    Yo Broski! I work as a skiing instructor, however love the park and jumps. Got ones (hawxes primes 100) on sale near by! However they also got 2017/2018 Tecnica Cochise 110 (sky blue/lime green) for same price. With a little of waking that I have to do.. What you recommend for a good balance between the park, teaching peeps - therefore going super slow and teaching "pizza" stance and walking around to collect students and away for lunch looool.
    Thanks!

    Is the boot you're showing us the 2018/2019 model year prime boot in a 130 flex?

    Hey, what binging and boots you would recommend for Rossignol Soul 7 (2016). I'm thinking about Salomon QST 120 boots but I'm still not sure about binding. Thanks!

      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад +1

      Hey Serhiy, The beauty of the QST boot is that you are able to use any binding with it. If you are going to do some backcountry, you can get the tech soles and go with a marker kingpin or dynafit beast. If you are going to ski the setup as a resort/alpine option, I would recommend the Look Pivot or the Marker Griffon/Jester as 2 really solid binding options.

    Hi thanks for your videos, they are really helpful! Can I ask - re the Dalbello Kyra/Panterra boots, is it easy to reduce the flex stiffness of that design? (There is a stiff plastic outside of the boot where the tongue normally is - i presume this plastic is responsible for most of the flex stiffness) Thanks

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад

      Hi Buffalo, Thanks for watching! The only 2 ways you will be able to soften that Panterra is with firstly the adjuster on the back and secondly yeah the overlap plastic that surrounds the tongue. You should see that there is a groove half way down which is a line you can trim along. If you remove the top half of that overlap, it will then allow the powerstrap to go straight against the tongue and be less plastic overall softening the front flex towards the tongue. Lastly, I havent actually looked into it with the supplier, but maybe possible to source a softer flexing tongue. You will see on the inside an arrow pointing to either A,B,C,D. They are the ratings of the tongue. On the other kryptons, they are easily found and switched out, but considering this is a half tongue on the panterra, I am unsure how easily they can be bought let alone if they exist at all. But stick to the first 2 options and you should be right! Cheers :)

    I still own a pair of the original Hawx 120, which I believe was the top of the range back then. They were a bit too soft for my liking, so I only ever use 'em for ski-school related things. I noticed these don't have any reinforcement along the spine, like the waymaker and hawx ultra, are they still a softer boot?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад

      Yeah for sure a bit softer! I am going to add the second flex bolt to see how much it beefs them up.

      I picked up a pair of Hawx 130 flex last year that I thought they were soft too. The stock foot beds were really garbage too. However, the instep was a god-send for my fit. Blood is good and for that I love them.

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад +2

      It truly is the best thing in this boot, the combo of instep height and heel grab is sweet! Blood flow is for sure good :)

    Hi thanks for your help. I have another question if I may. I and my missus are in between sizes I think. We both have about 2.5cm gap in our boot shells. Her foot is 24.5cm, my foot is 26.0cm. So we both use a 24.5 and a 26.5 shell currently. Is that OK for an intermediate skiier? WOuld you recommend going a size down to get the gap down to 1-1.5cm? Also do women's boots have a thicker liner ie she is fine whereas I can consider going down? Does the boot "volume" decrease with size like the last does? [The thing is, wearing it in the shop is so different from the feeling I get when I'm skiing!]

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад

      Hi Buffalo, No problems mate! Yeah definitely with 2.5cm of space it is on the larger side of things. Probably still ok, but really only for recreational/casual skiing. The quest access in particular is a large fitting boot model. So you wont necessarily need to go down a size, but more likely be better off in a different last/model that fits you better length wise. Most of the time for a great fit and good performance, you can stay true to your size and ensure its right with the shell check like you are already doing. Long term I would encourage to move towards the 10-20mm of space for good intermediate growing into performance type skiing.
      I would only go down a full size if you are very confident in both shell sizing and how it feels on your foot.
      Sometimes womens liners are a bit thicker, but very dependant on which boot it is.
      The other factor that comes into play is what you are feeling. As you say, your girl is feeling nice and secure, with this amount of space, whereas you are having some movement. Foot security will go along way to improving your skiing and getting the best response to your skis.

    I was considering buying a pair of these on line for my daughter. Re fitting.....is it possible to do this yourself using a conventional electric oven heated to requisite temperature? Also is are the cooling socks required? Or......would you recommend just not risking it!!??

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  6 лет назад

      Its definitely possible to do. But I would recommend if you are anywhere near a ski shop, to just go do it there as it i much easier with zero risk. But overall quite a simple process to do. I have been considering making an at home tutorial, so maybe check back in a week or two. :) cheers

    I’m 6’0 175lbs. Calves are thin. I’m an Aggressive intermediate that’s always wanting to progress. Is the Hawx 110 appropriate or move to 120 flex? Also is there another boot you’d recommend - I’m also looking at panterra 120 and the Lange RX 110. What’s your highest stoke meter for my profile ? Thanks!!!!

    Quick question, I'm currently skiing on Atomic Vantage 100 180cm with Marker Jester bindings. My boots need an update (in my opinion), I'm currently skiing K2 Pinnacle in a 100 flex. I am about 5' 10 inches (180cm) and weigh approximately 90-95 KG (200-205lbs). I consider myself a good skier and am ready for a boot upgrade, do you think a 120 flex would be okay? Cheers!

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  6 лет назад

      Yeah I think that would be a good next step. With your weight and height I would suggest that you would prefer the stiffer flex for your skiing! Cheers

      @danny4002 6 лет назад

      One last question, my K2 boots are a 102mm Last, this boot is actually a 100mm-106mm Last correct?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  6 лет назад

      Yes, it is 100mm as standard, but can be molded out to approx 106 for wider forefoots.

    I'm thinking about getting either these (in 120 flex) or the Atomic Redster Club Sport 110. I only ski on piste as well as aggressive carving. What's your thoughts?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  3 года назад +1

      Yeah both are a great choice, they will allow you to increase that forward lean you were looking for, but for this purpose of mainly on piste carving, they are exceptional. Cheers

      @@PatriotFootbeds My feet are about 100mm last, since the Club sport is a bit narrower do you think it's better to go with the Hawx prime or do you think I'm missing out on some of the Redster features(Would need to check the redster with a boot fitter I assume)?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  3 года назад +1

      @@AlexHolmstromPGA I would usually go the narrower fit and mold them out to suit. That can give a more precise fit and better response. But it all will depend on what your foot can manage. If you are skiing strong and feel secure in your 100mm Nordica's then the Prime might be the go.

    I tried an atomic hawx 120 AM and i'm not sure what the difference is between the S and the AM 120 model. I can't see the AM available on the website but tried some at intersport and they felt amazing compared to what I have. I'm not sure what flex I want - it would be either 110 or 120. I'm doing the Austrian Anwarter and might do the Landes 1 later. I'm 85kg and 180cm and have some limited dorsiflexion . Due to bad advice I ended up buying Lange RS130 wide in a size too small. Very uncomfortable although they've improved a lot in the width and top of the foot, leak snow into the boot and have made my toes black. Cheers

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  5 лет назад

      Yeah I haven’t seen the AM model, I can only assume it stands for all-mountain. If you find out what the difference is, let us know! 👍

    Hi, how does Atomic Flex compare to Salomon flex rating?
    I owe X Pro 100, but will gladly skip to Prime 100 regarding more room for high instep.
    Another problem is boot fitting is not very known in my country so i have to choose fit-from-the-box

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Marin, I would say pretty comparable flex wise between the two. Have you tried to do some of the "custom shell" molding to help with the instep pressure?

    • @marinnikolic6763
      @marinnikolic6763 7 лет назад

      Patriot Footbeds no, it scares me a bit to cut new boots :/

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад

      No need to cut anything mate. It would just be heating the boots in the oven and adding some foam across your instep to help create some more space for your instep.

    How would you compare this boot to the tecnica 10.2?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  6 лет назад

      Very different boots. The Hawx Prime is a medium fitting performance boot, while the ten.2 is a high volume wide fitting boot. You wouldnt put the same foot in these two boots. If you are looking at wide fitting boots, perhaps the Hawx Magna would be a better comparison with the ten2.

    • @vcostor
      @vcostor 6 лет назад

      Ok, that is what I had thought. I don't have a super thick foot just wide and the boot guy was saying the hawx could fit it. 120mm @ 29. The ten2 fits pretty close to great. Different shops, hard to tell.

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  6 лет назад

      Yeah, if your not wide at the back ie. instep/ankles. The with the Memory fit of the Hawx Prime might mold out really well for the width and still give you great heel hold.
