Jack was one of my favorite Columbo villians Haven't seen this in years Thanks
One of the best Columbo villains for sure !!!
Yes he was in two episodes I believe
@@romystumpy1197Actually 3 episodes
He Was On Columbo More Than I can Count Than Other Stars And The Played Villains Real Well
He was one of my favorites on Columbo as well! I don’t remember him being in 6 episodes like A.J. says in this show though. Possibly 3
He was so terrible to his sons, especially David. He was jealous of David's success. The sad thing is that David never wanted success. He wanted his father's love and approval more than anything but never got it.
These celebrities like Cassidy make their lives more complicated than it needs to be. There's never enough fame or money to fill their ego's.
So true. Narcissist.
I remember Jack from his performances in "Columbo". Not only was he a great actor, he had that, "it" factor on screen, which a lot of greats just dont have. Very underrated talent, and its sad how he passed.
I think there is something about him that was off putting and affected his career trajectory. His acting style was more suited to stage than screen. His jealousy of Shirley and David was pathetic and resulted in some cruelty; no excuse for that. Horrible ending for anyone regardless. 🙁
Easy to Judge.
He was a devil worshipper !
FACT.
He was also bisexual which probably wasn't common during his acting years. I believe that info is in one of David's books. It was also said that he was bi-polar which is likely why he self-medicated with booze & pills.
Sad
I thought he was a great actor
Glad I watched this in my recommended.... David Cassidy was my childhood crush and have loved him ever since... went to see him locally in concert 10 years or so ago, wonderful!! I have watched a lot about him and his life, and this just confirmed the sadness of his childhood, which haunted him throughout his life... Sad that a father could not be supportive of and proud of, and happy for his son!! The anguish that caused David! Sad!! 😞
Shirley back in the 70s was drop dead gorgeous and throughout her life.
Yummy.
Have you seen her in "Elmer Gantry"? She plays against type and wins an Oscar.
@@TheSaltydog07 no but I'll check you tube thanks.
@@TheSaltydog07 Hmm, I gotta watch that. I didnt even know Shirley ever won an Oscar. Thanks for the tip. I had a huge crush on her as a kid watching "Partridge" reruns.
Very tragic story for Jack to die such a horrible death.😢
I don't think Jack Cassidy received the recognition he deserved. He was a brilliant singer and character actor. RIP Jack.
He didn't think so either
I Agree
I loved him when he played those characters that were sketchy
I loved watching him play the bad guy. The Columbo episode comes to mind.
I have been looking for this episode. Thanks for uploading. 😊
❤❤❤
What a versatile talented actor and handsome, so handsome. Proud of his sons even leaning into jealousy of both David and Shaun. Sad ending....
Although I enjoy looking at him he is an example of a very emotionally stunted person. It's purely toxic to yourself and everyone around you.being like that. I feel bad for Shirley and the boys. Shirley seems like an amazing lady!
Yep! He was a narcissist!. .
Well they said had bipolar disorder & didn’t stay in treatment. That involves extreme mood episodes, grandiosity, impulsive behavior.. I kept hearing symptoms of that in his story
I was a huge Shaun Cassidy fan
Thank you for uploading!! I hope you have more of these episodes!! Soooo rare!!!!
yes.. Coming soon
Why wouldn't Shirley stare? He was weird as hell and setting things on fire. 😒
He’s in my top 3 Columbo murderers(3 episodes),along with Robert Culp(3 episodes),and Patrick McGoohan(4 episodes).
He definitely suffered from bipolar as i have it and i know the mood swings are difficult to deal with. Luckily i take meds for it and constructive way of dealing with it.
LOVED him in Columbo!! my favorite villain! Sad how his life ended...and his relationships with his children. To be seen and not heard. He missed what was truly precious about LIFE.
Yes, he was great in Colombo. He was the perfect villain. One of my friends from way back in 1984 looked a lot like him. Charming, nice looking, and he also cheated on his wife.
Jack Cassidy was a troubled man who struggled with his sense of self-worth. It's sad to see how some people can become lost in their own perceptions of the world. Perhaps he turned to drinking to escape from the harsh realities of life and his own insignificance in the grand scheme of things.
He did a Columbo episode which begins with him walking toward the camera, and in front of him is a barbeque grill with flames rising up. The image is that Jack Cassidy is walking through fire! Now, that's an old Hollywood trope. The 1932 Doctor Jekyll & Mister Hyde ends with Hyde viewed thru a fire. Still, from what this video said about him, I wonder if Cassidy requested the scene to be shot that way, and if his death was suicide, at least subconsciously.
That's weird, but not unheard of. Many actors act out scenarios that they end up facing in their real lives.
And America still hasn't learned how bad drinking uncontrollably is.
Jack Cassidy lead a vey sad life. I hope he is now at peace.
Good video so much music is a n necessary
Sounds like a case of narcissism run amok. "
I agreee
Totally.
Usualy people like this have had a bad childhood (still no excuse) and never learned to cope emotionally in so you end up with an emotionally immature person who doubled down by self medicating with alchohol. That on top of a personality disorder like narcississism would make him probably pretty hard to be around. Sad because Shirley seems like an amazing person who deserved better.
@@tjo1976 That sounds very wise. But if one thing should be jarringly obvious to Hollywood stars it's the perils of falling in "love" with each other.
@@scronxthe postmodernist misanthrope
Her taste in men is really odd! She later married Marty Engles. Ugh. Jack just seemed like an odd guy. Handsome in a sinister way.
My thinking too.
Shirley definitely likes her men to be kinda crazy
I remember his appearance in the tv movie The Phantom of Hollywood,in some respects it mirrored his later life,i remember his death, sad RIP Jack Auckland New Zealand 2024
Very cool
David may have been making so much money, but he filed bankruptcy twice
It’s pathetic when narcissistic men and other insecure types become threatened by and jealous of women.
Must we skewer the talent and lives of other people ? Is it necessary ?
Just talking about his life.
Apparently he treated David badly, I read that he was jealous of him....not sure if this was true
This documentary said that Jack was jealous of David.
He and She was ahead of its time.
Nice
Jack Cassidy was, first and foremost, in love with himself .
🤣🤣🤣What a silly sod.
I never knew he had died so horrible ,Adored him in Columbo ,RIP ❤️🇬🇧
❤❤❤❤❤
Wow..?
Jackie boy!!!
How in heaven are ya!?!
Been sometime.. you know me… hating everyone, sooner then later, but guess what my friend-
It has all changed now…
180 degrees!
Now I watched you , play a drunk on Columbo.. it was startlingly BRILLIANT! My favorite line, you do quote!
“Ah there they are! The HOLY TRINITY! And the only thing missing is the heavenly glow, which I shall gladly make up for!”
(Close enough!)
Your method was perfect. I’m sorry to hear of your passing… 1 year after that devestating divorce!!!!
All your sons.. taken ftom you.. and your wife! I get it… but the commentators in this world still smear hearts of GOLD!!!
Remember.. my house IS YOUR HOUSE! LIFE TO LIFE!
Selah!😀🎼😇❤️
Your true friend
Michael.
"She love is me"?
Irritating, isn’t it?
He was an odd fellow.
😢
He might have been bipolar.
They say right here that he was diagnosed. They called it manic depressive back then.
@@monilaninetynine3811its is called both on these days. Its not easy. I have cyclemic major depression which basically is bipolar but the swings in moods vary .
Shirley never stopped loving him.
@vickitaylor680: Really, how do you know? You make a bulls**t comment with no supporting fact just to post something. From Shirley Jones autobiography it was not an easy relationship/marriage and filled with jealousy, pettiness, infidelity, financial issues, drinking and too many fights. She divorced him because she couldn’t live with him and didn’t love him. Get your facts and story straight: Shirley Jones found happiness and love with Marty Ingels.
he's a flaming lgbtq in my opinion, repressed men like this often hate women, humiliate them, use them to appear het
@@johnpickford4222I don't know which book you read, but Shirley said that she still loved him and would have stuck with him had he not been setting everything on fire.
@@johnpickford4222I still remember from years ago an interview with Shirley Jones said I have never ever ever ever fell out of love with Jack Cassidy and she was already married to Marty whatever that comedian was.
More's the pity. He was charming but toxic. She was lovely and deserved better.
He was jealous of his son David.
I wonder if David Cassidy would have gotten an E! Mysteries and Scandals episode
Now that he's passed he would qualify. He was still alive when this first played.
Jack was a bisexual but had trouble dealing with it.
I really don't know what women saw in him. What a creep. He wasn't a very good actor, & he wasn't as good a singer as David. His horrible jealous nature is what destroyed him.
I agree,I found him creepy
Haters
He was a gigantic narcissist!!
@@monilaninetynine3811 Yes, and with good reason. He was a creep, and toxic to some of the folks that loved him.
Couldnt disagree more. He was one of the very best villians on one of the greatest TV shows of all time, "Columbo".
You should watch the episodes he was in, and see for yourself.
Everyone has some sort of demons in their closet. Jack Cassidy was not weird. He was a very unique individual who was extremely talented with no reason to be jealous of anything. I would stare at him too if he was sleeping next to me only because he was gorgeous. He was not gay he was just curious being around theatre people. Leave him alone and let him rest in peace.❤
Actually, Jack was bisexual. His son David talked about it in his autobiography.
How do YOU know?
@Tristan
Sad jack Cassidy
He seems to have been a narcissist
You
A VERY SAD STORY HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE REST IN PEACE ♥️
not hetero
Bi
This guy was a mess all his life.
My gay dar is telling me Jack was gay . Was this one the demons that haunted him ?
probably bi--anything that moved he probably tried to shag
He was bisexual, per Shirley and David
He was bisexual.
He had sex with Nat King Cole according to Shirley.
I think he looks rather creepy! Even though David resembles him, and David was so very handsome. Wierd. 😮
Jack was stranger than fiction
My mom liked Jack Cassidy, and when I was little, I was really creeped out by Jack Cassidy, but I had a huge crush on David. I was shocked they were related!
David looked a lot like his mother.
@@MissJensk1I really think he looked like Jack, even though David doesn't look sinister. His daughter, Katie, resembles his mother, though.
No No No he was born and raised in Richmond Hill,Queens, New York and not Long Island,New York and went to Richmond Hill High School along with Rodney Dangerfield who also attended Richmond Hill High School as well
Queens may be one of the 5 boroughs, but it's DEFINITELY on Long Island.
@@Peg-zl9lr Listen Long Island is two different counties than the five boroughs of The City Of New York Long Island two counties are Nassau and Suffolk counties are he was born and raised in Richmond Hill a section in the borough of Queens County and not Long Island and your comment tells me that you are not from New York City and you didn't Google the information about him as well so do your homework before you make your comments on what you are talking about thank you so very much
@@anitaharrison2544 I suggest you look at a map.
@anitaharrison2544 "The island has four counties; from west to east they are Kings, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk."
@@Peg-zl9lr Listen stupid I already explained to you about the city and the suburbs of The State Of New York and like I said you must not be from New York so do me a favor and stop texting me your stupid hypocrite comments because I'm not interested in your moran comments and I will delete it without looking at it once I see your name above it and GOOD GOOD BYE!
A creep...
He and shirley had 3 goodlooking sons imagine if girls.
Every boy he produced was a heartthrob
He was very jealous of Shirley’s, David’s and Shawn’s popularity. He was not a good actor.
He was a good actor and that's why he couldn't understand why his family was more commercially successful.
Or Comedian ....
I think his style was better suited to the stage.
He was a superb actor. He played villains brilliantly. He may have been jealous, but to say he was not a good actor is pathetically stupid.
The guy was outstanding on Broadway...absolutely superb in several shows. The TV series with RIchard Benjamin shown in this video was an idiotic gig beneath his talents, but he probably figured that was the kinda junk (a la 'Gilligan's Island' and the like) that became popular. Clearly had ego problems though that got the best of him, unfortunately.
I couldn't stand him. There was something very off putting about him; to me there was a very strong element of evil within him that words could not come close putting into words; and his treatment of his sons and wife Shirley was horrible.
He was a great man. Great actor.
So gripped by his addiction to tobacco was Jack Cassidy, rumour has it that he was STILL smoking when they found him.
🤣🤣🤣And they said he was a cold person...
He fell asleep smoking and dropped the cigarette. That's what started the fire. Killed himself.
@@monilaninetynine3811 Think you've missed the point of what I said.
@@elvisleeboy 🤣🤣Just to remind you that some of us got it!!
NOT FUNNY.
He was bisexual. Jealous of Shirley and David.
He looked and behaved like Satan himself, but he got inside Shirley Jones. I would accept any sort of fate for a life like that.😈😈😄😄
Like any other human being he had his flaws
But he got to fuck Shirley Jones, unlike most of us.
Ofcourse people blame his death on smoking. More anti smoking propaganda. Seriously, it's probably wrong.
Booze, pills or tobacco, any one of these was going to lead to his death. The tobacco was quicker and probably easier on his family in the long run.
Goto 14:10 Jack only did 3 episodes of Columbo.
Correct. Murder By The Book (1971), Publish or Perish (1974), and Now You See Him (1976).
He was great in columbo
He made Shirley Jones a freak in bed
Facts!!! I read somewhere he wanted Shirley to have threesomes with him. Shirley you freak in da bed girl!!! Lol
Omg, Joey Villa sounds just like Falk😂. Well, Shirley Jones was, and still is a doll. She did everything right. I think Jack was just a narcissistic fool, and quite immature. I, however, did love him on all of the Colombos. I do know that Jack used to throw his cigarettes on the floor of his house, LIT, and I think his death wasn’t because 14:45 of the psychic, but he was lured into believing the psychic. I feel bad for his kids, I’m sure they all suffered. I can’t believe.. he didn’t burn down the whole building. Wtf
