Join me as we go over the dark powers of the vampires and their respective hive. As well as the interesting character of the vampire king and his desire to go against his own repeating fate. We will discuss his connection to marceline, the humans, the mushroom bomb, and possibly even bella noche. It's actually kinda crazy to think that the vampires in Adventure Time were almost responsible for the extinction of humans on earth, if Marceline didn't step in the group of humans she protected probably wouldn't have lived long enough to find founders island which in return wouldn't lead to Finn or other human being born

I imagine that the reason Marcelline was only half vampire was due to her being half demon. Maybe immortals like demons can't be turned into vampires so only her human half was transformed

Humanity in this show legitimately can never catch a break from such huge threats. Even the vampires were close to bringing them to extinction.
It depends and goes both ways. Humans tend to suck in general, we saw that the humans that left Earth are trashing other Alien civilizations.
Humans where already close to extinction, that is why the vampires could risk coming out of hiding.

The war was a catalyst of destruction for the world, one event after another, in surprised it only took 1000 years to reform some sort of civility.
The vampire king is cool to me because he is similar to marceline a character who defied and crushed their destiny, marceline should have been the successor to the nightosphere and abandoned her humanity. But her connection to her mother and Simon was to powerful and she denied and usurped her fate. Similar to how the vampire king chooses to deny his destiny and continue on free even if that is the relinquishment of all he is.

It's not specifically indicative, but I think that vampirism being magical has another source to help: Vampires can sustain themselves on red as a color. We see Marceline do this time after time (Red cloth/dye from the bowtie when Finn becomes her servant, an apple on several occasions, she brought rubber erasers to the cave where Finn had colorblindness, to name a few), but she outright states to the Hierophant that he can as well, implying that all vampires can. A more mundane, physical disease would require blood as it's actually has nutrients, but red as a color implies a more magical method.
It also proves how vile vampires are that they still drink blood despite not needing to.
True, but as we see no other vampire ever do this, you could speculate that it's a byproduct of the demon-vampire mix
Light is very much a form of energy, as is magic. Red is also the lowest frequency color of light. It would probably be the easiest to consume without adverse effects.
Personally, I think it's likely that when a vampire drinks red, the energy is converted to their own personal energy and stored there. It would explain why vampire powers are so diverse. Each one has powers suited to them.
Marciline is a half blooded vampire because she is half demon. Demons most likely can't be turned into vampires so only her human half became vampire.
Marceline was worried that the empress bit Simon so it makes me wonder if she can also turn people into vampires.

@@TrueLocalEnthusiast it's a good point. It does make me wonder, as the vampire queen Marcy has all of the vampire powers at this point. So she could probably turn someone if she wanted to. Not that she would...i can think of one person she would but it would involve Time travel.

@@oompa1274 yeah her mom. And she died of radiation poisoning didn't she? Poor thing. Prismo does technically have a wish for Marcy if she visited the guy so there's that option as well. Or even just have bubblegum help her heal and rescue her from the past

If Marceline wanted the vampire part gone she couldve just asked hunson
He woulda've twisted it into a scheme to make her queen of hell again
She wanted to do it herself.
He would have removed the vampire part but it probably would have backfired in some way, like the removed vampire essence becoming a monster or possessing someone else who can't handle the power causing a rampage.

She did show some fire minipulation in Evicted Lighting every candle in Finn and Jake’s house without even looking and can raise/command the dead

Yeah I guess you’re right but we never see the vampires use the useful necromancy ability so that’s probably just magic along with fire learned from experience but fire control toxin and thermal resistance are organic

So I have some speculation about the vampire king to go along with the curse angle (less speculation and more just a thought). What if the original Vampire King was not a cat but was transformed into one upon becoming the vampire king. Basically he was given the cat horn as some sort of punishment. I get this thought from the Raidou Kuzunoha duology of video games where you play as Raidou XIV in the 1930s, but have a cat guide: Gouto Doji. Gouto is later revealed to not be his name but a title he received after committing some act. In reality Gouto is (spoilers)
Raidou Kuzunoha I. My idea is that the Vampire king could be something similar, a person cursed to wander the world in an inhuman form for all eternity, and when that essence is removed the person who was once there no longer exists. He is no longer human. Just a thought with no evidence, but an interesting one.
imagine being a random lion in a zoo then suddenly gaining consciousness and superpowers
the vampieres arc was my favourite in the adventure time story i always thought marcie nedded her own story but adventure time made it beter then i imagined also on a side note i think its for the good that marcie got bitten again, beieng a vampire is a big part of her charachter and by the time she will get used to her new self the candy war whould have began and she wholdent be able to do what she did plus i think she was happy that she became a vampire again since she probably got used to it anyway im happy you covered this

I took the "power making Marcy crazy" thing was less of a magic thing and more a general rule of the universe. Everything comes with a price. The vamps might be powerful but they have to drink blood and avoid the sun. Prismo might be able to grant wishes but he's stuck in the time room. Marcy was trying to have her cake and eat it too, draining all the vamp powers but not having to actually do any vampiric things was maybe doing something to her head or was maybe going to add up to a later consequence
this contrived "moral" compass tale of a "retired" bad guy who "just wants to live, man" after practically eraticating humanity is enough to make anyone a magician on par with coconceppi.

So basically he wasn't evil because he's evil. But because he was the most potent vampire.
I like how the non-vampire version of the vampire king was a lion, since lions are also known as "The King of Beasts"
The King tells Marceline she is going insane, because she didn't "pay the price" for her vampire powers, which I assume means, well, dyeing. Or at the very least suffering the side effects of vampirism like weakness to the sun, and against ghosts.
Vampirism seems less like magical awareness than a curse that mutates the host, or some form of dark, sentient power (given how when drained of their vampire essence, the King turns into a seemingly normal lion. And sentient because the curse seems to really want to continue existing, like when it bites Marceline when she is devouring it).
You don't have to censor the word dying
I love this character. I don't get to see too many villains stop and say "what if I did things differently and left it all behind?". Majority of bad guys just double down and refuse to move on or change or accept they've lost. It's a good message to give people stuck in an unhealthy cycle or a habit. The way it touches on the fact people don't want to accept change because they fear the unknown. Plus I'll always love the brief interaction between him and peppermint butler, lmao.
It should be noted the only power Marceline got from turning into a vampire was immortality. Her other powers are vampire powers, but she already had them before by absorbing them with her demon powers.

I always had the idea that hudson was responsible for the vampires and that somehow him and the King were related seeing as how he has vampuric traits and that hudson spawned one of the most powerful vamps alive aka marceline and he's also primordial

I already said on another video, but I'd like a video breaking down how many confirmed Primordials there are, characters implied to be them, and characters that are likely to be them. I say this because the only one I knew for sure to appear in the sea of monsters was Orgalorg, but I've since been surprised to learn Coconteppi and Hunson Abadeer are there as well. A visual reference for every known character that appears in that sea of monsters shot would be great.
For now they are 4 with coconteppei hudson orgalorg and also the lich there is a possibility that also Golb is one of them but on him we cannot be sure since we know that he existed before time but we don't know if he existed before nothing

There interesting detail I would like you to touch upon, since your doing vamps.
Empress had a past encounter/s with Simon. And when she encounters him as Ice King, she says "You don't remember me, Simon?"
"Huh, you crossed valley of tears, but came out but a shadow."
That being said, I don't know if this simply implies that Empress is (to a degree) a wizard. Or simply being a vampire gives all users psychic/magical potential. And Empress happrn to have greater interest in dwelling in to Magic because of it.
If Vampires have inate magical potential and vampirism is magical in nature, that would imply that vampires all together were created by magic. Similarly how grass sword and later fern were created by grass curse. But it doesn't have to be the case. Remnants of some malicious entity, cosmic origin or other cause may have been the origin.
Do you have any kind of theory on why he and evergreen have chicken legs? Im kinda obsessed with knowing that since the show actually put specific detail on that on two occasions and the only relation i used to have is the control over elements/storm and now with fionna an cake the absurd events of vampire world furthers this weird similarity

I thought that he said because she didn't pay a price for those powers (The downsides of actually being a vampire. The sun, garlic etc. Although the only two things i think we see her weak to is sunlight and stakes.) Is why she was going mad.

Ah yes the paying the price conversation, i think that the vampire king made marceline into a vampire to inflict the thirst for blood/red so she will have a different but predictable madness. Sort of like being inflicted with a disease that you know well about and have a temporary solution for, which is better than having an unknown one with unknown side effects even if there are benefits to it

I have a weird little theory that vampires are somehow connected to the Crystal Dimension. Reasoning? The Crystal Dimension seems to be associated with light, as the rainicorns have color-related abilities, and vampires in the AT universe drink the color red, not blood specifically. It's not much to go on but hey, just a bit of speculation to think about.

I wonder if the Vampire King’s true origins are connected with The Lich because both vampirism and necromancy are associated with the undead, which is a mockery to life & death itself. The Lich is above and beyond death because its ultimate goal is the death and destruction of all known existence. Death requires life, so if there is no life, then there cannot be death. Could it be the Vampiric Curse was a product of The Liche?
Another possible theory is The Catalyst Comet, since almost all cosmic entities, conceptions, manifestations, etc. were originally a Catalyst Comet at some-point before, during, and after the multiverse.
