter saw for repeat cuts.
Too Fat for That! Lol I say that alot 🤣 Need to put that on a T shirt, I'd buy one, or two 😆😆😆
Where's the wi-fi antenna?????? hahaha
Coming soon with his tv
Andrew I tried to find Land in Florida. Do you have a suggestions? I am looking at 10 acres ish or more. I already priced a barn building like yours 5600$ to build a 32×60
My suggestion is stay at least 30 minutes away from any big city and wait at least a year for over inflated prices to come down. West Florida from Quincy to Marianna is by the most beautiful part of the state to me.
@@TKCL I ment can you suggest a website or if you know of an area. And by the way. I am comming at it with 450k
My suggestion is avoid the big search engines as they over price everything. Fine the area you want and then Google the small. Town realtors. Search their websites for listings. That's how we found ours.
@@TKCL I have not been to Florida. I know only what I been told bugs weather and crocodiles. I am looking at Perry because to me it is not too far in the back areas like if I had to evacuate then all hop in my RV and get in land. And I was looking at a place that does not have too much red tape BS....
need to invest in a nibbler if you do a lot of tin work.
I don't, otherwise I'd definitely have one.
Sawblade fund??
Right!
Dang drew, is there anything you can’t do?
Plenty, but that won't stop me from trying
This is what we call "Tool Collectors" in the automotive industry. Save money on everything but buys a tool for every single little thing.
And I can assure you that I've more than paid for those tools. Buy quality and do everything yourself, those tools pay you back over and over again. I just built my entire house with that same set of dewalt tools. They could all go up in smoke tomorrow and I'm thousands ahead.
@@TKCL Yeah, you're right. Building your own house definitely would make use of your tools and pay for themselves overtime. I guess I was looking at it in my perspective. Sorry if it came off as an insult. I watched your whole outdoor kitchen build, gave me some ideas when I start mine.
U need to put his name on the front above the door
Already planning that next time I pull the laser out
