      It happened in my school with the janitors. The hallways were so bad and I was so upset that people couldnt just throw their trash in the bin and not on the floor. The bins were so stacked that people had to take their trash home. Eventually we got a day off and when we came back I guess the school resolved their problems so it was clean again. Overall it was so unsanitary so we bought the janitors donuts as appreciation.

    I work for a trash hauler. Our office is connected to the garage. There was a fully loaded truck in the garage during the summer, that was getting repaired. Dripping swill and maggots. I used to dry heave at my desk. (I hate to say it but I’m used to it now)... I’ll never forget. I was complaining one day about the smell. And how it was making me ill. A coworker next to me took a huge breath with their nose... turned to me and said. “Smells like money to me!”.....

    If he is a garbage man he has not been there that long. You never look through a persons trash unless you are new. After 6 months it is all the same and you just get rid of it. His story about the cash bag does not ring true as he would have to go through tons, yes thousands of pounds of trash to find one small bag. Think needle in a very stinky, slimy, compacted hay stack.

    • @Unprotagonist
      @Unprotagonist 5 лет назад

      Not true, people put stuff in their can without bags all the time, and you usually have to glance inside to make sure there's nothing dangerous in it, anyway. People put stuff like batteries or hot ashes in there all the time, and those can end in truck fires or explosions.
      They rarely will look through the trash for something lost. It needs to 1. Be worth more than 10k and 2. They have to catch it immediately, before the truck goes to the landfill, so they can sort through that load. But things CAN be found if you're quick on the draw and it's important enough.
      Signed, someone who works in the industry.

    Don’t think for a minute a municipal trash man doesn’t make decent dough! By the time they’re full time with a DPW, they’re making $20-$30/hr. In 5 years, 35-40, so don’t knock it!

    Im a trash laborer and people have the worst barrels without wheels and have holes while at the same time all the nasty liquid no ones wants to think about that goes down my arm and into my gloves. I go to 300+ houses a day and pick up around 20,000+ pounds with a combined weight of trash and recycle. Peoples inner nastiness about them can be seen by the way they treat their trash and complain. The worst part is that At least 98% of the people we pick up don’t really care about our policies so they make their trash barrel way above weight standard and dont care about recycling. So my arms and joints suffer for those who dont care cause it’s taught to not care

    My dads worked as a garbage man for 30 years! Our two cats I grew up with came from a box he found. He would hose off toys and bring them home (Barbie houses and planes and motor homes) he also found out that the local humane society threw out full untouched bags of dog food that people donated. We fed our dogs with that for years. Nothing was ever wrong. Turns out they didn't want food they wanted money cause they can use that for themselves

    Man I always appreciated these guys. When I had to take out the trash as a chore with my family, I could barely handle that. Hot days, maggots and whatnot when dad skipped his damn days. Power to these people.

    I was homeless for almost a year and a half, and now I NEVER throw away clothes, or anything other people could use. If youre just throwing it away, why not take a little more time and donate things and help someone else so much instead

    I'm quite confused why trash that is not recycled in the US goes to landfills. Where I live, we burn trash and use the heat for heating our houses around the facility
