“Started humming a song from 1962..”
It didn’t make sense when I was a kid. I get it now.
Bob Seger is a big, beautiful harmonious rabbit hole. Bring us more.

Justin, I highly recommend you listen to the other two singles from the 'Night Moves' album, "Mainstreet" and "Rock N Roll Never Forgets", it will give you a hint of his range.

"Against the Wind" is another one of his great songs and also features excellent piano along with similar reflective themes about different life stages and associated struggles.

Turn The Page, Hollywood Nights, Still The Same, Katmandu and Nutbush City Limits (live) … way too much to list. It’s straight up rock and we loved it. My first rock concert was Bob Seger in Hartford and somehow I caught the sweaty towel he threw into the crowd. Kind if gross now but, as a 16 year old kid in 1980, it was GREAT!

A classic tune and story that just about all of us growing up back then can relate to and will always connect with. If I remember correctly it is about Bob or someone he knew growing up.

That album was HUGE. Brings back memories of high school barn parties with a bonfire outside or skating around a frozen lake at night with someone’s eight track blaring out his trunk.

So many memories from back then, eh? Where have the years gone?

The summer of '74. Cruising around in my '68 Chevy. Parking on Bluebird Road with my girlfriend. Only my second serious girlfriend. We were sixteen; she was gonna be a senior, I was gonna be a junior. Neither of us was "romantically" savvy. But we sure did give it all we had.
At the beginning of my senior year, without her in school with me, I saw all of these pretty young girls walking around and wanted to get to know them all. I broke up with my girlfriend of more than one year and did my BMOC thing.
This song means everything to me.
Saw Mr. Seger in April of '78. Along with me was the girlfriend I had dumpped at the beginning of my senior year. LOL!
We almost got married, but that fortunately didn't happen.
I still see her around town every now and then. We talk awhile and then move on.
She's a widow and I'm a widower, but there's no connection between us anymore. That died decades ago.
    Love this song . . .

There's deep catalogue you could dive into here. I consider Bob the King of Heartland Rock - which is a blend of Blues Rock and Folk Rock, with a lot of blue collar attitude. He is also an absolute poet as a lyricist.
This was Bob's breakout song, after working the road as a Midwest touring act for 10 years. I recommend Turn the Page or Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser from the Live Bullet album.

I can't believe this is your first hearing of this my man. I'm almost jealous. This is an all time great song. They will be playing this at wedding dances on the moon in 3024.

My lord JP.. if this is the only track you’ve heard from Bob then you have the glittering prize ahead of you of Hollywood Nights , imho his Magnus Opus ! I’ll look out for that ..
Hollywood Nights … worth saying twice 😅

My favourite Bob Seger song is definitely "Main Street". I have his Greatest Hits album and play a couple of songs of that. Usually Main Street, Turn The Page, We've Got Tonight, Against The Wind and Like A Rock. But Main Street always brings a smile to my face and I whistle along with the tune.

If you are checking out Bob Seger's Wikipedia page, any of the songs listed as hits in the top section are well worth reacting to.
You may even find some you recognize.
I'll be back for any more Segeryou do.

I got to hear Bob Seger in 1969 at my high school at a dance. He was great then and he was great later too. I saw him many times since I would like to suggest a couple songs for you might try like a rock and roll me away

Meh.... If these guys have a story to tell they should write a book. Lame music, cheesy speech break, nothing i'd wanna here more of. Very much a case of 'Beware of Greeks baring gifts', i'm thinking JP :) If people are having a clear out, what's wrong with the local charity shop...

This is the album to put him on the map. He had a few albums before this the dating back to 7172. Also live bullet came out before this which was his live album of everything he had done up to that point. You got to get deeper into this brother! Especially the fire down below and main Street! Peace!
