Gran Turismo 7 is an upcoming racing video game developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game will be the eighth mainline installment in the Gran Turismo series.[2] The game was announced on June 11, 2020 at the PlayStation 5 reveal event and is expected to be released on March 4, 2022 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, making it the first multi-console installment in the series. During the gameplay trailer, the game's main menu was revealed to be similar to that of the menu style of Gran Turismo 4.[3] This game brings the return of the GT Simulation Mode, encompassing the long-established and definitive single player campaign feature.[4] Other classic features were shown such as the return of traditional racing tracks and vehicles, Special Events, Championships, Driving School, Tuning Parts Shop, Used Cars dealership, and GT Auto while still retaining the new GT Sport Mode, Brand Central, and Discover that were introduced in Gran Turismo Sport.[2] The game will also feature the return of dynamic time and weather effects, which previously appeared in Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6.[5] Despite the game having a single player campaign, like with Gran Turismo Sport, the game requires a constant internet connection in order to save your progress. The series creator Kazunori Yamauchi explains that this decision was made to prevent hacking and cheating. Arcade mode is fully playable offline.
In this video Dreamcastguy reviews Gran Turismo 7 on the PS5 in 4k and also tests the 60fps modes. Also talked about is the PS4 and how this game doesnt work offline cause this is an online only game. For the PlayStation 5 version, the game will take advantage of the console's increased processing power, dedicated ray-tracing hardware, custom solid-state drive storage, Tempest Engine, and DualSense controller to support features such as advanced haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, real-time ray tracing effects, 3D spatial audio, and reduced loading times. The PlayStation 5 version of Gran Turismo 7 will also run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second with support for high dynamic range.

Not being allowed to play offline if you have the disc based version of the game is an absolute joke, mainly for the fact that it’s mostly a single player game. I also don’t like the pushing if micro transactions in the game either. Other than that it looks like a great game. Excellent review DreamcastGuy.

@Hvcfghc I buy physical if cheaper, but they are basically just keys now to start the game. I wish there was more incentive to buy physical. You barely get a manual anymore.

This guy is a PlayStation fan boy. Forza 7 (5 year old game) is a better game than this. Heck Gran turismo 6 is a better game. At least I can play it when not connected to the internet. Don’t even get me started on the micro transactions and the fact that Sony released a patch to make credits much more difficult to get. They are just endorsing the for mentioned micro transactions. Pure robbery.

As a long time fan on the series he’s absolutely right. I’m highly disappointed by the online game requirement. Also, I hope they tone down the invasiveness of asking for real $.

The days of you buying a cassettes tape, putting it in your 48k spectrum and that either worked or didn't work and that was your complete game are long gone. And as for the microtransactions , that's only for those who want to cheat themselves out of playing the game.
@@Wonega certainly gone and sorely missed. And the micotransactions does run the risk of developers calibrating in-game economies to incentivize micro transactions for monetization. If the in-game economy is appropriately calibrated with a reasonable amount of grind then that’s okay. If not, it’s a problem.
Polyphony already had MTX in sport to some extent its really for people who don't want to grind, which is fine. Gt always been about heavy grand

@@mog_3825 Gt7 servers get shut down, you've lost your game. Imagine Elden Ring or Horizon FW not being playable on your system years down the road, because the company didn't have the money to run the servers for them.
Those are huge flaws that I hope Sony addresses. I'm so sick of modern games being $60-70 microtransaction catalogs where progression is intentionally slow and tedious to encourage paying real money to speed things up. And being always online means the game will become unplayable when they take the servers down.

Just because a game has micro transactions, doesn't make it automatically a huge flaw, it's there so you can support the developers if you feel like it, the game gives you too many cars to count anyways

You've missed the entire point of the game. Microtransactions are there for anyone who doesn't want to actually play the game to get the cars they want. It's not a grind, it's supposed to be fun. If you find that you can't have fun when racing, then this clearly was never the game for you anyway. I'm completely okay with the increase in price. Credits shouldn't be able to be bought with money anyway.

Devs get paid with a paycheck or salary just like us. They're not getting more money if you spend $20 in their shop. Unless, there some kind of smaller indie studio.
As a car guy and (assuming) you aren’t a car guy but seeing you get to enjoy the the hobby is so satisfying. A lot of car people don’t care how much you know or not know or how fast or slow you are it’s just fun to see people get into the hobby and appreciate the culture and art that is cars.
Most of my car knowledge goes back to gt4. This series has done wonders for the car community.

I'm not a real racers type person but I'm definitely going to pick this up the content is unbelievable and exciting so it's definitely a day one for me
If you're not heavy into racing games, I'd recommend Forza Horizon 5 if you have an Xbox or PC. But Gran Turismo 7 isn't a bad choice!

This is a sim, long haul game, I suggest a wheel, a G29 is a good beginner choice to enjoy.
I always played sims, but a wheel takes it to another level.
The problem is this copy paste from GT Sport... Same cars, tracks. Graphic are better but looks like free to play game.

It doesn’t even need a remaster for the PS5. It is that good. Still holds up. All it needs is a 60/120fps mode
Driveclub was just awesome. Shame Sony pulled the servers to favour GT Sport (which is my educated guess). It was the only racing game that had a decent VR mode (GT Sport's was shite, and Dirt Rally VR was a rally racing game).
I had enough... this was the last gt that i bought what a disappointing experience .
1 not much to do... 39 cafe missions some challenges and driving licence and the end...
2 No championships at all
3 no gt1 or gt2 races
4 rain physics are horrible they are complex and beautiful but still very very esagerated
5 rally is sega rally my god its so bad
6 micro transactions my god the prices
7 you earn almost no money...
8 no speed sensation in the races its so slow

This game is horrible, no 360 pan view????? cant even see the side of your car. no damage , every car feels slow, even the fast ones. graphics are butt, sound of the cars are horrible, smh ive been waiting for this one too
No ray tracing. No crash dynamics. Most cars are older than 2017. I highly doubt this game even comes close to an 8 in an honest reviewers rating.
I mean they add new cars in every month. And most enthusiasts prefer cars made before the electric era. Quite often with cars newer doesn’t mean better.

After playing GT7, I have to say that Forza Motorsport continues to have better physics. It's an unpopular opinion, but it is true.

That online-only structure really concerns me. After the pitiful offline offering of GT Sport, I would have thought they would have made the offline component much more relevant this time around.
Well technically they did. It has a ton of great single player content. You just can't access any of it without being online.. but it's not just "online races" so-to-speak

Are you on 3G internet? Most people that play games have access to decent internet anyway so it shouldn't be a big problem for most...
They did announce why they have to rely on online check and this time i do want to not having a problem with my livery editor etc.
@@High.on.Life_DnB I have very spotty internet. It's enough for youtube, but not stable enough for extended online play. Personally I just prefer to have a self contained experience, like I do with forza and need for speed. Being forced to pay for PSN so I can paint a car and drive around by myself is not something I'm willing to support.

@@cuprashoe Yeah, I expect the menu's in GT are going to scare the casual reviewers. They need everything SUPER simple for them. Reading is difficult, apparently. I personally love the detailed, highly customizable menu's.

Gran Turismo 7 went back to the franchise’s origins… this shit is a ps2 game, except that racing games on ps2 were designed so that the player had a good sensation of speed and collisions actually mattered, and let’s not even talk about the abysmal graphical fidelity in a closed circuit game.
I do hope PlayStation is giving you cash to gargle their balls, that would be sad enough but it would be nothing compared to being a shill for free.
I like Gran Turismo and all, but I wish Arcade racers would make a comeback.
Forza horizon 5 is one my favorite racing games, i got my arcade fast paced feel of a racing game with that. I’m unsure if I’ll get that feel in this game but it looks cool
I only like street racers or Mario kart style games. Nfs is still made the new ones are just bad. Midnight club was leaked with la noire so midnight club might be coming back
I know leaks arent always true but maybe midnight club will really be coming back
New test drive unlimited comes out in September if it hits right it may take the arcade racer crown from forza

Sony is once again an innovator, charging 40 dollars for a car, having to have an internet connection to play, and a 700% markup on cars from the last installment. Combine that with PS5 no where to be found this game is a 12 out of 10! Outstanding game! Outstanding review!

Requires online...no thanks. I don't buy the excuses that it's for cheating. Just have anti cheat FOR THE ONLINE! The rest of the game, when played solo, would essentially be the campaign of the game. The hell you need anticheat in single player for. It's BS and I'm passing on it until it's free or $10

I don’t quite understand the online only nature of things at all. For leaderboards it makes sense, but giving an option to have access to the entire game sans leaderboards when offline seems like a no brained
Great video, you've just saved me wasting my money. For me, Gran Turismo peaked at GT4 and has gone downhill since. I may get it if I see it cheap enough on eBay at some point.

In fact, I got the PS5 b/c of GT7 & I am planning on buying a new PC because of FH5.
My left thumb us swollen from the license trials. It's amazing how many of times I've been a few thousandths of a second away from gold, only to beat my record by a thousandth of a second and still not get gold. You really need to be virtually perfect for all golds. I've been playing GT since ps1 and it's never been that tight. I used to beat some by a few seconds but in 7 most of them are by a few hundredths of a second.
Looks like an amazing game but the mandatory internet kills any interest I had!

It will take 17.8hrs of CONSTANT racing to buy the most expensive car... you're not even trying to hide your bias at this point.
About buying currency or a version which has these super cars as a bonus. I think you take away "reasons" to play a game.
I saw this with Forza 5 (on PC). People complained about their bonus cars or the "auto drive" option and them not having a reason to play the game.
And that was ~4-5 days after release.
Personally, I earned all the cars in my garage, so I think I got my money's worth.
I think that people who want to drive against other players probably don't have this issue. But if you are the type of player, who plays this as an off-line game (1P) you shoot yourself in the foot of you take shortcuts.

Thank you for your review. I never really got into racing games, but was interested in GT7. The deal breaker is that this is an online only game. I refuse to support any game that need to pay an entry fee for an online only game.

It's definitely intrusive that it has the Top-up microtransaction every time you buy something. However, at least you get used to just hitting X, because the really really shitty thing for them to do would be to have the Top-up button selected by default, which thankfully they didn't do. I have to question anyone who pays real money for credits in this game because just like Forza, simply playing the damn game will get you the credits you need to go buy whatever car you want and tune it. There's a progression curve and the credits income so far is quite reasonable for that progression curve. I have over 400k credits and I'm only halfway through the cafe menu and have already tuned plenty of cars to get through the races that are coming naturally from playing.
Is it just me or do the cars look like they are floating on the track? it appears to be the high graphical fidelity of the cars vs. low texture of the actual road. I don't know...something just looks off to me.

Just imagine playing a 24 hour race. Le Mans, Nurburgring, whatever race. Then you get to the final lap and your connection goes down. Oh dear me...
The issue/problem with the GT series is that there is no senation of speed and the physics such as unrealistic understeering. They should have reworked the physics in the game. The best simulator IMO is F355 made by AM2. Play the two you can feel the total difference in physics and sensation of Speed. I still enjoy the series tho.
Always been my issue with GT series, car feels so stiff and doesn’t feel like it’s moving, having the camera locked to the back of the car feels weird in my opinion as I would rather have more sway like you are being moved around with the car going through the motions as your turn and speed up and slow down to create that feeling of speed

Personally I think the game is sub-par given it's development length. Review codes had the MT's hidden until the review cycle was complete and demo footage showed RayTracing during gameplay. (bait and switch) If I was to rate this I'd give it 6/10. Not as good as Forza @60fps with RT on, not to mention the game IS BORING AF.
I don't know why you're going on about haptic as if this is the first game to implement it properly.
Returnal, ratchet and demons Souls already proved thr legitimacy of the dualsense
Half the time I turn of the haptic triggers I don't really enjoy fighting it at least for shooters anyway.

I have never played this series, so I am looking forward to playing this one as I am already a fan of Forza series.
It will be a bit more rough to pick it up right away, but once you already played it for a couple of hours, you'll feel you are actually driving.

@@cheezyjokester don’t play on auto and turn driver assists off, even in increments if you have to
@@fatbroccoli8 This. The assists will actually slow you down in many cases and will keep you from getting better. Always want to have full control of gear changes as auto will chose some incorrect gears coming into/out of corners. Plus engine braking by down-shifting will bring lap times down when you know when/where to use it.
Sim racers are my favorite, and Gran Turismo is the King of that genre, super excited for it..

I was so upset when I sat in my sim rig to play only to see the dont have the correct view. I cant play using a wheel if theres a wheel already on my screen.

The game looks amazing, but the chase camera looks too stiff like its stuck to the back end of the car.

Why Sony makes GT7 mandatory to be online to play single player campaign is beyond me.. Its like they want people to go to gamepass.. So ridiculous..
I tried almost every racing game from Racing Sims to more casual Racing games (need for speed) and Gran Turismo series are the most enjoyable of the Racing Simulation type.
I don't have a racing wheel controller but its enjoyable anyways unlike Grid or Project cars which are a pain in the ass to make the regular controller work decent.
The only thing I don't like about GT7 is the "always online" requirement.

Hey, so if it's always online, in case I run out of internet for any reason during any part of the game, what happens? I'm always online and I do have a good internet, but it would be really sucky if internet goes down for any reason, during a major race that I'm barely being able to win, and I get an error or something, making me lose the progress achieved.
Probably just like that, you'd lose progress up until your last autosave or race or whatever. Just like in most other games.
Can't say for sure though since I don't have the game yet.
If its single player and not actually online.. It will save once established connections.. Happen sometimes in gt sports.

I really like the game so far. I just really wish that they’d let us select which individual elements of the HUD we’d like to have active. Not just all, some, or none. And I really don’t understand why we can’t turn the camera to look at the car on the side in the chase camera. And a driving line similar to Forza’s would be nice. Like what they had in GT6.

@@yoshatabi They do, buts its function isn’t as thought out as Forza’s, where the line’s color changes based on rather you need to brake or are in the clear to accelerate. However, I guess it could be said that it’s more of a crutch in Forza. I typically just use the braking only version. I am managing to get decent with just the driving line and braking zone indicator though.
I remember doing the Lisence work on GT2 back in the day. I don’t have that kind of time now, but it definitely looks good!
The offline issue is a huge disappointment.

I know a lot of people aren't going to play Forza cuz it's not their thing so Gran Turismo 7 is the best racing Sim game and another hit for PlayStation a lot of people are going to love

We have had all the good releases in the last couple weeks. Gt7, elden ring and dying light 2 are all great games.
@@Gl-my8fw not sure about dying light 2 even the original dead island had a better story than dying light 2 as well as the first dying light. Dying Light 2 is decent but it's certainly disappointing in some aspects
@@MrRAGE22of the 3 it is probably my least favourite but it just makes improvements on the original and is very entertaining once you get awhile in. The story isnt the only important thing. The gameplay is awesome and the dead island stuff was awful.
