    This kind of ink swatching is what I had in mind-color sample, color name, some doodles, etc. Then last night I decided to ink play with my 7-year-old. My swatch book looks so much different than I planned but it is full of memories now. ❤ thanks for the video.

    Like I mentioned to you in your other video, one of my rules is to use up 2 samples of inks before buying a bottle. When they announced that Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-Ho was being discontinued, I was just starting to use the ink. I liked it, but I couldn’t justify getting a whole bottle. But when I realized that I loved the ink, I tried to find more samples or a bottle of it but I couldn’t find it anywhere. It’s probably one of my biggest regrets in my fountain pen journey. I’m still trying to find a dupe for it, but no luck yet. 😢

    Loved watching your ink swatching video. I'm new to fountain pens and ink and saw several that I want to try from your collection. I just bought my 1st 2 fountain pens this month. Both of them are kaweco sports. One is a medium nib in the light lavender pen color & the other is the iridescent pearl with a fine nib. I also bought 2 bottles of ink. One is Organic Studio Ralph Waldo Emerson (which I'm currently using in a stub calligraphy pen that I bought from Michaels) and the other one is Colorverse USA special ink in Country Roads (WV) since that is where I live and I thought it was cool having an ink that represents my state. Definitely looking into trying some ink samples. So I saved your video to favorites to reference later. 😁

    What a lovely video! Your pages look and sound great. The artistic touches make every ink look great! I have a goal to redo my ink journal this winter, but I organize mine by color family rather than brand, because that's how I choose my next inks. I'll alphabetize by brand within each color family, and list bottles separately from samples.. As you've mentioned, there's a fine line between some categories, such as turquoise and teal. So it's not a perfect system. (Tinterias is a podcast in the Spanish language about pens, inks and papers. It is not a Mexican store and the person who runs it is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA.)

    Love watching you swatching and seeing all the colours! I have 3 fountain pens with ink cartridges but I’m hoping to buy some inks because I want some new colours. I have a question: Do you leave the inks in your pens until they run out (they don’t dry up) or is there a duration you don’t want to leave them in a pen bc it’ll dry out? I’ve only had my fountain pens with cartridges for a month or two and so far they haven’t dried out. thank you!

      Hello MaryRose! I do leave the inks until the ink runs out, which is normally around the 1 month mark. I try use my pens daily and they don't usually dry up. My husband uses his way less than I do and has had some pens inked for 2-3 months but none have dried up. He does use Pilot Iroshizuku or Diamine inks which are good and safe inks.

    Silly question. I have a huge ink collection and really love swatching. It relaxes me. I have a baseball card book that I keep swatches in and also diaries. But I swatch with a nylon brush and I've noticed I have a lot of polluted inks where the brush wasn't clean and it ruined the color. How do you get the brush that clean between swatches? I watch, swirl, wipe and wipe again and again. Also do you worry that dipping the brush into the inks may ruin the inks? Thanks!

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
      @KarynaLovesToPlan  Год назад +1

      Agree with the comment below, always have a second clean water glass! Or, to prevent contaminating the whole bottle, pour out a tiny bit into a ceramic dish (same as you would use for watercolour paint mixing) so that you only touch the ink that is in the dish. Good luck!

  • @lauragreensoul3668
    @lauragreensoul3668 Год назад

    Love those swatches and this new ink journal is gorgeous! I was wondering, since water is what makes ink to get moldy, are you not afraid by the water contamination by your wet brush in your bottes?

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
      @KarynaLovesToPlan  Год назад +1

      There is going to be contamination even when putting a pen into the ink bottle to fill it. Since I do not sterilize my pens before each use (I clean them out thoroughly but can never guarantee a sterile pen), there is always a chance of getting some water or contaminant in the ink bottle. Water is not the only cause of mood - it can be due to previous exposure to anything in the air, or living in a hot humid environment (which I do not! 😂). And to be honest, if I lose an ink bottle to mold, I won’t be too heartbroken if I need to throw it away.

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan

      As Dash says below, start with a cartridge that you don’t have to worry about cleaning. And there are so many videos about different filling systems and how to fill them. It is not difficult with a bit of practice. One I have not tried (and probably won’t try) is the vacuum fill. But piston fillers and cartridge converters are very easy!

    Pen Chalet…Pen Chalet…Pen Chalet…we get it!! I hope what they pay you is worth you repeating their name like a parrot

      No, they didn’t pay me, but they were much kinder to me than some of the comments I am seeing from people who somehow find it offensive when you have brand loyalty.

    It irritates me a lot to see that she used the same brush to dip directly into the bottle for swatches, and only has one little cup of water to wash off the ink before dipping it into another bottle😱 I can never do that I am too ocd. 😅😅😅

      Thanks for your helpful comment and that you took your time to tell me how much this irritated you. Thankfully, my inks and brushes are fine. And I can move on with my life and not worry too much about my inks, brushes and water. Have a great day!

      @@Sunnywow1 Thank you! I know everyone does their swatches slightly differently and each person takes care of their inks/pens to different levels that they are comfortable with. I appreciate the reply!
