As always, thanks. Very helpful. DJI is really bad about not telling people up front about how to fix things. I had no idea how critical the props are. You have saved a bunch of people from the grief of losing their mini.
Thanks Don, I appreciate it. There definitely was a prop issue out of the gate for some but I don't think it's likely DJI will ever make some kind of statement about it. They will just quietly fix it.
Was unaware of the marked/unmarked factor (100% entirely my own ignorance): after it took off but immediately wanted to fly upside down, I swapped the propellers to the correct position as per this video and it's flying with no problems. Thanks!
Props can last many, many hours of flight. I still have original props on my mavic2 for nearly two years now. I bought extra props and never used them. Even so, preflight inspection is important!
The propellers in the Mini are kind of a critical part of this drone as we saw before here. The propellers really deserved a video about that. Great work, thank you for posting.
Great job! The blue material on the prop screw is thread-lock and it is one use only. I have worked as an aircraft and heavy equipment mechanic where thread-lock is used frequently. The colors of it correlate to it's strength and blue is the most commonly used color in my experience. The advice about changing props in pairs along with the screws is very important and should not be ignored. Thanks for the time producing this very informative video, Steve.
Great reminder Steve! As retired military, it was drilled into our heads to always perform a quick once over (service inspection or SI) before operating any type of equipment. Yes, these actions can and will often become mundane and seem like a waste of time. Human nature is to take a short cut and skip it. However, as you stated, these checks are simple, easy and take just a few seconds. Eventually, checks becomes a good habit and second nature. Otherwise, Murphy’s law...”what can go wrong, will go wrong”. At the end of the day, a straight upwards take off over time becomes a very slight off center take off hence the new norm. Before long...we think no big deal until it is a big deal. New subscriber ✌🏼😎
Thanks Steve! Great points! I had acquired the bad habit of not checking the props often with my Spark because that tank could fly just fine with some pretty beat up propellers. Not so with the Mini. Cheers! 👍
Thanks for your info. I never knew about the marked propellers which is why my Mini would not take off. "Replacing propellers is a lot cheaper than replacing a mini $$$"
My Mini has been acting a bit erratic the past couple of flights...drifting while hovering, not landing quite near home point, and last flight it did one of those bouncing off the ground moves!! I’m just glad I was over land and not water. Upon further inspection I noticed some very tiny nicks on the rear props. I hope after I change them, this rectifies this behavior. I’m nervous about changing them, but found your video very helpful. Thanks for posting 😎
Steve Coutts changing the propellers has seemed to have fixed the issues! The Mini was very responsive and I had pinpoint control. I’m so happy. Thanks again for posting such informative videos👍
My mini gave me a warning that said. "Motor spinning too fast" when I brought it back the bottom left motor started vibrating. The props looked fine to me so I kept flying. But when I brought it home I noticed that there was a slight bend when comparing it to a spare propellor. Now i know that one side of the propellor is curved and one side should be completely flat
Good observation. The Mini's propellers are very delicate, even the slightest deformity can cause issues. I think it was the .0500 firmware where DJI added motor specific error messages, a really great addition for sleuthing out propellers issues. Happy flying!
Quality content, good info! The first I've seen anyone get into this, and after following your previous issues I see how you gained a lot of expertise in this area. Thanks for putting this together.
omg thank to this video my mini is flying properly, i did not notice there is a line on the propeller, no wonder after i change it it keep flying in circle and wont go up, i was about to go to the DJI store to repair. Cheer mate
I honestly didn't know the importance of some of this stuff. Replacing in pairs for one thing. Thanks. I've been pretty stingy with replacing as a new flyer and I see it's $12 for a set from DJI so I guess I just get a complete new set because my drone has been flying poorly lately. THANKS AGAIN.
Terrific! Glad it was helpful. I was really stingy on replacing props with my Spark but the Spark could handle really bad props and keep on flying. No so with the Mini. Thanks for watching! 👍
LOL! In the video I mention discarding the used props and screws and I also talk about clearing out the old lock-tight before installing the new props. 😀
Again good content and informative. First impression...thinking mini props...is that we all know how to do props. You make us realize...with detail...how and why and where to best practices on mini props. I really like your detail as your hand landing offers the same level that we are now knowing so much more about the mini. I’m looking for more content from you and you do excellent work
had my first prop change " i did store it wrong in the box " but thanks for info , but now all batteries are loaded and the weather is great for a little flight have a great weekend :)
Thank you! Very helpful. Just hit my two day old Mini off a wall about 1.5m high (thankfully). Its now banking foward when hovering, and Im guessing it's down the the scrapes on my props. Replacements ordered & your vid was very helpful.
You can download a DJI Assistant app directly from DJI.com to pull the flight records and then upload them on Airdata.com. The DJI Assistant doesn't work very well on Mac, which is what I use so I just pulled them directly from my iPhone using Finder (Mac OS 10.15.x and above). I was thinking about doing a video but I suspect the majority of folks run Windows and Android and I have neither. Hope that helps.
Steve Coutts thanks for answer. Will check it out. You would be surprised to know how many actually use Mac and iPhone (including me). And yes, had trouble works dji assist app - it froze when tried to get logs out and I was not sure I was doing it right.
Thanks! I have heard good things about Master Airscrew but they don't have Mini probs as of yet. My wife got me some of these amzn.to/2NaFYSQ for Christmas and I have been testing them since. They look good, they are quieter than DJI OEM, quality is good and I have had no errors with them. I may do a video but want to thoroughly vet them first. Lots of companies are offering the same looking prop so hard to say if quality will vary. Good luck!
Please do! I am curious about non OEM propellers, just as a cost saving measure, but obviously don't want to compromise on quality or my mini's flight.
Right. I myself read my question and it did not any sense. What I was saying was that in the simple version it only gives two extra propellers what is odd. It would at least give two sets one marked props and the other unmarked.
DJI's description is kind of confusing. With the basic kit you get one extra "pair" of propellers. A pair you would think is two but it's actually four propellers - two of each kind - marked and unmarked. The Fly More Combo gives you three extra "pairs", which is actually 12 individual propeller blades or 6 sets, three of each kind. Cheers!
If it's going backwards on takeoff I would think the back props are not producing sufficient lift. I would try replacing one motor at a time to see if the problem goes away. You need to replace both props on the same motor with new propellers from the same package - they have to be replaced in pairs. The latest .0500 firmware has the ability to detect and display certain propeller/motor anomalies. If you're not seeing that, then perhaps it's not able to auto-detect the issue. Worst case, just replace all 8 with new props. They are not that expensive. Good luck!
Yeah, I was testing some third-party props. They worked fine for me but many people have had problems with them. Definitely some quality control issues. After testing them I went back to the DJI props. My review can be seen here - ruclips.net/video/fuEwpzRbpHM/видео.html. Cheers!
Hey Steve, is it possible to strip the threading On the propeller motor where the screws insert? I can’t seem to get a couple of the screws to stay in.
Yikes! Yeah, I'm sure it's possible. In the back of my mind I always worried a bit about cross-threading or stripping one of those tiny screws but thankfully I haven't done it (knock on wood). Another reason for me to dislike the screw on props. Anyhow, I don't think it's easy to fix. I believe you have to replace the whole motor arm assembly which requires soldering. You may want to post a query in the DJI Forum (forum.dji.com) to see if anyone can offer advice. I have no direct experience with it. Alternatively you can reach out to DJI Support or a local DJI dealer. My guess is it will have to go in for repair and it may not be worth it with shop labour. Good luck, let me know how it works out.
Yes, they did work for me. I did a whole video on them - ruclips.net/video/fuEwpzRbpHM/видео.html. You can find them under a number of different "brands" but I suspect they are all the same. Lots of folks complained about them and the build quality is not up to DJI standards so be cautious. Like I said though, I didn't have an issue with them. I have not used them since I did the video though, I just didn't want to take chances. Really wish DJI would add some colourful options. Cheers!
I would also mention that these little screws are easy to crossthread, so make sure, even if you've cranked down a new propeller til it won't go anymore, that the blade is seated well. I say this from bitter recent experience (that came out okay, but it was scary). Also, from TODAY"S experience, make sure the blades are tucked away well in your case or whatever. I opened my off brand case today to find that one of my propellers got bent inside the case.
Also noticed your mini props are very much outside the normal black with whiteish gray markings. I’ve ordered kids of props and screws. Wonder if take offs or clones props exist ....whether to customize with color as...as you have and do you recommend substitute props for customizing whether it is for performance or looks¿. Thanks again
I have been testing 3rd party props since Christmas, a gift from my wife. Will be doing a video on them soon. DJI's warranty won't cover you if you use 3rd party props. They look awesome and have been good for me but many others have reported serious issues. Buyer beware.
Thank you for sharing the knowledge (sorry for my bad english I'm from Indonesia). What do you think about landing skids...are they make a problem for Mavic Mini as they are not original part from DJI?
Thank you for watching! I have no experience with the landing skids but you should be cautious with non DJI parts as they will void your warranty should something go wrong while using them. They would also likely but the drone over 250g, if that is important to you. I most often take off from my hand or backpack and almost always land in my hand. I find that more convenient and it keeps the Mini away from dust and moisture from the ground. I did a video on hand landing and launching if you're interested - ruclips.net/video/F7GRMpFAi5k/видео.html. Cheers!
You can see I've been sporting the red/white ones in some of my Mini videos. 3rd party props obviously. So far, so good. No errors or flight anomalies. Noticeably quieter too. Will likely do a video once I have fully vetted them.
Thanks Steve I saw the red & white ones and wondered if it was your footage or grabbed elsewhere. Not that the Mavic Mini is really noisy compared to other drones but noticeably quieter would be nice 👍. Always trying to reduce the sound footprint
I just bought myself the DJI Spark and I am very happy with it. It take great pics and videos. I am learning heaps from your videos and can’t wait till your next video comes out.
@@djitechwithdave7685 Awesome! The Spark is a great little drone. I love mine and will continue to fly it. Thanks for watching and happy, safe flying! 👍
First and foremost it's a recommendation from DJI. Every pair of propellers may be slightly different from every other pair so by installing in pairs form the same package you are mostly assured that you'll have a balanced pair on a particular motor. By only replacing one propeller you ~could~ be introducing an imbalance, which can lead to unwanted vibration and/or motor damage over time. I replace them in pairs even though it seems quite wasteful. The propellers are relatively cheap and I don't need to replace them that often so it's not really worth messing with. Personally I wish DJI would put a little effort in and come up with quick swap propellers because frankly I can't stand the screw-in variety. Cheers!
I am assuming they are DJI OEM props. If so, have you tried another set? Every DJI set or third-party set that I have installed on my Mini have all moved freely. A little resistance may very well be fine as long as you're not noticing any take-off or flight anomalies. This also may be a good question to ask in the DJI Forums (forum.dji.com) to see if others have encountered it and/or have a solution. Good luck!
My props were a bit damaged and I was flying anyway, got the dreaded "max power" warning and the drone dropped from the sky. Will be changing them out asap.
I just watched it again and yeah, I can see what you're saying. If I ever do another prop replacement video for sure I will add a visual on the correct set up. Cheers!
Hey there Steve great tutorial, I bought the simple version of the mini and it only takes one pair of propellers are they marked or unmarked propellers. Greatings from Portugal
I've just replaced my propellers and I'm a little nervous. Is there anything I should be looking out for in my next flight to tell if there is anything wrong? I'm worried I might have worn some of that blue threadlocker stuff of when I made a mistake and took it off and on again. Is that likely to be a problem? They're on pretty tight till, I'm just nervous as I don't want to risk the drone behaving unreliably.
My original Mini had propeller issues, brand new, right out of the box. While sleuthing out the issue I uninstalled/re-installed the propellers probably two dozen times or more. DJI recommends you do not re-use the screws but I wasn't about to throw them all away and buy new props just for the screws, so I re-used them. I didn't apply any additional thread lock either. Since replacing my original Mini props, I have not had a propeller issue. So, I suspect you will probably be fine. If you're worried just check that the screws are tight before flying. I was very worried about screws coming loose with this prop design but in the years I've owned my Mini and now Mini 2, I haven't had a single screw come loose. (knock on wood). If there's a propeller issue, I think it's easier to spot at takeoff. If on takeoff the drone leans heavily to one side, forward or back, instead of generally straight up, you may have an issue with props. Cheers!
That is a relief. I'm pretty sure all of them had the blue stuff, but some of them weren't going back in, and there's a change I could have mixed one up. My Mini 1 has been very reliable for its 6 months of life so far. I often fly in urban areas, and the last thing I want is the machine to come down where it shouldn't after promising my neighbours it won't. The whole reason I replaced the props was because I broke one, and despite that, the whole thing only flew with a slight wobble, so hopefully it will be fine. I might look into topping up the threadlock at some point just to calm my nerves.
I haven't specifically tried any carbon blades for the Mini 1. I tried other third-party props (ruclips.net/video/fuEwpzRbpHM/видео.html) and they worked fine for me but I ultimately went back to DJI OEM just for peace of mind. Cheers!
I don't particularly like it. I worry about it getting gummed up with bits of dirt or whatever but I guess time will tell if that's going to be a problem or not.
Hi Sir, I got my Mavic Mini today which I had ordered. It is the standard version not fly more combo. I didn't receive the DJI 18 Watt fast charger. So can I use my smartphone charger with the Mavic Mini cable to charge the drone.
So i finally figured it all out just by going through the motions and the facts on this speaks very loud. I'm gonna mostly let the pics and videos do a good bit of the explanation itself. If you keep in mind that the entire head of the drone cut out in the case from motor cut outs to nose tip is the same flat level in the case Notice where the ridge starts and stops as well. Just as it sits on this flat mirror is as it would sit in a flat bottom case if it needed to as in such case as I have. As far as the props are concerned it might as well be a totally flat case just like my flat bottom MPP Fly more case I modified and use for the Mini. Theres nothing more that the flatness of the bottom of the case can do than this flat mirror does to bend anything if you store it the way i have for a year now. Self sticking velcro strip i got off my MPP CHARGING CABLE. JUST A SIMPLE CABLE WRAP. If you pay attention to my pics and video you'll see that storring your mavic mini this way is really the only way to do it without worrying about an issue. As you can see the that grey tape on the mirror would be where that raised edge/red line starts and stops. Any other way of folding them than directly across as you see will bend them at all random places depending on how they lay each time. Start out with the design of the case and drone body lines. The red mark represents the grey tape i used. Blades running directly under motors precisely. The raise in the case is 1/2 inch. The motors and prps and velcro thickness only 1/4 inch. The props never touch bottom in the fly more case this way. They constantly remain un touched and couldn't possibly warp the props. What all this means is that ANY OTHER WAY is bad news on the props and Mini. Everyone's over all knowledge of this varies from clueless to now the truth and facts that I can't see being disputed b a smart individual. But I realize there's hundreds of new owners everyday and some are just finding out about the issue. I know many will need more info than this and I'll answer questions but I'm wanting the ones that have some knowledge of whats going on to be see this. The pics and video and explanation alone will be enough for them to understand. Study these pics good and you shouldnt need much more explanation. linksharing.samsungcloud.com/nafrqrJSpH6r ruclips.net/video/cuGPaCuksek/видео.html ruclips.net/video/UGYaGyWJG_I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/uiFHdxhmSFw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Vkya7c-PMxs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/VlvU22-BpwQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/V8TXJyoI4WU/видео.html
Can you do a demonstration test of how strong the propellers are? For instance, will they cut paper. Can you show if the propellers dangerous; will they cut you, etc.?
I am not likely to do something like that but never say never, I guess right? The Mini's props are very thin, light and flexible. They will cut paper - no problem. If you catch your finger the right way, it's possible you could cut it. I'm not willing to try that either - haha. I tend to fly the Mini low and close to things and have certainly done my share of grass and leaf trimming. Sticking anything significant in the path runs the risk of destroying the propellers as well as possibly damaging the motor. Cheers!
Is there a problem with the quality or using aftermarket props. I see the red and white props everywhere. I would like to get them to increase the visibility of the drone.
My wife got me some for Christmas and I have been testing them since. You may have noticed them in the video. They are basically these ones - amzn.to/2NaFYSQ. Mine were a different brand, Anbee, but I can't seem to find them now. They have worked excellent for me. No problems, no errors. Quality seems good and they are definitely quieter than the DJI OEM parts. I will probably do a review at some point when I am confident they are solid. They definitely look awesome! Good luck! 😀
I would just make sure that it's clean. Do a physical inspection and blow some air in there to clean it out. If a particular motor is not moving freely and especially if you're noticing flight anomalies, I would contact DJI Support. Good luck!
Experienced my first unintended altitude drop and was very confused because I've only had the drone a couple days, though I have been flying it everyday. Could someone tell me the estimated lifespan on the props? Thank you.
Yikes! I don't think even DJI lists a "lifespan" per se. The Mini 1 was a bit underpowered so prop health is super important. Just inspect them regularly and replace as necessary, especially if you notice any flight anomalies. I replaced my original props that caused me problems right out of the box and have not replaced them since, over a year later and I fly a lot! So as long as you're not bumping in to things, they can last a long time. Cheers!
@@SteveCoutts I did add a vinyl decal over the entirety of it but its super light and i don't think that would really make a difference. Its also pretty windy, 10mph at low altitude so maybe that could have played an effect. No crashes yet! -knocks on wood.
I have never had to replace a drone motor personally but if I did the first place I would go would be DJI Support or an authorized DJI dealer. I know some people will just buy the parts online and do it themselves but I tend to be more conservative in that regard. Cheers!
According to DJI, yes. If you're seeing any anomalies, even something as simple as it not taking off straight up, it's a sign to inspect and replace as needed. You could also check the flight records too, looking for "Not Enough Force/ESC Error". Good sign things are not ok. A set or two of props is cheaper than fixing/replacing a drone. Cheers!
@@SteveCoutts thanks . I have been flying and made 20km since the first encounter with my Windows (have crashed in them 3x alredy), with no problems at all , so I changing them seems unnecesery, thanks for your advice anyway
Hey, what are some signs that the propellers are damaged? I had minor crash a 2 months back, didn't fly for a while and then I tried to fly on Sunday. The drone went forward and toppled over. Realized that I installed the propellers wrong. I installed the propellers, but instead of tilting forward and toppling over it doesn't even leave the ground, but stays grounded and pushes to the left. What do you think the issue could be?
Usually if the Mini won't takeoff straight up, it pulls to one side, is a pretty solid indication of propeller issues. The .0500 firmware can assist with identifying propeller issues, so make sure you're fully up to date. What you're describing sounds like a propeller issue. If it was me, I would replace all 8 props with new DJI OEM parts and in accordance with DJI's instructions. If that doesn't fix your issue you should contact DJI support. Good luck!
If it's *just* the propellers, I wouldn't worry too much about it especially if you don't notice any other flight issues. If I were you I would make sure the noise is coming from the props and not the motors. You could test this by removing the props (make note of position and pairs) and spin the motor by hand to see if it squeaks. If it is the motor I would contact DJI Support and get their opinion on it. Cheers!
Steve Coutts I ended up getting worried and swapping them. It was just the propellers, not motors. Doesn’t squeak anymore. I think it may have been squeaking because i flew it in light rain for a bit (less than 2 minutes).
🙏🏽 Oh wow I should have watched this first. I went from crashing my drone once to installing the wrong propeller blades in the wrong spot to crashing the mini a second time 🙄
Steve, another power warning and slow drop and battle of the operator and drone for .5 miles. I am finally going to use your prop video. If you don’t mind, I will Plug the living crap out of your channel if this works. These drones are so fragile, but they are not, at the same time. I will not do another full crash video, just discussions about Mini and it’s many quirks. I flew my Mavic 2 zoom today. OMG what a liberating feeling. A big glorious massively stable bird. Eagle in graceful flight. Mavic Mini is like trying to control an addiction to anything bad. I can control it, I know what I’m doing. 🤪🤪 I can Fix it. I don’t need any help......
LOL! The Mini can be a temperamental little beast for sure. I feel like the props are the Achilles' heel of this bird and you're going to have to pay extra close attention to their health.
Oh, good question. DJI doesn't have them on their site. Even though DJI wants you to use their screwdriver, I'm sure any one will do as long as it fits well.
I dont know what happend to my mini but the when I crashed it, prop had little chipped, so I changed it, but it doesnt screw whole way. I tried everything, taking old screw and Cleaning motor screw hole loctite with it, but it just doesnt screw all way, im scared to fly my mini because what if 1 prop unscrews and mavic mini falls into water for example?
When I had trouble getting new screws in, I put the old ones in and out multiple times to remove the excess lock-tight. Sounds like you did that. It worked for me but it is certainly something to be careful with because those are small screws and I would imagine it's easy to strip or cross thread. You may want to ask this question in the DJI Forums (forum.dji.com) to see if other Mini owners have some ideas. Good luck!
naturalmente iscritto......grazie e complimenti per i tuoi tutorial di alta qualità of course subscribed and thank you for your high quality tutorials...... what do you think of carbon propellers?
Grazie per le gentili parole! I have not tried the carbon propellers so I can't comment. I did try some of the colourful, plastic ones - ruclips.net/video/fuEwpzRbpHM/видео.html. They worked well for me but the quality was a bit suspect. For now I am sticking with the DJI props.
LOL! Thanks Isaac! Yes, I am totally digging the Mini. I actually like the simplicity of the DJI Fly app. My biggest gripe is the lack of manual white balance control. Honestly, I could even live without manual camera control for video because EV and AE Lock are right where I want them. 😀
Yeah, absolutely! I loved my Spark but I really love my Mini. It's inexpensive, flies like a dream, very stable footage, great battery life and the video/picture quality is good too. Love that it's sub-250g too. It's definitely not as robust as the Spark and it doesn't have the video/picture quality of the higher-end drones but it is good value.
@@SteveCoutts sold! Thank you so much 💕 I know I'll definitely be flying it more especially living in Vancouver Canada and I loved the spark so I'm going to love the mini, just wasn't sure about the range but I'll just keep it close because I only had scares with my spark when I tried to go far away out of sight 😂
@@LouisLuzuka You're welcome. I never have my drones too far away, I am just not comfortable with it and yeah, it's kind of scary. All you need is a gust of wind and it's bye bye drone. And, technically you should be flying VLOS (visual line of sight) in Canada.
@@SteveCoutts absolutely, ya sometimes it caught interference and left my sight but I always take extra precaution and my spark was incredible to fly for the first year of drone flying. can't wait for the mini!
Steve. Small point, which you demonstrated but did’t mention. The drone should be sitting on a flat surface for the blade replacement. Under no circumstances should this be done holding it in the air with one hand and the screwdriver in the other. I’ve seen people destroy glasses and sunglasses this way AND lose the screw and /or cross thread it in the process.
Good point! I talked about the screws being small and they should not require a lot of force. I also mentioned putting them in straight. I danced around it without directly saying "cross thread". It was in my head when doing dialogue but I just chose different wording. Cheers!
hi Steve. one of my rotor failed to spin when i try to fly it. when i inspect it, try to rotate it with my hand, it kinda not smooth. feels like it have a friction. this happens on my rear left rotor. the other still spin just fine. but when i check the rear right, it also have friction. is suspect there's something that cause this. perhaps a particle, dust, or debris. is there any way to self fix this?
Yeah, it does sound like you have some sort of contaminant in the motor. DJI may repair it for you under warranty. I don't have any experience with self-repair so I don't want to give you the wrong advice. If it was me, I may try blowing it out with a can of compressed air but you need to be cautious with that stuff too. Good luck!

Props can last many, many hours of flight. I still have original props on my mavic2 for nearly two years now. I bought extra props and never used them. Even so, preflight inspection is important!
The Mavic Mini doesn't have the same type of props! They are literally paper thin
2nd flight and a few cracks on the props.

@Palmieri TV My mini did the same exact thing today. Did changing the propellers fix the problem. I also cant get my drone over 22mph. in sport mode.

I already changed one set of props. They recommend you to also use new screws because they have an especial blue glue on it.

How do you analyse flight records? And how do you offload them from Mavic? Is there some page in process. Google didn’t help me, so decided to ask

Great video and excellent advice. BTW, what propeller brand/type would you recommend to improve the flight quality and noise level?
Very clear, straightforward and helpful video. Subscribed! Thank u
Cheers!
really helpful thanks for sharing

Same as like mine , its always turn right.
Which props that i have to replace ? Only both right motor ? Or only damaged prop ?
If it's going backwards on takeoff I would think the back props are not producing sufficient lift. I would try replacing one motor at a time to see if the problem goes away. You need to replace both props on the same motor with new propellers from the same package - they have to be replaced in pairs. The latest .0500 firmware has the ability to detect and display certain propeller/motor anomalies. If you're not seeing that, then perhaps it's not able to auto-detect the issue. Worst case, just replace all 8 with new props. They are not that expensive. Good luck!
Thanks! Excited to take my Mini to Mexico tomorrow and give it a real test!
Good luck and safe flying! 👍

in the end of video you seems to use a different propellers , how well did they perform ?
Well done mate, like ur videos, very useful, thanks
Thanks!
Thanks for the good info.
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I like the red and white props you have at the end of the video, they work ok for you? If so, what brand are they?
Yes, they did work for me. I did a whole video on them - ruclips.net/video/fuEwpzRbpHM/видео.html. You can find them under a number of different "brands" but I suspect they are all the same. Lots of folks complained about them and the build quality is not up to DJI standards so be cautious. Like I said though, I didn't have an issue with them. I have not used them since I did the video though, I just didn't want to take chances. Really wish DJI would add some colourful options. Cheers!
@@SteveCoutts Ok thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it.
Both good points, thanks.

Cheers!

Has any tried any of those ‘low noise’ propellers available online? What about flight characteristics? Are they really quieter?
You can see I've been sporting the red/white ones in some of my Mini videos. 3rd party props obviously. So far, so good. No errors or flight anomalies. Noticeably quieter too. Will likely do a video once I have fully vetted them.
Thanks Steve I saw the red & white ones and wondered if it was your footage or grabbed elsewhere. Not that the Mavic Mini is really noisy compared to other drones but noticeably quieter would be nice 👍. Always trying to reduce the sound footprint

Thanks for all those info. Very nice!
Why do you need replace both propellers at the same time? Is there any good reason or just because manual says so?
Cheers!
Any tips for getting the props to move freely? I've unscrewed and retried several times but there is still a little resistance. Thanks!
Good luck!
Have you had any luck with figuring out the problem? I'm dealing with the same issue as we speak.
My props were a bit damaged and I was flying anyway, got the dreaded "max power" warning and the drone dropped from the sky. Will be changing them out asap.
Yikes! Glad you didn't lose or break your Mini.

Hey there Steve great tutorial, I bought the simple version of the mini and it only takes one pair of propellers are they marked or unmarked propellers. Greatings from Portugal
Thanks! Greetings from Canada. I'm not sure I understand the question, can you please rephrase it?
Thank you very helpful
Glad it helped, cheers!
any luck with Carbon Blades? Saw a post about body strikes in Sport Mode? Will Carbon blades prevent this?
I haven't specifically tried any carbon blades for the Mini 1. I tried other third-party props (ruclips.net/video/fuEwpzRbpHM/видео.html) and they worked fine for me but I ultimately went back to DJI OEM just for peace of mind. Cheers!
Hi, any thoughts/concerns about how exposed the tops of the prop motors are?
I don't particularly like it. I worry about it getting gummed up with bits of dirt or whatever but I guess time will tell if that's going to be a problem or not.
Awesome info. Just the tutorial I was looking for. Clear and concise as well.

Hi Sir, I got my Mavic Mini today which I had ordered. It is the standard version not fly more combo. I didn't receive the DJI 18 Watt fast charger. So can I use my smartphone charger with the Mavic Mini cable to charge the drone.
DJI recommends USB chargers 24 Watts or below. So if your smartphone charger falls in to that category your should be OK to use it.
@@SteveCoutts Ok thanks for your reply. It's 18 Watt so I think It would be okay.
Awesome... Thx for sharing...
Thanks for watching!
Great information. Thanks!

Good luck! 😀
My mini SE propeller has a little bit stuck when start to fly? why? do i need change motor or not?
I would just make sure that it's clean. Do a physical inspection and blow some air in there to clean it out. If a particular motor is not moving freely and especially if you're noticing flight anomalies, I would contact DJI Support. Good luck!
Hey man, what kind of paint do you use in ur propellers?

What about motors ?
If any one of motors need to replace. What will we do ?
I have never had to replace a drone motor personally but if I did the first place I would go would be DJI Support or an authorized DJI dealer. I know some people will just buy the parts online and do it themselves but I tend to be more conservative in that regard. Cheers!
@@SteveCoutts yea right.
My props are slightly damaged but the drone flys super, should I change them?
Good luck!
@@SteveCoutts thanks man. I ordered the props tonight. We'll see how things go from here.
Some of the propellers on my Mini squeak when moving them. It flies without problem - should I replace them? I’ve only had it for a week.
I went from crashing my drone once to installing the wrong propeller blades in the wrong spot to crashing the mini a second time 🙄
Yikes! Well, hopefully you have it all sorted now. Cheers!
Steve, another power warning and slow drop and battle of the operator and drone for .5 miles. I am finally going to use your prop video. If you don’t mind, I will
Plug the living crap out of your channel if this works.
I feel like the props are the Achilles' heel of this bird and you're going to have to pay extra close attention to their health.
i think i lost the little tiny screwdriver that came with it, any idea how to get a new one?
Good luck!

First! Always great content here! Looks like your really digging the mavic mini, how do you like the Dji fly app vs the Dji go 4 app for the Spark?
LOL! Thanks Isaac! Yes, I am totally digging the Mini. I actually like the simplicity of the DJI Fly app. My biggest gripe is the lack of manual white balance control. Honestly, I could even live without manual camera control for video because EV and AE Lock are right where I want them. 😀
would you recommend the mini after coming from the spark? I sold my spark after having it for almost 2 years but now I'm stuck where to go next.

Cheers!
Great Job, Help me out a ton!
Glad it helped! 😀
hi Steve. one of my rotor failed to spin when i try to fly it. when i inspect it, try to rotate it with my hand, it kinda not smooth. feels like it have a friction. this happens on my rear left rotor. the other still spin just fine. but when i check the rear right, it also have friction. is suspect there's something that cause this. perhaps a particle, dust, or debris. is there any way to self fix this?
Yeah, it does sound like you have some sort of contaminant in the motor. DJI may repair it for you under warranty. I don't have any experience with self-repair so I don't want to give you the wrong advice. If it was me, I may try blowing it out with a can of compressed air but you need to be cautious with that stuff too. Good luck!
Steve Coutts thanks for the advice. I think i will contact my seller to ask about the warranty
Bro thank you you re video helped me for the stupidest reason my drone wasn’t flying cause my mismounted my propoeler thanks
Glad the video was helpful. I've been there myself. 😀 Cheers!
